The house alone is just great: quietly located but very central and with big windows to the garden. In one of the nicest neighbourhoods (Schwabing, Maxvorstadt) close to the center and the main attractions.
Renting this extraordinary place, you will live like a local in the Maxvorstadt/Schwabing, the quarter of museums and the university close to the English Garden. You will find almost every possible feature that you might expect from a 5-star location (42' 3D Flatscreen with AppleTV, 3D DVD Player, iPhone docking station, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc.). The flat has a very quiet and bright ambience.
Spectacular Ludwig- and Leopoldstrasse, the famous Englischer Garten, Residenz (former palace of the Bavarian kings) as well as the world famous Pinakotheken (art galleries) are all within walking distance. You are surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars. U-Bahn 'Universität' and tram stop 'Pinakotheken' are just around the corner. You'll find details about public transport on the "MVV" website in English, just (website hidden) it as links cannot displayed here due to Airbnb-regulations. The quarter was and is still the centre of arts, where 'Der Blaue Reiter', 'Jugendstil'/Art Nouveau etc. were mainly influenced or formed. Sad but true: national socialism and Hitler were also just around the corner ... You'll find yourself in one of the closest to the old town quarters which is one of the liveliest, too.
Although beeing in the centre it's usually very, very quiet since the apartment is situated between 1st and 2nd backyard, surrounded by a nice garden with big trees. The balcony with chairs and table faces south so it's bright and sunny. Same applies to the whole apartment because of the big windows. The furniture is modern-timeless and you'll find many design classics.

We spent 4 nights in Christoph's very clean, comfortable and well appointed apartment. The location is great with many good places to eat in close proximity and with easy access to the Metro. Christoph is a most responsive host who
is very friendly and accommodating. Although the outside temperature was cool, the apartment was always warm and a pleasure to return to after a day of sightseeing.
My wife and I just spent four wonderful days in Munich staying at Christoph's apartment.
The apartment is excellent, exactly as shown and in a great location - lots of bars & restaurants to choose from in the immediate neighbourhood, close to transport and only a 20 minute stroll into the centre of town.
While we did not actually meet up with Christoph we found him very helpful and were particularly thankful that he was able to accommodate our request for an early check in after a long flight from Australia.
We would unhesitatingly recommend the apartment for anyone spending time in Munich.
Apartment was exactly as described and was very satisfactory. The host seems a little obsessive about warnings not to do anything that could damage anything, with pasted on notes all over the place, but in the end this caused no problems with our stay. I recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to stay in a very nice, quiet place in an outstanding area of Munich.
I hope that the notes help to understand that we have for example tap water that comes directly from the alps and can very well be drunk (better than most mineral waters).
From my experience as a host I can say the most guest are very nice, especially in this community. To keep a private apartment like this still requires a considerable amount of prevention. And the best to achieve this is to make it as easy as possible for the guest so that they don't have to fiddle about to get something going. Indeed the guest gets infos by printed sticky tapes and via our instruction pages. They contain everything from how to use the devices to tips for going out. Enjoy!
Super-clean apartment, well-located and well-equipped.
Die Wohnung ist wirklich sehr schön und hat eine perfekte Lage. Die Übergabe der Schlüssel ging reibungslos und auch sonst gab es keine Probleme. Danke für den super Aufenthalt.
Christoph was a kind and helpful host, and his apartment was perfect for us--very well supplied, a comfortable bed, spacious living room with a nice view over the courtyard, and all very modern. Our only problem was that our visit was too short: just two nights and one full day, which was not enough time to explore Munich. The apartment is conveniently located, within easy walking or public transport distance of anywhere visitors might want to go. We'll definitely return for a longer stay.
I can't imaging a better location. The immediate neighborhood and easy access to transportation options (tram, bus, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, etc.) is a significant advantage over other locations. Check-in and check-out were easy and the apartment itself is well equipped and very clean. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen were well equipped. An excellent choice for a stay in Munich.
