The Space

Our house is a new, energy-efficient home in one of Memphis's oldest neighborhoods. With a big front porch and an open kitchen, we love to welcome new people to town with a big dose of Southern hospitality. We have a playful kitten and a loving dog. The available room will comfortably fit two travelers. Space on the couch for a third traveler is available for an additional $10/night.

Guests will be able to use the kitchen and relax in our common areas. There are large bookcases full of good reads and a projector for movie nights. Basic toiletries are available for guests. Also, there is a bicycle available for you to use.

Uptown is a fantastic neighborhood. It's the oldest residential neighborhood in Memphis, with lots of history lurking around every corner. Take a ten minute walk to the Riverfront, or go see Slavehaven (a stop on the Underground Railroad turned museum) only a few blocks away. All of the downtown amenities are within walking distance of the house. It's a great location!

It's a four block walk to the trolley line, a three block walk to the bus terminal, and a five minute walk to the River. Downtown amenities are a fifteen minute walk or a quick trolley ride away. The Amtrak terminal is just a mile away. If you arrive by car, parking is definitely included.

  • I would like to start by saying mary was very friendly and could accommodate any check in and out. it is a roof over your head and a bed to crash in for a night. Hey its 50 bucks. you can not beat that with a stick. I was taken back by the neighborhood. I personally didn't feel all that comfortable in the area and would drive everywhere in memphis (judging by everything I seen) it is about 10 minutes from graceland which is the reason we stayed here. Be sure to bring a labtop or dvd player as there is no t.v here. It beats staying in a super 8!

  • Super stay with Mary and Wes. Their house is in a great location; easy to drive to, and only a couple of blocks away from the top end of the Main Street trolley line. Lovely bright and airy room, with a very comfy bed, and access to a shared bathroom (with amazing shower pressure!). Fantastic breakfast each morning, with coffee. Mary and Wes really went the extra mile: staying up late to let me in after a late train, and recommending and then booking a medical appointment for me. An added bonus were their dog and cat, who were very friendly. I'd definitely stay with them again.

  • Would definitely recommend a stay with Mary and Wez. Mary was very welcoming and helpful and offered to give us a lift to Graceland if we needed it. Didn't see much of Wez which was a shame but they have a lovely dog called Allegra who we loved.. House is very clean and quite homely for us whilst travelling. The breakfast was a nice touch as well.

  • This was a great place to stay. Mary and Wes were really hospitable and fun to talk with. They offer two bedrooms and we stayed two nights with them, one night in each room. Both rooms were spacious, with comfortable beds. That we could use their kitchen was an additional bonus, and that they served a light breakfast in the morning, too. Furthermore, if we had a chance, we would take their adorable dog Allegra home with us, we totally loved her. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Mary and Wes were great hosts. We were only stopping through for a night while driving cross county, and they were very accommodating and flexible when it came to our check in times

  • It was a good and comfortable stay! The room was clean and bright. Bathroom was clean too. The hosts, Mary and Wes, such a beautiful couple! Wes helped us to bring one of our two heavy suitcases upstairs which I so appreciate. I forgot my hairdryer home, I asked Mary, and she was willing to give me hers. They own a yellow cat and a black dog, both of them are truly sweethearts. We'll def stay again next time if we spend some nights in Memphis.

  • Our stay with Mary and Wes was awesome! They had plenty of suggestions about what was worthwhile in Memphis. They were very friendly and even let us tag along to a Grizzlies game.

About
Hey y'all, we're Mary and Wes, and we love Memphis. We run an urban farmer training school together called Roots Memphis Farm Academy and what keeps us going is our love of good food. Wes has traveled extensively through Europe, and if you give him the chance, he would LOVE to tell you about the two years he spent in Italy. Mary has traveled through east Africa and misses it dearly. Last year, we both got to travel to Costa Rica together, and it was one of the most beautiful places either of us had ever seen. These days, farming keeps us pretty busy, but in our spare time, Wes loves to go listen to all of the awesome live music that Memphis has to offer. Mary loves to have potlucks with her friends. They have also been known to watch a good episode of the Colbert Report or Battlestar Gallactica over a glass of wine. We absolutely love our city, and we hope we get to help make your stay in Memphis incredible!
