Between Candolim & Calangute, in the heart of North Goa. It is tucked away in a quiet lane. A brisk 10 min. walk & you are on the beach, at Aggie’s Shack, on a quiet stretch of Candolim Beach. It is in an ‘idyllic setting”.

The space

A 1950’s style original Portuguese era home, this property has been beautifully restored & well maintained. There is abundant natural light (sky light) & air and the furniture is largely old Portuguese & colonial in style, with a 4-poster bed, planters chairs etc.

It sits 2 double & 1 single bedrooms, with 2 attached bathrooms & a common bathroom. All baths have showers (instant heaters) & 1 bathtub.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a Faber cooking range, microwave & refrigerator. The pantry has a washer & dryer.

The house has split air conditioners in every room and essentially can become a centrally air conditioned home. There is also a 2-battery system UPS inverter that runs all the fans, lights & a few plug points, during power cuts.

Guest access

Wifi in the cottage can connect upto 5 devices, with a full strength signal. Speed is for basic usage & not for heavy downloads & uploads!

The master bedroom has a small TV with all the major channels, including kids & sports.

Interaction with guests

The property has a caretaker who looks after the general daily maintenance of this cottage.

The regular guest's driver is well acquainted with rentals of 2 or 4 wheelers, places to go etc. He charges guests separately for his services.

CCTV cameras are installed on the pathway to the cottage & at the front door entry/ patio area.

Other things to note

This is our home & not a hotel or service apartment style living. My employees are there for the home & not on guest duty. If they help you, it is because they choose to. They are not bound to.

It is an OLD COTTAGE and we choose to keep it simple. The shower is an instant heating unit, not a luxurious fitting with water pressure like that of a hotel!

There are power cuts in Goa. We do have a double battery inverter that kicks in for a few hours & runs majority of the lights & all the fans. Torches, candles etc. may or may not be there for you as some guests leave such things behind & some choose to take what others have left behind!

You are renting the cottage that is fitted with a washing machine. Please do not expect bed sheets to be changed, made, ironed etc., post your checking in. All this is your responsibility to manage.

Binita (caretaker) & her husband Lawrence will receive you. They will guide you through the cottage. They visit daily at 12 noon & 6 pm in the evening, to switch on the security lights for you.

They cannot be denied access to do their job & keep an eye on the well being of our guests & our property.

We are certified by the Health Dept., Fire Dept., Tourism Board & the Calangute Panchayat (local authorities).

It is the law that all foreign nationals be registered with the Goa authorities, hence I will require your Passport, Indian Visa & Air ticket details at time of booking.

Great stay in Goa! Sam & the caretaker Binita were amazing hosts. Great cottage set back from the street, making for a quiet and cozy retreat. Easily accessible to the beach & great restaurants. Sam was easy to communicate with for check in and check out. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!

Fantastic cottage, couldn't recommend more highly! Super quaint and charming, very central (in the heart of Calangute but well off the busy strip), staff were kind and attendant to a fault (especially Binita). And even though we didn't meet Sam who wasn't in Goa, he was very responsive, informative and friendly. If you're looking for a great place to stay in the heart of North Goa, this is it.

We only wish we could've stayed longer, this house is perfect. It's a beautiful home with a lot of charm and nicely decorated in clean simple white walls and local art. The front porch is perfect with the loungers and the location is just off the main road for a peaceful setting. The beach is just a short 5min walk on the road behind the house and we spent the day at prince of tides beach shack. We were worried calangunte would be too busy but the beach we were at was perfectly calm, no crowds and only 5 of us at the shack. The road in front has plenty of restaurants and scooter rental options and a massage and salon place called snip was great, just out front. Sam was very responsive and a truly great host. His caretaker and housekeeper were always available and did our laundry as well. His driver picked us up from the airport and return which was very helpful. We couldn't have picked a better home to enjoy north goa from- it's ideal!

Sam's place was a wonderful experience. Neat clean well maintained. Enjoyed every moment there. Didn't meet him personally but he was reachable over the phone. House help was there to receive us and to clean every day. Very nice lady and the Driver he got us for airport was great. The front porch was a plus to chill early morning and nights. I loved the place being surrounded by nature. It appeared sitting in Rain Forest. Thanks Sam for keeping such a place for us. Will definitely stay there when in Goa

It was pretty nice and very close to the beach. Good for a big group looking to rent for a weekend. It took some time to get to the cities and clubs, but I'd stay here again!

The whole set up was perfect. Sam gave me contact numbers, so when I got into Calangute (to which we'd never been) we were able to call the folks who take care of the place and they guided us in. It would have been impossible to find without guidance. The place itself was very pleasant, a bit run down, but we preferred it this way to something modern. For anything that we couldn't figure out or make work, Sam and the folks taking care of the place were able to sort out.
