It's a great location near lots of cool restaurants, boutiques, Whole Foods, and subway to Manhattan.
We have stayed in many rental apartments in New York and this was far the best. We travel a lot and stay in different kind of places; sometimes in five star hotels, sometimes in rental apartments, etc. There was 8 people in our group(5adults, one two years old and two 3 months old infants). The apartment was quite tight for us all but we are family(me and my husband+our two kids, my sister and her husband+one kid and our mom) and travel together a lot so it wasn't problem with us. The apartment is very light and clean. It's true that kitchen is small but we made breakfast there without problems. Most of the nights we ate take away at home and had enough space for us all to eat. The apartment is on the ground floor which made it easy for us with the strollers. The beds are big so we were sleeping with the kids in bed. There is a sofa bed in the living room which is good for one or two small adults.
It was very cold during our stay but the apartment was warm. Only the bathrooms are very cold. We couldn't use the garden because of the snow, but that's very nice addition during warmer months.
We can recommend the apartment to other people. It can accommondate 5 adults without problem. When we next time come to NYC, we'll be staying there again!
Found this haven at the last minute and it was great
it was very professional and easy to deal with the owners and the rental agency.
the apartment was clean and great for my parents.
the heating was a bit tough to regulate, but except from that, no complaints. Would strongly recommend!
We have made a family (group of 5) travel to NY on October 2013. Everything was really good! The apartment was clean and cozy. Linens, towels, bathroom and kitchen stuff were provided. Our host Jana was very caring with us. She has gave us a welcome basket with sweets, fruit and a bottle of wine. Also they take care for changing the towels and take out the garbage.
The apartment is very well located, close to Brooklyn's 5th Av. and to Union St. subway station, there are several restaurants and grocery stores in the area. The neighborhood is nice and safe (even at night). If you take Union St. subway you get to Manhattan's Financial District in 15 minutes and you are 20-30 minutes away from Central Park and all NY attractions.
Brooklyn is a really good option to stay if you are traveling to NY, is very well communicated with Manhattan and 50% cheaper. You can get away from all the noise and traffic from Manhattan for a good rest.
Definitely we will rent again the apartment or any other place manage by Jennifer!
A great space in a great spot, John was a good host and sorted us out with an air bed too. The shower is really nice. The garden was a bit over grown but we didn't feel the need to use it anyway as we were quite busy. There's a subway station close by, the G line can take you to Williamsburg and the F line right into Manhattan which is pretty handy.
We absolutely loved this apartment! Three of us stayed there comfortably. It's in a fantastic location close to everything you could want, and having the outdoor space is a real treat in NYC! Highly recommended.
The apartment is really one of a kind!!. Great location and area. we are a family of 4 and the place was great for us. there are AC in each room. the TV LCD in the leaving room is great with all channels .full of restaurants and places to hang out. 2 minutes from subway station and from the Broadway shopping's..
The Pub below is not too noisy. There is also a french bread bakery below, each morning we bought a french baguette to start the day.
The host was great. we arrived very early (6AM) in the morning and he was waiting for us to let us in. there is also a big grocery 2 minutes from the apartment were we bought all kind of food we needed. the kitchen is equipped with all we needed to cook for our family. we are recommending the place to all our family members who wants to visit NYC and we definitely will be back.

Our original reservation with Jennifer (for her "Park Slope 2 Bedroom with Garden" apartment) was canceled one week prior to our arrival, and we were offered this location in its place. While the space is listed as a two-bedroom, it's essentially a one-bedroom apartment that has had the living area converted into another bedroom. There were four of us staying in the apartment, and while there were enough beds, the living space itself could not really accommodate our group. This is fine if you're just needing a place to sleep and leave your stuff while you're visiting the city.
- The garden area is great; it's about the same size as the rest of the apartment and could be a good extension of the living space with more seating options (currently there's just one table/four chairs.)
- The apartment was pretty much brand-new, and very clean.
- We were close to the subway, and also very close to lots of bars/restaurants.
- The kitchen area was nice (but small) - we were provided with coffee, tea, and creamer.
- Because of the open nature of the apartment, there's not really any privacy, and the downstairs bedroom does not have a door between it and the rest of the space. The upstairs bedroom does have a wall separating it from the rest of the apartment, but it does not go all the way to the ceiling. With no sound insulation, we could hear every sound that happened upstairs (down to a sniffle or a cough), and vice versa.
- The "living room" was almost non-existent; there was enough room for about 2 people to be there at once, but not really any more than that.
- There were two bathrooms, both of a decent size, but the actual showers were very small - this was definitely a concern for my female companions, who had trouble figuring out how to shave their legs in the tiny space.
Again, this would be a great place to stay as long as you don't mind sacrificing privacy, and just need a place to leave your belongings while you're traveling about the city.
Our Bergen Street stay was very enjoyable - a little home away from home in wonderful Brooklyn. The full size kitchen and lovely back garden were highlights for us. We were a little surprised that Jennifer was not actually our host but Eva and John were quite approachable and full of helpful local advice.
The self contained apartment is on the lower ground level and offers complete privacy.
