This spacious, centrally located Manhattan duplex with garden is calm, near all public transportation, and a terrific base from which to explore and enjoy all of New York's shopping, museums, theater, and sights from Lady Liberty to Yankee Stadium
We're running a special next weekend, February 22-24: $500 for the weekend.
This spacious, elegant 2BR duplex with garden in Gramercy/Union Square is ideally located for NYC visiting and touring.
The large master bedroom with king bed and 40" flat-screen TV and ensuite master bath gives onto the garden. A second smaller bedroom next to the master, with an attached study, has a full-size futon bed, also with a view on the garden. Strong wi-fi network throughout the apartment.
You will enjoy the elegant living room with 11-foot ceilings, tasteful furnishings (and a pull out sleeper couch), 42" TV; large dining room, and light-filled cook's kitchen and breakfast nook.
The owners can also negotiate "country house" privileges in a second home 60 miles north of New York City in Hopewell Junction near Fahnestock State Park, for skiing, gardening and hiking. Located on the Appalachian trail the 1759 house is newly renovated. For a family or couple coming to the US, this urban/rural combination could be superb.
The housekeeper stays in the front bedroom with a private bath for herself, and has her own private entrance, and does not use the rest of the house.
Guests will have access to the main floor exclusively (with powder room), and two bedrooms, a study, and the garden downstairs. Extra guests will share a downstairs bath with the housekeeper, who is rarely in the house, and who they will likely not see. Owners will be off-site during your stay.
We can always be reached by cellphone or email, but we do not disturb our guests during their stay.
The neighborhood is remarkable mainly because of its proximity to Union Square, excellent public transportation, and the East River Greenway. We're one express subway stop from Chinatown, two from Times Square, and a 10 minute walk from the best Greenmarket on the East Coast.
Dining options range from the high-end MIchelin-starred restaurants to funky ethnic Village and Lower East Side places--all within a 15-minute walk.
Union Square is a subway hub; buses go up and down Third Avenue, and down 2nd Avenue. Cabs are everywhere.
This is an unusually spacious, well-located, and calm apartment for downtown Manhattan.

Donna & Warren's home is truly a gem! I rented their home for a small documentary film shoot and they were the most accommodating hosts. I was marveled by their beautiful home, the warmth of character, and spacious rooms. My crew didn't want to leave at the end of our stay :)
Kelly, the delightful housekeeper, was incredibly sweet and helpful, made checking into the apartment as easy as possible.
The location, just a 1/2 block from Union Square is ideal, so many great restaurants, things to do, and accessible to every mode of transportation.
Thank you, Donna, Warren & Kelly for an amazing experience!!
Oh my gosh! We had a wonderful stay! Donna, Warren & Kelly are delightful. The house is just lovely and on-street parking was just fab! The location was perfect. Thanks for making our trip to the city so memorable! We can't wait to visit NYC again!
My trip to New York was wonderful and the house of Donna Schaper is one of the reason.
The house is comfortable and spacious, we didn’t be able to use the garden (a lot of snow during the trip) but if we did, It would have been amazing.
Thanks to share this cosy place with us.
We loved the place, felt like home, souvenirs of travel around the world and a kitchen that was begging to be used. Plenty of space, cosy living room, masterly dining table, big king size bed and convenient bathrooms. Lots and lots of books and huge TV if you decide to stay in, but who would in NYC... The apartment is in a nice and safe neighborhood, little cafés and restaurants close by, Union Square a couple block away. And the price was right!
Everything was great at donna and warren ´s place. The house is really nice, clean and well-furnished. Although it is very central it is very quiet at night and safe. I would highly recommend this address.
Our stay (myself and my family 5 people) was very pleasant in the house of Donna and Warren. The house is very well furnished, clean and comfortable and is in a central location in Manhattan but in a quiet street. Often you could hear the sirens of ambulances, due to the vicinity of two hospitals, but this does not disturb your sleep because the bedrooms are downstairs and at the rear of the house. The metro station is very close, but on foot you can reach bars and restaurants in a few minutes. The house keeper, Kelly, is very nice and discreet. If I come back to NY I would go back in the house of Donna and Warren!
Gorgeous place, especially the kitchen, dining room, living room,
backyard. Main bedroom is luxurious; second is reasonable - both bathrooms are
excellent. Donna was very easy to work with.
The experience at Donna and Warren's appartment couldn't have been better! The location is great, the apartment is huge with a lovely garden, and there were even bicycles to use which was great for a sunday ride to the high line and battery park. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if you are travelling with children as there was plently of space for my husband and our two kids. I would come again and can't wait until we'll be back.
This is in a brilliant location, central but also safe and quiet. If you don't know NYC, Union Square is an ideal stop to be just a short walk from.
The house is huge: not just spacious "for New York", but actually huge. The kitchen alone is bigger than some NYC apartments I've seen! The main bedroom with en suite is massive. The second bedroom is a lot smaller, located in a passageway type of room without any windows and very little floor space for luggage, etc, but it's perfectly comfortable for one unfussy person. The third optional bed is a single, located in a cramped study. We didn't need the third bed but it seems this wouldn't be an ideal sleeping location, as the room can't be blacked-out and you'd be sleeping right up against the air-con unit. Obviously the hosts realise this, as the place is listed as a 2bdm - the third bed is just a bonus.
We found the house to be really clean and comfortable, and had no complaints. Our hosts and the housekeeper were great at communication, getting the keys was very straightforward, and we barely saw the housekeeper during our stay, except when she was being helpful!
We would definitely stay here again.
This is a beautiful, well-located, well-appointed home in the middle of Manhattan. My family of 4 needed a place to stay for the weekend and for the extended family to relax between a morning religious ceremony and party at night. A 15-minute cab ride to the upper West Side and a 15-minute walk to the party on Madison Square, this was the perfect place for us. The garden was especially pleasant for sipping wine in the evening and lemonade in the afternoon.
