Awesome Reinvented Blacksmith Shop

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Eldorado Springs Drive, Boulder, CO 80303, United States

The Space

Located in the historic Eldorado Springs Valley is our authentic 19th century blacksmith shop, aka "Home on the Front Range." We have remodeled it into a unique getaway. Just minutes south of Boulder, you will find gorgeous views and nature surrounding you, from horses in the pasture next door to the local wildlife, such as deer, fox, and owl.

This special place has its own unique character and all the comforts of home. It is private, spacious (675 sq. ft.) and very quiet at night. You can see the stars.

The bedroom has a picture window with a stunning view, queen pillow top bed, and a beautiful sliding barn door. The entire place is new construction and I continue to add and embellish with art and color. The futon couch unfolds into a bed for an extra person or small children. There are two living room areas, a skylight, kitchen, TV and DVD player, internet access, and a small patio area and parking right in front. The natural light inside is beautiful.

A fantastic trail system is just minutes away. Enjoy hiking, running, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, depending on the season. Two miles down the road from here is Eldorado Canyon, which features Eldorado State Park where hiking, world class rock climbing and scenic vistas happen. Also located in the canyon is the Eldorado Springs Pool, a wonderful artesian spring fed pool, so refreshing and fun in the summertime. Downtown Boulder seems a world away, although it is actually a 5-10 minute drive. There are bike paths all the way into town.

We are both artists and our home and studio are on the property. Feel free to come by the house anytime during your stay to chat and visit. We know a lot about the area and can help with ideas about things to do. We'd love to have you as our guests!

  • Loved staying at Susan's place, we're just sorry it was only for one night! It was plenty warm when we arrived, and it provided much more space than we expected. The pictures really didn't do it justice, very quaint and cozy place. Thanks Susan!

I am a self employed artist and have lived in this area since 1991, with my husband, Tom, who is a ceramic artist, teacher, and a musician. We raised our two sons here. I have done a lot of traveling and enjoy meeting people from all over. One of the most memorable experiences of my life was when I lived in Italy for close to a year while I was in college in the early '70's. Part of the time I lived with an Italian family in Tuscany whom I adored. I hope to return there someday. I enjoy being active in the outdoors and at the gym, cooking fun and healthy foods, growing a vegetables and herbs, and many other pursuits. I love to read all kinds of books, including novels, non-fiction and cookbooks. One of my favorite books is The Infinite Plan, by Isabel Allende. We have had visits in our home with many guests from all over through the years, and it has been good times. I have learned to be open to having adventures and being spontaneous. Some of my most memorable times have not involved much planning or expense.
