Interaction with Guests
I am available to respond to your inquiries typically immediately so please feel free to reach out to me as needed.
Other Things to Note
At times we have a shortage of water supply, however, I have a pila on the roof containing most of the water you need. I also provide bottled water for drinking and cooking and making coffee rather than using the water from the pipes in the house. We also ask that you refrain from flushing toilet paper down the toilet. You will find this a common practice at all the establishments you go to as well. In MX we need to conserve our water and respect the pipes.
Welcome to Casa Paraiso Del Mar- where all we ask is that you treat our home as if it were your own - my caretakers will provide all the information you need once you arrive to make your stay most enjoyable.

Location, location, location! Just steps from the water and white sand beaches. We loved the giant patio and spent almost our entire time relaxing and enjoying it. We fished, snorkeled and swam right out front. The caretaker was very welcoming and helped make us feel right at home.
The perfect example of a cool little beach house. The casa was everything we expected. Dwnell and his help who looks after his place was very friendly and helpful. A picture perfect piece of paradise. It was everything we expected. A neat little house with cute architecture and a veranda that is really the highlight of the property. The location is awesome. Very quiet with a picture perfect beach literally a few steps down the stairs. I caught fish right in front of the casa on my lightweight outfit and experienced really good snorkeling just south of the casa where the rocks jut out. If you are looking for a relaxing little casa in a quant little town with a picture perfect location, this is the place for you.
I just spent six of the most relaxing days of my life parked on a chaise lounge on Dwnell’s lovely beach house veranda. From initial contact to the moment I had to (sadly) leave, both Dwnell and her house caretaker, Ulises, were thoroughly communicative and responsive. I did not rent a car for my trip but had arranged through Dwnell to have Ulises’ taxi service pick me up at the airport. He was kind enough to stop on the way back to her house at the large grocery store in San Jose, as well as take me into Los Barriles another couple of times during my stay — he is a gem. The house itself is as advertised: two bedrooms both with comfortable beds and a/c, well-appointed kitchen (note: there is no oven, which I didn’t need and can’t imagine wanting to use in the Mexican heat), two bathrooms, etc. I really could not have picked a better spot to just completely chill out and disconnect than Dwnell’s lovely little beach cottage.
Absolutely fantastic experience. This house could not be better situated for a lovely, relaxing vacation. My wife and I spent many an hour on the front deck soaking in sun, reading, and generally having a great time. The bbq and kitchen were great, all cookware and items excellent, shower, beds.. really, everything was just great!
Dnwell was super easy to work with, and the caretaker Ulisses was charming and responsive - even connected us with his brother who organized a fishing expedition for us!
Highly recommend checking out Pulmo Cabo, the national park nearby, and doing the snorkeling tour. Unreal. Also, whatever your preconceptions (we had plenty), renting an ATV in Los Barriles is a great idea (we did from Quadman). Take it up the arroyos (dry river beds) for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, basically alone in stunning landscapes and secret desert nooks.
Barriles is a nice little town too, with supermarket, a few good food joints, and a bank, as well as activities like kitesurfing, fishing, ATV rentals, etc.
All in all, Paraiso Del Mar was as lovely a vacation home as anyone could ever expect, if getting away from it all and truly relaxing is the thing you seek. Don't think about it more, just book.
Dwnell gave us lots on info in advance about the things to do and places to go in the area. She was very helpful. She also had a local person to open up the house and help us get settled in. He checked back with us a couple of times to make sure everything was OK.
The pictures do not do this location justice. It's all it seems to be and much, much more. Great location on the beach... we were still pinching ourselves a week later because we couldn't believe how lovely the location was.
We loved the huge palapa on the patio and spent most of our time out there, if not in the warm water. There were not only bath towels, but beach towels there for us to use! We enjoyed having the outdoor bathroom and shower, the BBQ, and the truly comfortable chaise lounges. When we wanted to retreat inside, the A/C was wonderful. The beds were comfortable as well.
We found great snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo and Punta Pescadero. My hubby plans to book another trip at this very location again!
Dwnell was communicative from when we first booked and the place was simply amazing. It's exactly as advertised. It was clean, beds comfortable, amazing patio steps from the ocean. Ulisses is a great caretaker and gets you anything you need, the neighbors were friendly. The only thing I can think to mention is plan your trip around the big holidays as our last three days were filled with kids on ATVs racing around the beach steps from the patio, annoying---but kids will be kids and it has nothing to do with the actual place or hosts which we will definitely try and come back to. Thanks Dwnell for the great vacation!
Dwnell's place is fantastic. Right on the beach! 45 minutes from pulmo marine sanctuary where we snorkeled with whales! Great food in Los barilles. Star gazing. Plenty of room for our family of 4. Well appointed kitchen. Killer patio with sun bathing chairs and Palm shaded dining. Parking for the rental car 10 feet from the front door. Very quiet. Two bathrooms! One indoors and one out for easy beach access and rinsing off. Relaxed, casual, comfortable feel. When we arrived we couldn't believe we were going to get to stay here. And dwnell was a very responsive host. Ulysses, who tend the property in her absence was very friendly and offered lots of recommendations for exploring. Off the beaten path this was a perfect place for us.
About the Host, Dwnell
I am still working full time as a project manager for a financial planned giving services firm in the bay area. This is my future retirement destination, but until then, to help supplement my income, I have decided to share a little corner of paradise and rent out my beach house in Spa Buena Vista. I have owned this home for 15 years now. It is cozy, comfortable and in one of the greatest locations if you are into fishing and relaxing at the beach enjoying the soft sea breeze of the Sea of Cortez. There is golfing available nearby as well. I LOVE to fish, golf, and relax with a good book in the sun. I enjoy cooking all types of food and spending time with friends and family. I love anything Italian (music, food, and I am learning the language for a future visit to Italy)...I have started my own boutique vineyard in San Jose, CA with my own Testa Family Crest as the label called TESTA VINEYARDS... It will take a couple more years before I can make my own blend with Cab, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. It is a new passion which I just began in February 2013. Please contact me with any questions on the property and I will be more than happy to assist you.
