About this listing
This artsy two-bedroom apartment is in a classic turn-of-the-century building, just two blocks from San Telmo's Plaza Dorrego and two blocks away from the modern Puerto Madero. It's a great location.
Funky, warm, and very cozy, the Oasis (that's what we call this spot) feels like an artist's oasis or studio. It's in the details and, of course, the paintings. Vintage signs cover the wall above the kitchen table. Birds on a wire are painted above the sink. A Buddha sits above the sofa. A wall of gorgeous windows filters in the soft light. High ceilings with vintage chandeliers in the living room. And one of the funkiest bathrooms ever. This home has been loved.
The master bedroom is large enough to be a studio apartment. It sleeps two and has a small sitting area. There's a second bedroom upstairs with a twin bed, a vintage trunk and a desk for those who are also working while here.
The kitchen is connected to the living room. It's equipped for cooking whether it be breakfast or a gourmet dinner.
If you love the bohemian, artsy vibe of San Telmo, you're going to love The Oasis. Come stay with us!
IMPORTANT: Please note that this apartment does not have air conditioning. It's got two fans and there are lots of windows to let in a cross-breeze. But summer can be very hot in Buenos Aires, so if you are not used to sleeping without A/C, this apartment may not be suited for you.
Check-ins and check-outs are flexible. If there are no other guests coming or going, you can stay late if your flight is leaving late. If you are arriving early, we will find a place for you to keep your bags until the apartment is ready. But, please understand that we cannot do late check-ins. You must arrive before 8pm, especially on weekends. If you are going to arrive after 8pm, send me a message. I may be able to accommodate you.
Everything. This is not a shared apartment.

Angela, Grisel, or Andrew will check you in and show you around. We are always available before, during and even after your trip to offer tips and suggestions and we love doing so!
We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.
We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.
You'll want to explore San Telmo's casas de tango, small traditional restaurants known as bodegones, old-fashioned bars called Nares notables, antique and vintage shops, and the trendy new restaurants, cafes, and fancy boutiques. Day or night, San Telmo is full of activity.
In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.
We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off in the kiosk below us. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.
Below us, on Paseo Colon, there are several useful bus lines with stops right on our block. You can get to most parts of the city from a bus right outside of the door.
The closest subway stop is 8 blocks away, but we tend to walk 15 minutes to Plaza de Mayo where you can catch the green line and then change to any other one stop from there.
Also, on Paseo Colon, you'll pretty much always find a taxi and they're quite cheap in BA. Just make sure you take one that is either Radio Taxi or Taxi Premium.
-There is no smoking in the apartment.
-If you break something, you will be charged for its replacement.
-If you lose the keys, you will be charged for their replacement.
-No loud noise after 10pm on weekdays and after midnight on weekends.
-No parties. Please do not invite guests who are not included on the reservation without approval from Angela.
-You are on vacation but your neighbors are not. Please keep your voices low when you’re coming in late (both in the hallways and around the elevator). Others in the building are sleeping and its easy to forget that voices travel.
Angela was an ideal host for our stay in Buenos Aires! She offered pitch-perfect advice for restaurants and activities and helped us make the most of our time in the city. She also helped us navigate the public transportation and arranged a cab for us on our way out of the city (at 6 am, no less!).
The apartment boasts an excellent location, walking distance from all the great things to do in the San Telmo neighborhood. It was clean, well stocked with cooking supplies and extra blankets and very cozy. We loved it!
Angela is a wonderful host! She is so friendly, accommodating, flexible and is sincerely interested in the well-being of her guests. She provided a guide to San Telmo which should be published. The layout and content are a travelers dream. I went to some of her restaurant suggestions and she definitely has good taste.
The apartment is fun and different. It is an artists place and this really shows. From the wonderful artwork on the walls to the statue that greets you to the layout of the apartment. I had a very enjoyable stay here.
We stayed in the apartment for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Its very charming and and although it is on a busy street its rather peaceful inside. It's also in a very good location, just 2 minutes walk to the heart of San Telmo. Angela was very helpful, as many other reviewers before us have found. She gave us a great introduction and guide to the area, restaurant/bar/tango tips/transport etc. It was especially great on our last day when she minded bags in her apartment all day (she lives in the same building) because there was someone else checking in, and our bus wasn't until nighttime. Make sure you visit the Sunday market, it was definitely the highlight of our time in San Telmo!
Angela and her place were phenomenal.
First off she accepted us on short notice even tho she had someone leaving the same day we were arriving.
she was very clear on directions and how to contact her, and even gave alternate methods of contact to make sure that we wouldnt be waiting around to get in on arrival.
Her place is in the heart of San Telmo in a very old building. from the moment you step inside your transported back in time with a very old school cage like elevator that took us up to our place. She brought us inside and was very informative about everything and even had a book with listings of things to do and places to go(Which was very helpful). She even had fake bills and showed us how to figure them out so we didnt end up with counterfeits. We used her tips and cabbies were impressed that we knew how to handle the money situation. it shows them your not a newbie.
She gave us other ins and outs and recommended some places as well. we went to one place she recommended that truly turned out to be an amazing experience full of percussion. if you go you must see "La bomba del tiempo"
the apartment was amazing as well. lots of cool artwork and an upstairs bedroom that had a closet made from a chest.
it was just such a neat place to be in. Plenty to do in the area just walking distance, from yoga classes, to markets, to seeing tango. the esxperience was unforgettable.
i would recommend this place again and again to anyone.
Angela we cant thank you enough for having us.
It was a pleasure getting to know you and your family.
I cannot speak highly enough of our experience in Angela's apartment in Buenos Aires, everything was absolutely perfect. The apartment was so beautiful, we woke up every morning happy to be there. The kitchen was very well stocked and even had all the spices, oils and vinegars you may need. Angela was the perfect host and gave us the best check-in introduction I've had. The hand book she's created has all the information you may need, including maps, plus some very good tips about the city (where to eat, where to drink, where to shop etc.) and how to avoid being scammed with fake notes. The apartment has a metro card to be recharged and used by guests, as well as a mobile phone that can be charged with credit and a landline. There really is nothing that she hasn't thought of. Staying in this apartment made our time in Buenos Aires all the better and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm back.
The Gallery apartment was unique, cute, & artsy. It has tons of character. The best part was Angela, though. She was so sweet, helpful & full of information. Rent a place with Angela as your host & you get so much more than a place to stay.

About the Host, Angela
I've begun splitting my time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires, so if I'm not there in BA when you stay with us, my friends Grisel and Andrew will be there to take care of you.
I taught writing in universities around the world for most of my life (Italy, Panama, France, Miami, Egypt). Now I run my own vacation rental business.
My husband John is a filmmaker. He makes family films. The actors are often our three cats: Felipe, Cortado and Bonzie.
John and I both love cooking, music, and, of course, travel. In 2015 we took a five-week trip in South America, so if you have any questions about traveling you think I can help with, let me know. I'm happy to help.
We've been renting out our spaces since 2008; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. A bunch of them even came to our wedding in April 2015. Talk about an inspiring group of guests.
