Herons is a beautiful detached lodge situated on the banks of the River Thames. The interior is stylishly designed and the views are simply wonderful from sunrise to sunset. Herons is idyllic and is the perfect place to unwind and relax. It is ideally located for exploring the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside, as well as the Thames Market towns of Wallingford, Henley and Abingdon The historic and cultural city of Oxford is only 8 miles away and Bicester Village is a 30 minute drive.

The space
Herons is located on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Dorchester-on-Thames in South Oxfordshire. Herons was built in 2016 and is totally self contained comprising a bedroom with double bed and fitted wardrobes, an open plan sitting room and kitchenette.
The bathroom includes a shower, heated towel rail and large mirror. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, oven, 2 ring hob and fridge. High quality White Company cotton bed linen and towels are provided along with bathroom toiletries. Hairdryer, TV, wifi and a Pure radio with bluetooth. Well designed main and accent lighting. Underfloor heating throughout.
There is a decking area with a bistro table and chairs to sit and enjoy the incredible views. There is also a secluded area to the side of the lodge with a luxury cocoon bed to lie on and enjoy the views and amazing sunsets we are lucky to witness. We are in a very private, secluded position and it is a very tranquil place to sit and watch the river boats, waterbirds and wildlife. The Thames Path, one of England's most famous national trails is on the other bank of the river.

Guest access
Herons B&B is completely self contained so guests have access to all the facilities in the property. It has its own private outside area with a seating . Parking is alongside the gym nearest the lodge but there is ample parking area on our gravel courtyard if there is more than one car.

Other things to note
Access to the property is via electric gates. I am usually there to greet you but if I am not able to be here to check you in I will leave the gates open. I will send you the code for the lock box prior to your stay.
During your stay you will be given a fob to operate the electric gates. They need to be kept closed because my Jack Russell, Loulou, will go wandering.
I provide breakfast including juice, bread, local eggs, cereal, jam and marmalade.
Please recycle using the bin located behind the lodge which I will empty on a regular basis. There is no smoking in the lodge, no parties and no pets.

Location

Dorchester, England, United Kingdom

Sarah's home is located on the outskirts of the stunning village of Dorchester on Thames in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Dorchester is famous for its Abbey which was originally founded in 635 AD and for it's picturesque houses and streets. It is used for filming Midsomer Murders and Agatha Christies Poirot and attracts tourists from around the world. It is a 15 minute walk into the village and it is also very easy to park in the centre of the village.
We look across the meadows to the Wittenham Clumps, a famous local landmark. The local market town of Wallingford prides itself on it's variety of independent shops and bars/restaurants. We also have two other riverside towns, Abingdon and Henley on Thames, famous for its regatta.
Our garden runs down to the River Thames. The Thames Path one of our most popular national trails can be easily accessed from Dorchester or Clifton Hampden. It is also possible to hire a range of boats/kayaks/canoes from Benson Marina. The Ridgeway, another national trail is nearby and is also wonderful for walkers. Guides for both trails are kept in the lodge.
There are many lovely country pubs which are listed on my guide and on the printed list kept in the lodge.
Oxford, the oldest English speaking university in the world, is only 8 miles. Tour the various colleges, museums, botanical gardens and you cannot visit Oxford without having a go at punting. The Bear, Oxford's oldest pub oozes character.
Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage site and Britain's greatest palace is only half an hour away.
Bicester Village is a luxury shopping destination home to more than 160 world famous brands with huge savings on price all year round. It is a 30 minute drive.
