One bedroom and bath in guest house on working olive ranch in the beautiful countryside of the Santa Ynez Valley. Private entrance, king bed, and private full bath. Cozy wood-framed cottage. Non-smoking. Near Los Olivos, wineries and vineyards.
This cozy one bedroom guest house has it's own entrance and bath, with a lovely view of the olive orchard. This is the only bedroom in the guest house - all to yourselves! The bathroom is a full bath with a large tub and has its own hot water heater. The guest house is well shaded, there is both a front and back patio. Rental includes in room coffee maker and free olive oil tasting. There is no fridge or microwave, so please plan accordingly. Free wi-fi is available. There is no cable, but a large HD flat screen with an excellent selection of movies. There is an office adjacent to the bedroom that is used occaisonally during the day. Rental is best suited to a single or couple; there is not really room for more than that, including children. Property is a 20 acre ranch. Please be advised we have 4 dogs and 2 cats (plus chickens and horses). The cottage is not air conditioned but well shaded with large oaks. You have your own patio in the front and access to a larger patio in the rear of the cottage. Dogs and cats do share the outdoor space and love visitors. Ladies, be advised that high heels are *not* recommended around the ranch. Nothing is paved, so having some comfortable walking shoes will make your experience much more pleasant. The days can be warm but the nights are usually cool, in the 40-50 degree range. The place is usually quiet with little traffic or other noise.
Guests will be able to wander through the orchard, and also wander around the farm and check out the fabulous view from the top of our hill. Dogs often act as furry guides. Guests can also visit with the ranch dogs and kitties. Front and back patio use, not shared. As we have 4 dogs, including a bossy older Corgi girl, please do not bring your pets.
We are happy to recommend restaurants and wineries, and also give directions for different activities. Trail rides may also be available with advance booking. Owners live on property and are available to solve any issues that may arise.
We are relatively close to town but not in town. There is a winery across the street. You do need a car to access the towns in our valley. The neighborhood is mostly ranches, with ours having the most (olive) trees.
Not much in the way of public transportation, so a car is required to explore the area. Lots of cyclists are about, so bringing a bicycle to explore is a good idea. It is possible to walk to Los Olivos if you like a good stretch of the legs (about 1.5 miles)
This is a working ranch, so there is usually some activity going on - but not near the guest house. Dogs and cats share the outdoor space. We do have horses on the property, and trail rides might be available. There is plenty of birdsong in the morning, and always a lovely view.

We stayed with Shannon and her husband for one night. The property was beautiful. The room was clean, yet very small and did not have a working tv - only set up for the dvd-player. Didn't really matter for us.
However, for us, travelling with a one year old child it was a problem that there was no microwave and we didn't feel comfortable asking to use Shannon's, yet we had to because the girl needed food. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are travelling with children. However, if you are a couple or travelling alone in the area, it works.
This little spot worked out very well for us. Location is close to the things you'll want to do. Clean. Enjoyed the dogs, especially Scout and the Golden. Cat seemed to thrive on company also. Fun to walk around the vinyard, see the horses, etc. Learned a bit about Olive Oil. Their's are VERY good!
My husband and I loved the guest house! Right when we got out of the car, we were happily greeted by their dogs! It was so relaxing to walk into the olive orchard and be in such a beautiful location. The room had everything we needed and Shannon was a great host! We took home two bottles of their delicious olive oil after doing a tasting. We even walked across the road and tasted wine at Brander Winery. We had such a great, rejuvenating weekend in such a unique, lovely place!
Juliette - thank you for bringing the dvd problem to our attention. Someone else had mentioned it but everyone else had said it worked. I am sorry (wish I had known) - it was a hookup issue - some renter had changed the configuration - I am so sorry. But it is being solved now! Thanks again.
Shannon and John were prompt and very attentive to our communications. The listing was just as we expected - very nice. The real wood paneling is beautiful and the grounds are so peaceful. We didn't have much time to explore the neighborhood, but a stroll through the olive grove was cool. One issue is that there is no cable television (which is we didn't notice in the description) and we had a technical issue with the tv screen when we wanted to watch a dvd where the was unwatchable, but it could have been a glitch in the matrix. Would definitely recommend to everyone to spend some time on the Olive Ranch.
Our time on the Olive Ranch was wonderful. A peaceful environment, quiet setting, and very comfortable accommodations. Everyone we met out there from the owners to their animal tribe... were all very nice. Very close to Solvang, Los Olivos and many beautiful photo opportunities. We would definitely come back, oh and PS.... make sure you check out their olive oil tasting..... a delicious addition to your stay
We stayed for 3 days and loved it. This is a unique little house, tiny but with everything you need. Very comfy bed, lovely tranquil location surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. Perfect location for visiting wineries. Shannon could not have been a better host, I was sick with a really bad cold and she kept bringing me hot tea and remedies. Very warm and welcome place, with the cutest dogs to cuddle too. Highly recommended.
The guest house was clean and in a really nice location. Very close to everything. About halfway between Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. Shannon was amazing. She gave us an olive oil tasting and allowed us to walk around the property with our wine. She was kind and attentive.
The room is small with everything you need. The area is rustic with friendly dogs, a great cat and dozens of horses. Sit out on the patio and look over the olives. We will stay with Shannon again.
my wife and i stayed in the guestroom. it was clean and comfortable and quiet. the dogs at the ranch were very friendly. the location of the ranch is very good and close to los olivos and a lot of winaries. great if you have a bike.
We had a lovely stay in Shannon's guest house. It was just as described. Small but comfortable. The farm was great and the animals great company. We got a private tasting of the olive oils. We would recommend the place without any hesitations.
We had a lovely 2 night stay with Shannon, her husband and the dogs. The area is gorgeous, too. We had a wonderful time and hope to return some day.
