Casa Parra is a charming, authentic three-story abode in the very heart of the colonial town of Guanajuato, Mexico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The house dates back to the late 1800s and has been recently updated to provide all measure of modern convenience whilst preserving the integrity, style and material elements of the structure as it was originally built. The house sits adjacent to Plaza Mexiamora, one of Guanajuato's most inviting plazas, and is located only a two minute walk from the Jardin, Guanajuato's town center. Theaters, museums, restaurants and cafes abound and are located a very short walk in any direction from the house. The house itself is located at street level, has three full bathrooms, 2 full bedrooms, large rooftop terrace, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and several seating areas spread across three stories. Prior to the recent, complete renovations, the home was updated in the 1980s with the assistance of Manuel Parra, a renowned Mexican architect most famous for his work in Mexico City. Manuel Parra was a friend of the previous owner and added several of his trademark flourishes to the home, which have been left intact. This home offers the best of Spanish Colonial architecture - high, beamed ceilings, thick adobe walls, balconies and terraces, and a bougainvillea lined rooftop with a panoramic view of the entire town. Come stay in the heart of Mexico.
Guanajuato is a pedestrian friendly city and most sights and attractions are within walking distance. Taxis and buses are also plentiful. Driving in Guanajuato is not recommended.
What can I say other than the house was great, Daniel was great, Guanajuato was great. The rooftop patio at about 5pm when all the church bells are ringing, sipping wine as you gaze out at the domes and colorful houses that perch on the hillsides, well, not much else like that.
Take the trip and book this house, it is totally finished and everything works great.
Daniel's home is simply wonderful! Our family of three had the most enjoyable ten day stay in this gorgeous home. The authentic mexican architecture and artistic touches in this house were truly beautiful. We were all comfortable and had plenty of space for privacy, we each had our own beautiful bathroom. We made good use of the kitchen and terrace daily and loved having coffee on the terrace to take in the view. Sunsets were appreciated up there as well. To make this house even better, was the excellent location. We were within easy access to the Jardin, Plaza Baratillo, and all the great restaurants and night life action. Daniel was the most responsive owner at all times. When we had questions during our stay, he immediately responded and /or had his caretaker at our door within minutes. His caretaker was super nice and helpful whenever we needed anything as well. I also appreciated Daniel's flexibility with our early arrival time and also when we extended our trip by a few days. Guanajuato is a magical town and it was made it even more special by the pleasure of staying in this lovely casa. We can't wait to return.
Daniel's home in historic Guanajuato is a gem. It literally is steps from el centro. The decor of this home is perfect and I love tile.
It's location is very near Plaza Mexiamora and there is only foot traffic on this street so it is very quiet. There were three in our group and we spent several evenings and some mornings on the 4th floor terrace just gazing at the scenic city. What a great view. Daniel leaves his guests with notes about the city and reviews about many of the places to eat in town. We tried many of his suggested restaurants and had a good experience with all of them. It was an adventure finding some of them. Gto is a festive, safe and historical city to explore with it's narrow, curvy streets, tunnels, quiet plazas, music and mummys. While in the city our mode of transportation was mostly walking, one taxi and a few buses. Love the music and ambiance at El Jardin Union, the main plaza, so close to Daniel's home. This city is truly Mexico and Daniel's home has blended into the culture perfectly. Thank you, Daniel for a memorable vacation in your city and your home. Viva Mexico!
Guanajuato reminds me of one of the hilltop city/villages in central Italy without defensive walls and cold winters, but with high quality Mexican food. A lot of walking up and down the streets, a large population of students attending the local university, lots of things to do and see, large selection of restaurants, three theaters with plenty of cultural activities. When I see new places I like to live as much as possible like a local, better if a local who has a nice and conveniently located house. Daniel's house has it all; it is a masterpiece of restoration that develops over 4 stories, on the 4th floor there is a terrace with a 360 degree view of downtown + everything else there is to see. The inside is restored and furnished with the taste of a Mexican connoisseur. Daniel went out of his way to facilitate a happy and smooth stay. My only regret: it only lasted 3 days.
