The Space

GREAT LOCATION! WALK TO DOWNTOWN, ZILKER PARK and BARTON SPRINGS, LOTS OF RESTAURANTS and BARS. Great shopping nearby. Perfect for ACL, SXSW, Fun Fun Fun Fest, F1, the X Games, or business trips.

This studio rental is great for business or pleasure. We've got you covered. With a modern desk, comfortable chair and wifi, you're all set to work on a laptop or sit outside in the adirondack chairs with a cocktail, enjoying the beautiful hundred year old oak trees.

The location is extremely convenient to downtown and only a stroll away from Barton Springs.

This is a cute backyard studio rental with 365 square feet consisting of one main room, a full bathroom, and a sitting area in the yard. It is located on the property of a single family home in a hip, walkable and friendly neighborhood, very centrally located.

The frosted sliding glass door and skylights let in plenty of natural light, to this newly remodeled and clean studio. It is 1.5 miles to downtown Austin, 1.3 miles to Whole Foods Market, and .7 miles to the entrance of the Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park.

The main room of the studio includes a queen size pull out sofa bed, a mini refrigerator, a microwave, and coffee maker, a desk and a wardrobe for clothes and suitcases. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower, and a sink with storage below for personal belongings. All linens, pillows and towels are provided, along with fresh locally roasted coffee, water and a few drinks in the fridge.

There is free, wireless internet and a desk if you plan to work during your stay. The rental also comes with free, off street parking for one vehicle.

We can arrange to have breakfast tacos for you in the morning, or if you prefer to get out and explore some of the great restaurants in the area, we can provide you with a list of great places within walking distance. There's a great little market that's only a seven minute walk. They (email hidden) and wine selection, some pastries, wraps, fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, and a nice selection of quality food.

This is a new listing, so please let us know what we can do to make your stay comfortable. The studio is separate from the main residence and is not lived in by anyone.

We hope you enjoy yourself and have fun!

  • Mark and Laura's backyard studio is adorable and very comfortable. Their house is in an excellent location. We easily walked to several good restaurants and the bike rental shop. On bikes, it was only a few minutes to the Zilker Park greenbelt and to Barton Springs Pool.

Everything was clean and exactly what we were expecting from their posting and other reviews. I would definitely recommend Laura to anyone looking for a place to stay in Austin!

  • We had an awesome stay! The place is great and in an awesome location. Laura is a great host and provided us with breakfast as well! Our only reservation going in was that the bed was a pullout, but it was really comfortable and we slept great!

  • My stay was very comfortable—the studio was clean, quiet and in a great neighborhood. Laura and her family were very accommodating, friendly and very welcoming. The studio included healthy snacks and a lovely bottle of wine. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Laura and Mark own a fabulous contemporary home with a wonderful studio out back. I stayed for nine nights and they worked very hard to make me feel welcome and comfortable and that included supplying me with fresh fruit and breakfast fixings. The unit was clean, bright, comfortable and reasonably quiet, especially considering the proximity to downtown and Barton Springs Rd. The parking situation wasn't ideal, though that was only a challenge for a few days since most of the time I used a rented bicycle to get around. Having said that, street parking is legal and Laura and Mark were very accommodating by parking their cars out of the way most of the time. The location was only two miles from my business hotel (Courtyard by Marriott) so walking or biking into downtown was easy.

  • We loved staying with Laura and Mark! Their space is beautiful, new and immaculate with new hvac, recessed lighting, a beautiful serene backyard... They just designed and built the beautiful house and studio. It was such an oasis between shows and activities. They were there to attend our every need- brought breakfast tacos and Greek yogurt and local coffee and beer.

We rented bikes from Barton Springs Bike Rentals and biked everywhere. It was super easy to bike anywhere we wanted. They do have parking if you're driving. We walked to Uchi, Henri's, Barleyswine and the AGBG. They had loads of great good recs too.

The sofa bed is very comfy, and the skylights never were an issue - those were the questions I had before booking. We slept really well and enjoyed the sound system and wifi too.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when we come back, as long as they're not too popular to have space!

  • Came to Austin for SXSW, and couldn't have been more happy with my stay! Nice place, separated from house and appropriately private, with comfortable couch/bed and desk workspace. Extremely convenient to downtown and the Barton Springs area (and anywhere else in central Austin, really). Laura and Mark were wonderful hosts, and made me feel right at home - they even had great coffee, breakfast snacks and drinks in the room. Would gladly stay here again!

  • Great location and excellent hosts!!

  • Laura made the whole weekend easy for me, my wife, and 2 year old daughter. We arrived on Valentines Day evening and she had a bottle of bubbly and chocolates waiting for us... What a great thought! She greeted us when we arrived and showed us the place. She left out toys in the yard for our daughter to play with... Her son even came out to play with us a few times, which we all enjoyed! Laura and her husband offered us breakfast tacos on Sunday morning, but unfortunately we had alternate plans to gorge ourselves on doughnuts at Gordoughs that morning... Any other day we would have taken them up on the offer. I highly recommend this rental. It's super easy to get downtown or to Zilker and South Congress from here and the hosts are wonderful!

  • Great place, lovely hosts who provided great recommendations for restaurants in the area. The people we booked this for really enjoyed their stay! Thanks!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at this studio for four days to check out the Austin City Limits music festival and to see Austin for the first time. The studio was in a great location for both of those activities and was quite comfortable (the pullout couch was very comfortable as well). Laura and Marc were great hosts and provided us with some great tips on where to eat, shop and people watch. Would definitely recommend.

About
My husband and I live in the main house on this property with our outgoing three year old son. We enjoy meeting people, helping them feel welcome, and making sure they enjoy their stay. I am a photojournalist for the Austin American-Statesman, the local daily newspaper, so I can fill you in on many of the great things about Austin, giving you lists of places to visit, restaurants to try and things to explore during your stay. I love that we live close to downtown, Zilker Park, the hike and bike trail, Lady Bird Lake, and many great local shops and restaurants. There is always a ton of fun things to do, all within walking or biking distance. My husband and I love to check out live music. If you are heading to ACL or SXSW, you will probably see us down there!
