Interaction with Guests

I have a non-traditional job so I am in and out during the day, but I'm generally home in the evenings. My home is pretty quiet and mellow :)

I want you to feel welcome and comfortable. If for you that means keeping to yourself and just crashing here at night, that's totally fine! If you prefer to have a friendly chat when we cross paths, that's also great!

The Neighborhood

Friendly, diverse, residential neighborhood. Lots of families and kids. There's a little corner store a 5-10 minute walk away that has all the groceries/snacks you'll need in addition to an amazing bakery. Next door to the store is a taqueria with tasty burritos. There are several places to eat and a Starbucks a 5-minute drive away.

Getting around

Easy access to highways 101 and 84, free driveway parking. The SamTrans 281 bus stops about a block from the house.

Other Things to Note

Flexible check-in time pending availability. Last-minute bookings can usually be accommodated, so don't hesitate to contact me.

There is a cat in the house. She is shy so you may not see much of her. Unless you bring cans of tuna, in which case she will be your new BFF. (Incidentally: she is not allowed in the guest bedroom and I vacuum frequently with a HEPA filter vacuum).

  • This was an outstanding experience top to bottom. Sarah is a delightful person and the accommodations were perfect. Super comfortable bed and very neat/clean room and bathroom. Sarah is clearly an airbnb vet as she pays attention to all the little things that make the difference between a great and a mediocre stay. I recommend going with Sarah without reservation. I can't think of one thing she could have done to improve the experience. I'm definitely coming back when she has the availability. Five stars.

  • I was traveling to Menlo Park for a friends' wedding and needed a place to stay overnight. I decided to try airbnb for the first time. Well, I am SO glad I found Sarah on airbnb! Beaming with kindness and warm hospitality, Sarah made my stay feel like I was at home. She is super relaxed, open, and inviting. I'd also like to note that I have rarely seen a more clean and comfortable house than hers. In particular, I enjoyed spending a relaxed morning having coffee and conversation with Sarah and playing with Annabelle (her adorable orange tabby). With a colorful backyard garden, hammock, back patio, and roomy kitchen - it's hard to beat a place like this!

  • We stayed with Sarah for the weekend and it was a wonderful stay. Sarah was very welcoming and accommodating to our varied needs. Her home is super cute and very clean and comfortable. She also has a very pretty garden to relax in. We also really enjoyed spending a little time here and there to get to know Sarah.
I would stay there again! Thanks Sarah.

  • Sarah greeted us with such warmth and friendliness that we immediately felt comfortable and at home. Her house is lovely. The outside has a beautiful garden and a private area to sit, relax, and enjoy the sundry flowers. The interior is very clean, comfortable, and exudes Sarah's positive energy. The bedroom had all that we needed, including blackout curtains. Sarah has wonderful attention to detail. She left us a welcoming note, bottled water, and some snacks in our room.
The location is fantastic and has easy access to Palo Alto and the rest of the Bay Area. One could easily go on day trips all over the Bay Area and have a cozy place to stay at Sarah's house. We highly recommend Sarah's place when staying in the Bay Area.

  • Sarah was a wonderful hostess, and her room and home exceeded our expectations. This was our first AirBnB stay, and Sarah has set the bar high for our future hosts!

  • Sarah was an amazing host! She is very thoughtful, kind, conscientious, and flexible. There were gorgeous roses, water bottles, granola bars, candy, and a personal note upon our arrival.

The bedroom, bathroom, and house were spotless. We are allergic to cats, but Sarah cleans so thoroughly that we didn't have a problem. Annabelle is so adorable! The bathroom was just outside the bedroom and was more like a private bath than a shared bath to us. The bed was super comfortable and the neighborhood was very quiet so we slept really really well. The garden is a stunningly beautiful, tranquil oasis complete with a 2 person hammock. Thanks to you and your Mom for the Meyer lemons!

We came for our son's graduation from Stanford, but also drove to Berkeley, Napa, San Jose, and Santa Barbara, so the location was perfect. This was our first airbnb stay and I don't think we'll stay in a hotel again! I'm only afraid that Sarah set such a high standard that no other place will be able to match hers!

  • Sarah goes above and beyond what you would think an Airbnb host should be. She was extremely welcoming as a person and provided clean towels, water and a snack upon our arrival, which was a nice touch. The room and her home was as she described: simple, comfortable and clean. The bed was comfy, there was plenty of closet space with hangers, extra blankets, and just in case you forgot any toiletries, she had a basket of things to choose from. She gave excellent direction for places to eat and a great running trail we could use early in the morning. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Sarah's place.

  • Sarah is a very pleasant host, friendly and helpful. The place is as characterised on her profile: Simple, comfortable and clean. She even lent me her bike to use. Highly recommended

  • Everything about this place worked out perfect for me. Easy parking, close to all my Palo Alto appointments, quiet, and great water pressure in the shower! Sarah takes her role as a great airbnb host very seriously, and it shows in all the little "over and above" things she does. Water and snacks, the basket of toiletries just in case I forgot anything, etc.

One additional hint in case you are looking for a place to workout close by. You can sign up for a free 7-day pass to the East Palo Alto YMCA which is only a mile down the road. It was a fabulous place to work out with tons of new equipment and never that crowded (unlike the Palo Alto Y).

  • Exactly as advertised. I don't like animals in the same living quarters I'm in, and as promised, there was no sign of the cat in the bedroom. Flexible host, convenient location, comfortable bed.

I was born and raised in Palo Alto, CA but have called many places home over the years, including Washington state, London, Indianapolis, Chicago, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Washington D.C. I'm happy to be home again in the Bay Area! I think this is one of the greatest places in the world! I love gardening and plants, and enjoy spending time in my backyard working on garden science projects! I also enjoy cooking, Zumba, reading, and trashy reality TV. I decided to list a space in my home on AirBnB because I have met so many wonderful people during my travels. The Bay Area is a marvelous part of the world and I love hosting people who come to visit it!
