About this listing
This artsy two-bedroom apartment is in a classic turn-of-the-century building, just two blocks from San Telmo's Plaza Dorrego and two blocks away from the modern Puerto Madero. It's a great location.
Funky, warm, and very cozy, the Oasis (that's what we call this spot) feels like an artist's oasis or studio. It's in the details and, of course, the paintings. Vintage signs cover the wall above the kitchen table. Birds on a wire are painted above the sink. A Buddha sits above the sofa. A wall of gorgeous windows filters in the soft light. High ceilings with vintage chandeliers in the living room. And one of the funkiest bathrooms ever. This home has been loved.
The master bedroom is large enough to be a studio apartment. It sleeps two and has a small sitting area. There's a second bedroom upstairs with a twin bed, a vintage trunk and a desk for those who are also working while here.
The kitchen is connected to the living room. It's equipped for cooking whether it be breakfast or a gourmet dinner.
If you love the bohemian, artsy vibe of San Telmo, you're going to love The Oasis. Come stay with us!
IMPORTANT: Please note that this apartment does not have air conditioning. It's got two fans and there are lots of windows to let in a cross-breeze. But summer can be very hot in Buenos Aires, so if you are not used to sleeping without A/C, this apartment may not be suited for you.
Check-ins and check-outs are flexible. If there are no other guests coming or going, you can stay late if your flight is leaving late. If you are arriving early, we will find a place for you to keep your bags until the apartment is ready. But, please understand that we cannot do late check-ins. You must arrive before 8pm, especially on weekends. If you are going to arrive after 8pm, send me a message. I may be able to accommodate you.
Everything. This is not a shared apartment.
Interaction with Guests
Angela, Grisel, or Andrew will check you in and show you around. We are always available before, during and even after your trip to offer tips and suggestions and we love doing so!
We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.
We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.
You'll want to explore San Telmo's casas de tango, small traditional restaurants known as bodegones, old-fashioned bars called Nares notables, antique and vintage shops, and the trendy new restaurants, cafes, and fancy boutiques. Day or night, San Telmo is full of activity.
In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.
We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off in the kiosk below us. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.
Below us, on Paseo Colon, there are several useful bus lines with stops right on our block. You can get to most parts of the city from a bus right outside of the door.
The closest subway stop is 8 blocks away, but we tend to walk 15 minutes to Plaza de Mayo where you can catch the green line and then change to any other one stop from there.
Also, on Paseo Colon, you'll pretty much always find a taxi and they're quite cheap in BA. Just make sure you take one that is either Radio Taxi or Taxi Premium.
-There is no smoking in the apartment.
-If you break something, you will be charged for its replacement.
-If you lose the keys, you will be charged for their replacement.
-No loud noise after 10pm on weekdays and after midnight on weekends.
-No parties. Please do not invite guests who are not included on the reservation without approval from Angela.
-You are on vacation but your neighbors are not. Please keep your voices low when you're coming in late (both in the hallways and around the elevator). Others in the building are sleeping and its easy to forget that voices travel.
