Spacious 1BR, tastefully furnished with modern charm and all amenities, in family townhouse, located in historic street in Mt. Pleasant. Large living room, generously cut & recently renovated kitchen and BR w/walk-in closet. 2-8 minutes to restaurants & coffee shops, stores, bus&metro, bike share, large park for recreation.
The apartment is meant to be rented out - so you will find a clean and comfortable space awaiting you, with no owner-specific clutter, ideal for the professional visitor to DC and/or the couple or small family looking to enjoy the capital.
The apartment features a beautiful set of exposed brick walls, contrasting nicely the modern furniture, the large flat-screen, and the just recently re-done kitchen. The bedroom includes a super-comfortable luxurious kingsized bed, plenty of storage space, as well as a modern desk and great spaces to work, write, think, create. Despite being a basement apartment, the many windows provide lots of light. The generously cut and furnished open-space living room includes a sleeper sofa (for 2) and other amenities. The kitchen is large, light and spacious and includes a 6-8 person dining table, as well as all modern tools (microwave, oven, cooktop, washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, disposal, cookware, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, flatware, glasses, and kitchen utensils) and large dining area.
Very comfortable, the apartment is part of a 1910 Victorian townhouse from 1910. W/DR, TV, WIFI, and books-to-read are included.
Our guests have access to the whole apartment. It's yours - while you are here!
We live in the same building, and are available, if there is interest, for questions and guidance about Washington and its museums, galleries, and entertainement options. The apartment is fully separated and accessible through a private entrance - so if you wish no interaction, that's just as fine with us.
Attractive urban setting in the heart of the mixed and charming Victorian-stye Mount Pleasant neighborhood, with a farmer's market on Saturdays, less than 5 minutes walking-distance to local stores and many restaurants and cafes, and a few minutes further to major retail outlets (Target, Marshall, Staples, Best Buy, Washington Sport Club, Starbucks, etc). Nearest Metro Station: Columbia Heights (5 blocks), green and yellow lines. Bus station and bike rental station just a few minutes walk from the house.

It was a great pleasure staying at Dietmar's place during our one week stay in Washington. We couldn't have chosen a better place! The location was great, the appartment was very spacious and perfectly equipped with everything we needed and more, and Dietmar was an extremely forthcoming host. We can only recommend this place and will surely choose the same place if we visit Washington again.
This apartment was just as described in the pictures. It is very clean, modern and the host is there for any questions you may have. I would recommend this apartment for those who wake up early, as you can hear every step very loudly from the apartment above. Overall, we had a great stay here and it is in a great location.
Dietmar has a wonderful apartment. It is clean, spacious and very comfortable. He provides basic food, which is a very nice touch and makes things easy. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the metro and close to restaurants and shops. It is very easy to get downtown to all the sights. A great value and I would recommend Dietmar's place highly.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment. It was spotlessly clean and had everything in it to make our time there very comfortable. Dietmar was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. It is very well situated, only 10 minutes from the metro and 20 minutes from Downtown Washington. We would highly recommend it.
I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed staying in Dietmar's wonderful apartment, we had such a wonderful vacation in DC that we are already planning a return visit. This would be our first pick for lodgings because it is so much more than just a lodging! After long days out exploring the city, it was such a joy to return to a home and spend the evening in comfort. Eating our evening meals in a fully eqipped kitchen, and enjoying a movie before retiring. It is a perfect distance from the metro (about 15 minute walk), so no car rentals are necessary. The place is clean, comfortable and fully stocked with anything you might need for a short or extended stay. I considered it a home away from home. Thanks so much Dietmar for hospitality!
Great apartment and location. We all enjoyed the amenities provided as well as the decor. Very easy to get to everywhere we needed to go.
I spent 13 nights here while I worked at the Smithsonian and had a great stay. Check-in and out was very easy, and the apartment was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The place is deceptively large and very comfortable. I stayed during an exceptionally cold-snap but the place was warm. The area is very handy with a metro stop nearby and Giant grocery store plus countless liquor stores on Mount Pleasant. I would definitely look-out for this place again when I next travel to DC - all round a great experience and great value. Thanks!
You know a very good host when he or she is helpful when things go a bit wrong, and Dietmar was amazing when (through no fault of his, ) my trip had a small wrench thrown into it, which was soon remedied thanks to his thoughtfulness. I really appreciated that, and his flexibility with dates of arrival and departure. This is an amazingly lovely space, and a very good value! Everything is well set up and delightful. It's lovely to be in a space that feels like a home and yet does not have any unpleasant clutter. Even down to the small items, everything is done in excellent taste. I highly recommend this place for any length of stay in DC.
Check in with Dietmar was very efficient. Dietmar accommodated our check in time with out a problem. The B and B was as described: Clean, open, bright and convenient to downtown DC. Check out very efficient. We will try to stay there again when in DC.
I couldn't recommend Dietmar's home--and it really is a home--more highly. The space is exceedingly comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. My rental coincided with one of the worst winters in recent years. He made sure that I remained warm throughout my stay and handled the frozen pipes with minimal fuss and maximum efficiency.
Dietmar is a truly gracious and wonderful host. Eggs, milks, and other basics were waiting upon arrival. I appreciated that even more because I was in the process of relocating to DC and was starting a new job while simultaneously looking for permanent digs. Being able to settle in quickly made an already stressful situation much easier to bear.
It's important to note that Dietmar lives on a quiet street (email hidden)ly urban neighborhood. As a single woman who often walked home alone late at night from the metro (Columbia Heights), I never felt unsafe. I was careful, but no more than I would have been in my own (website hidden). Pleasant has much to recommend it and Dietmar is a handy resource to help discover its many charms.
My only complaint is that the space is popular. I would have stayed longer, but it was booked. No better recommendation exists than that.