When we arrived, we were startled to see that the entire balcony side of the apt was enshrouded in painters' scaffolding and tarpaulins. The balcony was dusty and unusable, and the living room, in which our friends would sleep, was dark and claustrophobic. We had informed Christoph more that a month earlier that our two friends would share the apartment with us. He requested that we send, through PayPal, an extra $100 per night. When we complained that he had not told us about the workmen in advance, he minimized our concerns, and claimed that previous guests had not been bothered Quite to the contrary, we and our friends had to contend with painters and equipment on the balcony through most of our stay, beginning at breakfast. Since our friends slept in this front room, their privacy and afternoon naps were disturbed. Christoph eventually agreed to refund part of the additional rental fee, but so far he has not followed through.
Another major frustration was that Christoph could provide only one key for the four of us. Our comings and goings had to be totally synchronized. He told us that the second key had been lost by a previous guest, and that the keying system was so complex that a replacement would be extremely expensive and would take a long time.
Contrary to Christoph's glowing description of the silence in the apartment, there were loud voices in the courtyard during the night and the early morning.
There were other more minor annoyances: We ran out of toilet paper and dish soap. When the complicated espresso machine didn't function properly, Christoph casually suggested that we read the manual, and if necessary re-program the machine. The innumerable reminders taped on the walls such as “Sitting while using the toilet will be appreciated”, and “Please wipe down the shower after every use” suggested that he placed greater importance on the order and cleanliness of the apartment than on the comfort of his guests.
Throughout the years we have had many wonderful experiences renting apartments and houses, in Europe and elsewhere. This was not one of them.
As other guests have said, the apartment is indeed attractively furnished and well located.
Harvey, a pleasant person aged about 80 to 85, was complaining about the scaffolding (not my fault, I apologized) which made the 24 sqm room "claustrophobic" which is – to my opinion "slighly" exaggerated, the complicated coffee machine (one push coffee specialities – I tried it after he was there: it worked perfectly well), the price of the apartment (that he knew or could have knows easily before he booked), and much more. The balcony I cleaned just before they came from some dust he named "dusty and unusable". He didn't accept that I didn't have a second key and that a lost key means several locks and many, many keys have to be replaced, as on key opens the house, the garage, the cellar and my apartment etc.. What other guests liked, he for a big part didn't. Even clearing a second wardrobe for him didn't do. At first he was content as a compensation for the scaffolding being there, later he called me up complaining again when he saw a worker outside on the scaffolding. He even wrote a bad review.
Harvey broke the glass of one of the lamps and said "If you feel you must charge us for the light shade, we saw that the whole furtune costs $ 16.99 at Ikea." He overlooked kindly, however, that someone needs to buy the lamp (IKEA is 45 kms away) and install it. I didn't charge him for that as there was some trouble with the scaffolding (but I think he – to say the least – exaggerates greatly and – he is blaming me for the situation). However since he choose to stay (I offered a € 300 refund if at least two of them were moving to another hotel) i think we are squared now.
Harvey said he and his wife were doctors. I think this should help me to understand that he was right. To me it only proved some arrogance.
Apart from this Harvey was a nice guest .... but he called me an unpleasant person who you don't want to meet, when I talked to him about the incorrect passages of his review.
Great apartment. The location is centrally located close to cafes, U Bahn station, museums etc but in a quiet complex. Apartment itself was very clean, comfortable and well organised.
We (two adults and two children) stayed for 5 nights. Would happily stay again.
This place is really nice and is in a great location in Schwabing a couple of blocks from the U-bahn station. We only stayed here for one night, but we had the best sleep we had in weeks. It is very quiet and clean. The layout is really nice, and the Apple TV and sound system were superior to any other place we have stayed. It was so nice to have the kids watch their own shows on a big screen from our iPad. Christoph was very responsive and helpful all the way through. We would totally recommend this place.
