Sandy (email hidden)! Her place is very clean and quiet, and she made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable. She had a few days off from work and I loved the chance to talk with her about food, economics, philosophy, whatever came to mind.Of course she also gave me some great advice on things I could do around the city. It was great fun and she is truly an energetic, compassionate, and intelligent person.
She showed me around the neighborhood and took time to point out landmarks to ensure I didn't get lost. We went to the grocery store and she introduced me to several new Vietnamese vegetables, and even showed me how to cook them. (I had no idea lotus seeds were so delicious!!)
Her house is down one of Ho Chi Minh City's many small, twisting alleyways filled with zipping motorbikes, children playing, adults hanging out with their neighbors, always ready to give a friendly smile and wave in the correct direction in case you forgot which street you came from...they remember! It is a unique side of the city I would not have been able to find wandering between hotels and tourist sights, and I felt welcomed by the whole neighborhood.
I highly recommend Sandy to anyone wishing (email hidden) with an authentic local experience, at a great price! Hopefully I will be able to visit again very soon! It just doesn't get any better than this!
