This cosy appartment is ideally located right i/t center of the famous 'Eilandje' next to the newest museums MAS and Red Star Line, with the most gorgeous view imaginable on the river and the charming industrial cranes. Light, quiet, and inspiring!
The apartment is designed in an eclectic way with bohemian, vintage and art influences. Big windows all over the flat make the space light and bright, warm cosy elements bring comfort and warmth.
Everything you need to make this an unforgettable holiday is here: a big sleeping room with very soft kingsize bed, and facilities to hang or iron your clothes. The practical bathroom with rain shower, toilet and washing table provides clean soft towels. The living room has tv for dvd watching, with a fine film, book and vinyl collection you are welcome to consult, stereo, radio, sleeping couch (best for children, side sleepers or smaller persons), hammock, desk and brings you to the bright kitchen which offers everything your heart desires to cook a delicious meal, and a washing machine. Coffee and herbal teas are at your disposal.
The living room and kitchen are both offering the greatest view on Antwerp: the turning of the river the Schelde, with all its different kinds of light, and the harbour, which shows a beautiful play of small lights at night.
Outside you find the Schelde for the best walks and sunsets, coffee bars with wifi, restaurants, arts and culture, a bakery, a supermarket,.. all in 5 minutes reach.
Step outside and go left for the city walk next to the water, and right for an amazing view on the city from the turning of the river. You might bump in to some people simply enjoying the view with a glass of cava, having an outside bbq with the family, or playing with a wind kite.
There is a good connection to other neighbourhoods with bike/bus/trams or 10 minute walk.
As there is no elevator, you reach the apartment after a good climb on the stairs (3 high), and then get overwhelmed with the view over the river and harbour from up there!
The entire apartment is a tribute to Matisse's famous title "Luxe, calme and volupté", as a motto for a witty lifestyle that celebrates the joy to take the time to be oh-so-well at home.
All rooms are accesible and private: hallway, living room, sleeping room, bathroom, kitchen.
In fact, the 'Greatest View' apartment is my private space that I sub-rent when I travel, reason why it really gives you this "homy" feeling.
I want you to have a wonderful time while you are staying at my place and therefore, I leave an extensive note with local tips and addresses, knowing that you can also always ask me for recommendations by email.
Neighbourhood 'Het Eilandje':
The mix of harbour/docks/marina/cultural/artistic/culinary life make this the most vibrant and diverse neighbourhoud of Antwerp at the moment.
Here are my personal tips for your inspiration (only visible when booked apparently).

Lisboa: Great Portuguese food in nice atmosphere - Amsterdamstraat 21 (around the corner)
De Burgerij: burger resto - Sint-Laureiskaai 8 (good with kids)
Another plus is parking: there is always a lot of parking places in the street or in the big open air parking lot right next to the street (entrance at letters 'HANGAR27'), both in front of the house ànd for free!
Excellent for a couple, extremely comfy (and cheaper!) alone, suitable until 4 people.
This month there are works in the street. You cannot park your car in the street itself, but in the streets behind, also for free. In the week time the works give noise during the day (until about 4pm).
Check in is after 4pm. Check out before 11am. (An exception can always be considered.)
Your times of arrival and check out are communicated at least 1 day before your arrival.
Luggage can always stay in the apartment until later.
Entrance of the house: glass door between 2 doors of lunch bar downstairs.
Please leave your shoes in the hallway, this way the carpet and yourself stay clean!
Dishes are for you, as this is not a hotel ;)
Een mooi en ruim appartement, erg sfeervol! De locatie was ideaal, gratis parkeren en binnen 10 minuutjes (lopen) in het centrum. Ik zal dit appartement zeker aanbevelen!
Nice apartment which had plenty of space for us and our 7 year old daughter. It's fairly close to the city and very close to the MAS museum and some nice bars and restaurants. It's also very close to a bus stop which takes you right to the train station. It's not on a square and is on a road but looks out over the river which is nice. The only thing I want to say to others is that it is at the top of lots of stairs with no lift and the railings have giant gaps - quite scary for small children which I wouldn't recommend taking there. Our daughter was ok but it still made us a bit nervous being on the stairs with her! Overall though a nice place to stay, we enjoyed it and the bed was very comfy too! Martha, Dominic & Amelie, UK
My friends and I stayed for 2 days at Maaike's apartment when we visited the city Antwerp. We had a pleasant stay, and enjoyed the cool upcoming neighborhood. Maaike is a perfect host, and her apartment is very cozy, with a lovely view as well. Thanks for having us Maaike!
Maïke's apartment is nice and cosy with a beautiful view on the harbour of Antwerp. It's situated on the top floor (the 4th floor I believe) of the building, so you'll have to climb some stairs, it's important to be aware of that. There are enough parking possibilities in the neighbourhood and the city center is nearby.
The communication with the host is perfect, she's a friendly and very flexible person, she has made it really easy for me. I would certainly recommend to stay in this place.
My girlfriend were very happy to (email hidden) appartment. Thanks to the great view and the relaxing atmosphere, it turned our 1,5 day-trip into a real holiday!
