Our mission: “Exceed our guests’ expectations of a budget hotel by providing outstanding customer service and dependable information. Commit resources and time to preserve the values and traditions of our community and Costa Rica, Pura Vida & Pura Hospitality, the best family typical de Monteverde & Costa Rica. All our rooms have very comfortable beds, bed linen, towels & hot water. (* At ‘Cabinas El Pueblo Monteverde’ is usual to see a Sloth right opposite the house)
A great place to stay if you need to stay in Monteverde a couple nights. The reception desk is really helpful if you need to book any activities. They kindly provide breakfast as well. Overall, good value for the price, especially since you get your own room.
We are a family of four and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hostel Cabinas el Pueblo. We dealt with Marlenny via email before we arrived, and she was prompt and helpful in her replies. When we arrived, we primarily interacted with Freddy. He does not speak English, but his Spanish was clear, simple and slow--very important for someone with limited Spanish abilities like me! Freddy was helpful and informative and always had a smile on his face.
The best example I can give to illustrate how helpful Freddy and Marlenny are involves my wife's hat. We had to leave very early on our checkout day, and my wife inadvertently left her new Monteverde cap in our room. She was pretty bummed out, but we were halfway to San Jose by the time we rezlied it, so I emailed Marlenny. She said they found it and would put it in the mail for us!
Our room was tidy and clean, with bunk beds for our boys (always a plus when they don't have to share a bed). The communal kitchen was very useful, and we ate a delicious breakfast there one morning (prepared by the staff) and made dinner for ourselves one night.
The hotel is right in town, and just down the hill from restaurants and a large grocery store. We never had any trouble parking, but we mostly walked everywhere when our destination was in town.
Cabinas el Pueblo was a great base of operations for our stay in Monteverde, and I highly recommend it.
