This 3 story house is 50 meters from the progressive Abbot Kinney Bl, and it is 600 meters, straight down Winward to the heart of the Venice Board Walk. The house is a minute bike ride to the beach, but far enough away for peace of mind. You are in walking distance to Main Street, lower Santa Monica, Venice Canals, buses, taxi's, shops, restaurants. For your morning coffee or tea, Intelligentsia is a stones throw away. This flat is on the West side of Abbot Kinney, just off Winward. Goldilocks would find this local, just right.
The beauty about this space is that it is so close to all that Venice, Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey has to offer... yet it is tranquil, hip, and beautiful. I moved from an apt on the Venice boardwalk after 8 years, and I can write from experience that 'this is the way to do Venice'.
It is an all natural house hold. All cotton linens, towels, no chemical cleaners or fragrances. Water filters are provided for drinking and showers. You get wireless internet, a queen bed, and small desk / work station in your room; as well as access to a printer. You also have a small outdoor patio just outside your room.
As for you host, Matt makes a raw superfood line of mylks, puddings, and skin cream. You can check his site at thefeelgoodlounge. He also performs stand up, takes improv and writing classes.....Matt also loves to play tennis.
p.s.- there are bikes available to guests. Parking: it is street parking, plus sharing of a private spot, if needed. Parking is plentiful, just out front or in back of the flat. The only caveats are street sweeping for 2 hours on Mon / Tues, and it gets tight on Sat and Sun from 12 to 6. With a little local knowledge, parking is easy. Every evening is wide open, as well as all weekdays.
Bikes, Backyard, Lounge Room. DIY breakfast, including complimentary: fresh fruit, oatmeal, teas, coffee, on demand boiling and drinking water . Keurig Coffee w/ Starbucks K-cups. Refrigerator and toaster included.
Interaction with Guests
I will interact with guests if I am in the kitchen and they are passing through. I am on a different floor than the guest rooms, so interaction takes place on the main floor. Guest rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Beautiful, artistic homes and tree lined streets make the immediate area a treasure. A 5 minute walk puts you on the Venice boardwalk or canals. Abbot Kinney is a stones throw away, so you've got some of LA's best cafe's, restaurants, and boutiques just around the corner.
There is lots to explore within a 5 to 10 minute walk: Canals, Venice Pier, Boardwalk, Beach, Abbot Kinney, the Marina. Bikes are complimentary and a great way to take in the boardwalk, Santa Monica Pier and the 3rd street Promenade.
Major bus hubs and stops are within a 2 minute walk and taxi's are also just minutes away. Star Line bus tours are a great way to see LA.
Other Things to Note
You may request samples of my sprouted almond mylks and superfood puddings and they are available for sale.
Welcome to a slice of historic Venice. The blue bungalows were built in the early 1900's on the original canal network. Please walk gingerly up the spiral stairs and be mindful of other guests and neighbors. Complimentary food and drink is located in the main lounge room, where you can also enter and exit the house and use bikes. I work hard to keep the house free of chemical detergents and fragrances and appreciate if you do too. If you leave house early or late, please use back door entry/exit. The spiral stairs are available from 9am to 9pm.
Matthew is really a nice host. He contacted us well in advance and offered to show us routes to visit around. The room itself is awesome! It is quiet and private. Also, we like the biking service a lot although we didn't use the bikes at last. Overall, this place is highly recommended!
We had an amazing time staying at Matthew's in Venice !! Absolutely loved the area, great to be so near to the hussle and bussle but a little removed from it. We used it as a base for a three day stopover in LA and found we felt at home half way across the world. The room was lovely, the coffee/fruit provided was greatly appreciated, and the little courtyard out the back was great to relax in after a day exploring the neighbourhood ! Would definitely recommend !!!
Eco-pad is a great location for exploring Venice Beach. Is as advertised, clean and comfy with extras of coffee and bikes!! Matthew makes communication, check in and intros super easy and was around in kitchen and patio area to give local suggestions.
I stayed at Matthew's home 3 nights at the beginning of my holiday and it was a wonderful experience.
The room was very clean and so nice, completely in line with the description done on Airbnb.
During my staying Matthew helped me organizing some transfers in the city.
The breakfast is very very good with bio-food.
Everything perfect , nice ,clean, friendly, helpfull, super close to Venice Beach,Bus Stops,Post Office ,get a bike from Matthew ! If i would go to L.A. again ,i would love to stay there again ! All the best ! Natalie (Swiss)
We had a great stay! The location is superb and we had everything we needed in the flat. Matthew was really helpful and we loved the fact that we had access to bikes! Thank you for a great stay!
Matt was a great host! Parking was easy although I had heard parking is hard in that area. The neighborhood is perfect, quaint and quiet. There was AC in the room to be connected at night which was a plus because there was unseasonably hot weather in LA during our visit. Thank you Matt! Venice was our favorite out of all of the areas we visited in out 10 days in LA!

About the Host, Matthew
I am 47 years old and have lived in Venice Bch for 11 years. I have been an Airbnb host for 6 years, at 3 different properties, all on the ocean in Venice Beach. I run an eco-friendly, green household, by way of all natural linens and detergents, and I am around to help guests out. I love to play tennis and I am studying and practicing improv at various schools in LA.
