Magnificent accommodations in a beautiful, quiet setting. Location is excellent for access to sites in the Hilo area. Reasonably priced. Kari was most helpful in every way.
I loved hearing the frogs and waterfall while falling asleep. It is a beautiful and clean house.
What a wonderful house and location - all the rooms are just gorgeous! Only the breakfast was a bit poor and should better not be mentioned as included. But we would come right back here! Very friendly people on top of it.
We are happy to hear you both enjoyed your stay and we would love to have you visit again! Mahalo nui!
Please note that we no longer serve breakfast because that would require a special permit and we do not operate as a Bed and Breakfast. In the past we have served breakfast but we did not charge extra for it and we no longer advertise that we serve breakfast. We do provide Bread, butter, jam, papaya, coffee and herbal teas so you have something to eat the next morning after your arrival. Thank you!

It's a really beautiful historical house with a very nice rainforestlike surrounding. The house itself is worth staying there. It's an easy short drive from the city centre.
The breakfast was a little disappointing. There were maybe ten slices of bread for 6 people for three days. Otherwise the kitchen was fully equipped. There was coffee and tea and fruit. So overall everything was good.
The town itself has a lot of charme and is a lot different from the other plaches we visited in Hawaii. We really liked the 20s building and the cinema from the 1920s.
Hilo is a good place to start your trip to the volcano,
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Hilo House. I just want to clarify that we do not serve breakfast but we do provide a few things like butter, jam, coffee, herbal teas, bread and papaya so you have something to eat the next morning after your arrival. If you read about a breakfast being provided it was for a different listing that we no longer have and I truly apologize if you were expecting something more. Mahalo nui
The house was beautiful. The location was great. Unfortunately the bridge near the house was under construction so navigating to and from town was more of a challenge. If internet is important to you please ask to stay on the side of the house with the strongest signal. The living room area near the router had no problem with signal strength.
The reservation was canceled 52 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
George & Kristie were great hosts.
House was very comfortable, beautifully decorated with many paintings by Kristie and they were very friendly and kind;
Kristie gave us recommendations about where to eat;
We enjoyed healthy breakfast of spelt cooked by George;
Enjoyed chatting with both of them.
Memorable stay in Hilo. Highly recommended!
