We have an Ohio City colonial filled with antiques and charm. Walking distance from the famous West Side Market, restaurants and shopping on West 25th Street, and easy access to public transit. 5-10 minute drive to downtown. Easy access to airport.
We are located in the Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland, within a short walk from the West Side Market and a number of other attractions. We are a 5-minute drive from downtown (or a short bike ride!). We are a few blocks from the Red Line train, which takes you to and from the airport.
Alex owns a bike shop in Ohio City and is a lifelong resident of the neighborhood. We can both offer you advice on where to go and what to see in Cleveland - not just the tourist-y stuff. The Red Line train we are nearby will get you to and from University Circle, the Cleveland Clinic, and Cleveland Heights. We are a short drive from Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie, although we recommend biking down if possible. :) We are also very close to Metrohealth Hospital and about 15 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic. We frequently host guests who are in town to visit one of those two places.
The area is easy to navigate without a car and you can access almost anywhere in the city easily. Ohio City also has its own small bike share program, so you can walk to a station nearby.
We have a guest room with a full-sized bed and lots of floor space for additional guests, a bathroom (shared) with a clawfoot tub, and two adorable dogs. You have to love and be patient dogs, because they will bark at you! The room also has a TV which you can use to watch DVDs provided - some movies and lots of TV shows on disc (no cable). We also have an Amazon Fire Stick with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Of course, we have wifi as well.
Restarant-wise: you have no shortage of walkable options in the neighborhood. Look up Ohio City restaurants - you'll find lots to choose from and we can recommend our favorites (and which to avoid).
We have a great front porch for relaxing and are located across the street from an interesting food import store where you can find all kinds of food items.
Private bedroom; shared bathroom, kitchen, living room, & laundry.
Interaction with Guests
We both work a lot, but we are often home in the evenings and can offer guests advice on where to eat and visit! Also, Alex speaks Spanish.
Diverse, walkable, lots of food options, great neighbors, proximity to downtown and the lake.
Very conveniently located to Red Line train stop and many city buses, including one 10 feet from our front porch. Lots of free street parking. There's a private bike share located in the neighborhood.
Other Things to Note
We have two small dogs (under 10 pounds), Pierre and Chuckles. THEY WILL BARK AT YOU. They do not bite, but are small dogs that live up to their reputation. Please be mindful of this if you are one to hate being barked at and take heed if you are allergic to dogs or phobic. Pierre is our white/brown dog who barks but is very loving and stops barking when you pet him. Mr. Chuckles is a newer dog to us - we found him as a stray and have no clue as to his history. He is quite skiddish, particularly around men, and barks quite a bit. Please be comfortable around him and he will calm down! :)
We are in the city and live alongside a road that gets busy, particularly during morning rush hour. Guests haven't complained, but it can sometimes get a little noisy. There's a fan in the room that blocks out noise.
No shoes in the house. No smoking/drugs.
We ask that guests are quiet after midnight. We allow dogs if your dog is calm and doesn't bother other dogs very much as my dog isn't a fan of other dogs bugging him. Sorry, no cats. We ask that if you plan to stay after 11am the next day to please let us know in advance as we may need to prepare the room for another guest.
Dave and I had a nice stay @ Krissie's place. It was warm and inviting and felt like we were at home. Unfortunately we were there during one of the coldest times of the year so getting around town wasn't as easy. However Krissie's home was heated and kept us warm at night!. I also managed to catch a cold and Krissie was kind enough to let us hang downstairs after checkout until we needed to go as well as letting us drop off our luggage early. All in all, it was a good and easy experience using Air BnB for the first time and I am sure we will be back one day.
Krissie has a lovely home, convenient for walking to the Ohio City attractions. She loves and knows Cleveland, and her dogs were very cute. I came during the absolutely coldest days this winter (school was cancelled two days in a row for windchill), but still managed to sleep soundly using her space heater. Key exchange was super-easy, the easiest I've done through Airbnb so far.
The stay with Krissy was great. My daughter and I were on a college road trip so it was a quick stop then off in the morning. Everything was clean and they were really helpful. Defiantly would like to come back and stay longer. Hope we get the chance.
My trip was planned to coincide with friends who were seeing a concert the evening we arrived, so things were a bit disorganized. Krissie was able to accommodate our odd arrival schedule, and things were set up well for my arrival. I got settled in, checked in to work with her wifi, and headed out for a night of fun. It's a cute house and (as has been the case on previous trips) Ohio City is always a blast. I'd love to stay here again!
Krissie and Alex are both really nice people. The house is in a perfect location to get to the medical center and about 15 minutes from the airport (which is great for Cleveland). Its an older house with tasteful decoration. The bedroom and bathroom were great. Krissie went out of her way to come introduce herself since I was only there for a short time due to my schedule.
Great place to stay. I was moving to Cleveland from NYC and Krissie and Alex were the perfect people to stay with. They made my partner and I feel comfortable, and also gave us great tips on restaurants, neighborhoods, etc. Highly recommend them.
Charming house, nice neighbourhood and lovely people. Would definitely stay again.
Alex and Krissie live in a newly-bought house in the Ohio City neighborhood. Krissie works at a nonprofit and Alex is a small business owner in the neighborhood.
