Our houseboat is situated in the heart of central historical Amsterdam. The Nieuwe Prinsengracht is a side canal of the Amstel, which is the main canal, and is off the beaten track of the big tourist canal cruise boats. This makes this area very suitable for a quiet stay, although you are in de centre of Amsterdam .
Whenever we have to stay at our boat in Amsterdam we always enjoy the peace and quite of living on the water. It always fees like a holiday whenever we are here! Swans and other birds pass our boat and come to see if there is some bread left for them and on summer days you can see people enjoying a day on the water on their own boats cruising the canals.
Our houseboat is approximately 42m2 and everything you need is there. There is a modern kitchen with microwave, oven, dishwasher and stove. A washing machine and dryer are there for you to use. The living room has a table with chairs, a large and very comfortable couch and cable TV and WIFI internet are available. In the bathroom you will find a large bath with shower, wash basin and toilet. The bedroom has a closet and more room to hang your belongings and a large twin bed. The length of the beds is 220 cm so also tall people should be comfortable here!
The houseboat lies a short walk from the metro station which takes you to the Central Station of Amsterdam in 2 stops (5 minutes). Trains from Amsterdam Central Station to Schiphol Airport bring you every 10 minutes within 20 minutes to the airport (very convenient so don't bother the hassle of an expensive Amsterdam taxi).
Also the Hermitage museum the Rijksmuseum and the world famous van Goghmuseum are in the vicinity. For those who love to shop and enjoy nice cafes and restaurants, you can all find this in our neighborhood. We've also put some information in our houseboat with some tips, to get you started...
And of course it will be nice for you to know that our houseboat was completely renovated in 2011.
Last but not least we will also provide you with a complimentary breakfast for your first morning in Amsterdam!

Staying on the houseboat was so awesome! It was modern, clean, comfortable, and located only a short walk from almost everything!
very nice contact, good communication, helpfull, good location, quiet. everything as agreed. we liked it very much.
anytime again! highly recommendable!
We had a terrific time at Simon & Jolanda's houseboat. Besides being extremely well-located in the center of the city, we were welcome by Simon who gave us very good tips on what to do around the city. The boat was clean, comfortable and gave us the sense of being at home in such a beautiful setting.
Hihghly recommended. We had a very pleaseant stay on Simon and Jolanda's boat. Beautyfully located in a quiet but very central area, the boat offered everything we were looking for. Although it was cold and snowy outside, the boat was totally comfy and warm. Simon and Jolanda were great hosts, helpfull and responsive.
Simon and Jolanda's cosy houseboat on one of the quieter canals is a perfect way to spend a few days in Amsterdam. The photos on their listing give an accurate depiction of the property but what you don't pick up is just how special it is to be staying on the water. But the boat doesn't move or bob about at all if you might be concerned about any seasickness!
Simon and Jolanda are very accommodating (even dropping over extra pillows and some tummy stuff for us after we picked up a nasty bug on the plane). Great hosts and we were so happy with our stay which happened to be our very first Airbnb experience.
Highly recommend taking up the bike hire option which comes with the property - the very comfortable bikes are such a great way to see the city and you don't have to worry about returning the bikes on the last day to some bike rental place somewhere else.
Everything went like clockwork for us. Would definitely book in again on our next visit to Amsterdam. Forget hotels!
Simon and Jolanda's houseboat was perfect. It is the perfect setting to get lost in Amsterdam (in a good way!) Simon and Jolanda went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we wanted it to be - from writing out good restaurants nearby to making an early morning trip to give us a key when we locked ourselves out. They were gracious hosts and I know our trip wouldn't have been the same without them.
I highly recommend this houseboat and I know that we will be back to visit sometime in the future.
Simon and Jolanda were the superb hosts. The houseboat is really charming and looks exactly like it does in the photos on Airbnb. The communication was great from start to finish. We experienced a warm greeting at the airport (they provide this service for far less than a taxi) and an offer to contact them for anything we needed. The location of houseboat was perfect! It is located in the heart of everything, but, also situated on the quieter side of the River Amstel. We were able to avoid the late night revelers (in their boats) on the canal because they tend to stay on the other side of the river. We met friends from Sweden while in Amsterdam. The four of us were not interested in taking a cruise on a commercial tour boat packed with people. Simon agreed to take us on a cruise in his personal boat for a very reasonable fee. The architecture looks even more amazing from the water. We went southward down the River Amstel on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It was a very inviting experience! We were amazed to see the beautiful farmland, livestock, windmills, just a short distance from the city. Upon departure, Simon took us to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight. We recommend Simon, Jolanda, and their houseboat to all--including our friends and family. We hope to meet up with them again in Amsterdam and they are welcome at our home in St. Louis anytime.
My husband and I are in the travel industry, and we spend a couple months each summer in Europe. Amsterdam is always included on the itinerary since we have lived there previously and love the city. The houseboat was by far one of the nicest places we've ever stayed in Amsterdam. It was so nice to have our own space on the canal- a true Amsterdam experience. We quickly made friends with the coots and ducks (perhaps the bread helped) and it was fun to watch all the different types of boats go by. Its on a quieter canal so there isn't too much boat traffic. Jolanda and Simon were excellent hosts -making the three of us (we travel with our little dog) feel very welcome and at home. The houseboat has all the amenities you need. Highly Recommended!
Simon and Yolanda went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The best way to experience Amsterdam is by staying on a houseboat. There is always something of interest happening on the canal and it is very convenient to reach all the interesting areas of Amsterdam. We walked everywhere and ate locally, there is no end of choice. It is also nice to be able to buy your own food and cook at home occasionally without having to go out. Amsterdam is a wonderful city - as soon as you learn to look out for the bikes!
I spent a few months on Simon and Jolanda's houseboat. It's in the perfect location that allows you to walk or ride your bike to anywhere in Amsterdam. It's also next to the tram and metro, which shortens the daily commute.
The houseboat itself modern and very nice. It has everything you need to be at home in Amsterdam. It's on a quiet canal near the Amstel river. It is a really nice part of Amsterdam and close to Utrechtstraat and Nieuwemarkt where you will find great restaurants, cafes, and bars.
Simon and Jolanda provide exceptional service. They are very helpful in helping you plan your stay in the city, restaurant recommendations, and helped me to find a longer term apartment.
It really has been a great experience to stay on the houseboat and get to know Simon and Jolanda.
