We are flexible and will try to accommodate special needs, including a HONEY MOON vacation package. My wife and sister in law are great cooks and can provide home cooked, farm fresh, organic meals for reasonable cost. Tico style cuisine.

The guest have unlimited access to the 50 acres of private space to explore and enjoy. Kids especially will run wild on the ranch and never get bored. Many farm animals including cows, sheep, chicken, ducks, pigs and horses. We offer horseback rides/lessons - pleasure mount or trail rides for small cost ($25). The stars of the animal show are now 3 PARROTs after which we named the place (meet Papuga Papagai, and ToTi). We rescued them from fallen nest and have raised them since chicks. 'Born free live free' they fly around and will entertain you for hours. recently an abused baby toucan was brought in and Teddy is doing fine at this time.
U can volunteer to help with daily farm chores or join us in trail building .Take the time to hike the private trails to secluded rivers and waterfalls.
The wonderful sights and sounds of nature will enchant you and warm the soul. It's really peaceful and quite, cool year round and always green. Forever springtime here. The elevation is 800 mts(approx. 2650 ft ) which means temps are low and views are high.

Guest access

Full access to ranch and all facilities (some restrictions apply) Close by are zip lines, hanging bridges, and Arenal Volcano Observatory. Popular activities are: Hot springs (ask about free hot river) hiking trails and horseback riding, fishing lake , living Butterfly Conservatory and Eco- zoo in the village. A new action tour just starting is ' river drifting' and is a lot of fun. Several nice restaurants and sodas , a small grocery store and two places of worship in our village of El Castillo.

Although there is the river and waterfall on the property we do not have a real swimming pool. So, we negotiated complimentary pool privileges at a 4 star Hotel close by for our special Guests. It is 5 min away by car or mellow 15 min walk from the house. They have free wifi ,cold and hot pools, bar and restaurant. Enjoy.

Interaction with guests

We live in the original ranch house on the property so the Guest house and surrounding gardens are dedicated to you. The family and I interact when appropriate/ needed and consider it a privilege to be of service. We are available especially if guest want help setting up activities such as tours, home cooked farm meals to order and recreation/entertainment. Our hosting service style goes beyond a simple rental management into caring for the needs and comfort of our guest. Our mutual goal is to make this vacation ,your vacation, the best ever!!
Otherwise it's a private set up at the house and independent living in quiet enjoyment.
Thank you for looking us over and we hope you choose to spend some time on Parrot Hill. Looking forward to it.
Hasta Luego and Pura Vida,
charlie

What an adorable place! this was our favorite of our whole trip, even more than the beach resort. The whole family agreed to that, wife and kids too! We did the horseback ride to the falls and that was amazing. A word of warning though, make sure that you take good hiking boots, the soil is very slippery and it is a very challenging hike and you really need to be reasonably fit there are many areas where you are stepping up at least 2.5 -3 feet to the next foot hold. The guides are amazing and will help you if needed. Also, bring water! Eduardo is a very nice and helpful host. The second floor has an amazing balcony with perhaps my favorite ever view, just like the photo's show- the lake, the volcano. Having a beverage on the patio admiring the view and listening to the sounds of the rain forest was so very peaceful. We would stay there again for sure.

The house was great and the view was beautiful. We definitely got to experience authentic Costa Rican lifestyle. It was also the first time I had ever been woken up by Howler Monkeys.

This beautiful place will not disappoint. We spent most of our time on the patio enjoying the scenic view of Arenal and Lake Arenal. There were birds and monkeys as well as lots of farm animals. The kids were in heaven. Eduardo and family were very warm and accomodating. Wish we allowed more time to stay. There's so much to see and do in this area...close to everything in the Arenal region.

You won't find a more beautiful view. If you're looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience this is the place to stay. It's a little on the rustic side but if you want to see the wildlife and don't mind not having a/c you should stay here. We saw howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, fireflys, iguanas and so many other birds everyday. You have a perfect view of Arenal volcano and lake. We sat on the porch every evening during the thunderstorms and it was just a magical experience. I highly recommend you have a four wheel drive because the drive up is very rough. And my only other caution is in the upstairs main house there are no screens on the windows so you either have bugs or you're hot. But we still loved our time here. And we loved Bobby the chihuahua. The most fierce and lovable pup. He followed us everywhere and we wanted to bring him home with us.

We stayed 4 nights in April there, family of four. Beautiful clean house shows character and has a comfortable feel to it. This especially great place for animal lovers who will get much love from gots, cats, parrots etc. Breathtaking views from a second floor terrace will have you not wanting to leave the comfortable area. For sure recommended stay at this wonderful location. Don't miss monkey trail in the jungles in the early morning. Dream to come back again and stay longer next time.

If you want the most incredible view in all of Arenal and an authentic stay at a farm this is the place for you. Located at the very top of the gravel road from Castillo affording the most amazing views possible is Parrot Hill Ranch. Eduardo is delightful and his family is very welcoming. Must rent the top larger room however. It is incredible with the view! Has a large deck to watch the sunset and is lovely. We were in the room below which was a converted basement/workroom and it was rustic and did not have much light. As soon as the guests arrived above us it was impossible to sleep as the floor is too thin and we could hear every noise. Would not recommend staying in bottom unit. Lovely family and an incredible experience despite the room. Next time we will book the top floor room! It is amazing!!!

What an amazing home. Situated outside the town of Fortuna, instructions given by Eddie and the help of a GPS made getting to this home a breeze. From the moment of entry, Eddie made our group feel comfortable and at ease. This home is one of the rare finds of Air BnB in the sense that the host lives on the compound - this makes communication throughout the stay very easy and adds a personal touch not found at MOST homes. The wrap around balcony with panoramic views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal was a sensory over-load. It was so nice waking up with not a plan on the itinerary while sipping on a cup of coffee and listening to the natural sounds of Mother Nature at work. The hike to the on-premise waterfall is a MUST DO. Tabacon hot springs is within 30 minutes and if you are on your way to Monteverde afterward, there is a road "Rio Negro" via use of a 4x4 that cuts the time to get there by about 2 hours. Something that you must do while staying here: shut off all the lights, stand out on the wraparound porch, and stare into the night sky. IT. IS. UNREAL. That compounded with the fireflies makes this ranch something out of a storybook. Thanks again Eddie, i hope to return again someday.
