On our arrival, Becky seemed understandably upset, since we told her we will be arriving by 6 PM, and we ended up reaching only by 7.30. We did send her 3 text messages at 4:50 PM to let her know that we were delayed, but she said she didn't receive them for some reason, and insisted that we should have rather called. This led to an unpleasant (although civil) first interaction; many people prefer texts, and we didn't read anywhere on the listing that calling was her preferred way of communication. Regardless, we could have called her as well, so our fault, perhaps.
Becky promptly asked us about our outdoor plans and pulled a map to give us a few tips, much appreciated. She was courteous over the next two days as well, and asked us how we were doing when we saw her.
There were a couple other things; too trivial to mention but a minor bother, in general I felt that the multi-day camping experience will be greatly improved if there were a few post-it notes on how to keep things a certain way (bathroom door, for example, Becky preferred them left open; no big deal but would just help to have a small note on the door since we didn't want to leave it open given the proximity to the kitchen).
Overall, we had a good time at Becky's. The campsite is in her backyard, and the tent is visible from the road in front of her house, although it seemed like that would bother us, it didn't since the traffic was minimal at night. The campsite includes toilet inside Becky's well kept house, and an outdoor shower (which her son installed the next day after we arrived, so I'm not sure what the arrangement was before that). The outdoor shower had only cold water supply, which did bother us since the water was very cold. There is a great little beach close to Becky's property on Saco river, which will make a great place for family hangouts. There are restaurants and market places (Walmart, coffee etc) within 3 miles radius of Becky's property, so it's conveniently located. Keep in mind though, that there is no campground style picnic table, and that you will need to bring your own portable grill (again, not a big deal, but since she listed 'Kitchen' in the camping amenity, I thought this could have been cleared up). Additionally, there is one fire pit for all campers to share.
During our stay, there were a total of three other tents, a couple of them really close to us; so her backyard can feel a little crowded with multiple tents, and only one toilet.
Becky is great! We had a lovely time camping at her house. We had to change our arrival time a few times and she was totally understanding. Later that night we got to meet her, her son, and a few other people who were camping as well. He was very hospitable and kind. The only thing we didn't expect is that 4 other tents were in her yard as well. We had plenty of room but voices carried especially in the morning. Not the best place for kids.
Becky was very accommodating, good communication through the process and the location was central yet private. Quaint home I'd be glad to stay again when in the area.
We didn't stay this time because of traffic delay. But Becky has nice communication and we will try next time. Thanks!
Becky's place is wonderful! We planned a very last minute trip up to NH, and the only problem with our experience was that we really wished we could have stayed longer :) Becky was very quick communicating with us when we were booking, she was flexible with when we arrived, and the lawn and yard was a beautiful place to camp. In the evening, she had a bonfire, and we had the chance to meet other members of her family, as well as friends and other guests - a perfect airbnb experience! We will definitely be back, and next time for more than just one night! Thanks very much, Becky!
Becky was very attentive and immediately responded to any message I sent her. She seemed very sweet. Unfortunately our car broke down half way there so we never made it all the way up. Although I am hoping for one, I am not sure I will be refunded. She did say to contact her and she would take care of us so heres hoping.
EN : Becky is adorable. Her place is well located and there was a lot a space to pop-up our tent. She gave us recommendations that help us with our exploration :) FR : Becky est très gentille. Sa place est bien située, près de la route, tout en étant tranquille! Il y avait en masse de place pour notre tente et plusieurs autres encore. Ses recommandations nous ont aussi aider à explorer la ville :)
