The Space

We are located in the Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland, within a short walk from the West Side Market and a number of other attractions. We are a 5-minute drive from downtown (or a short bike ride!). We are a few blocks from the Red Line train, which takes you to and from the airport.

Alex owns a bike shop in Ohio City and can assist you with any bike needs and is a lifelong resident of the neighborhood. We can both offer you advice on where to go and what to see in Cleveland - not just the tourist-y stuff. The Red Line train we are nearby will get you to and from University Circle, the Cleveland Clinic, and Cleveland Heights. We are a short drive from Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie, although we recommend biking down if possible. :) We are also very close to Metrohealth Hospital and about 15 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic. We frequently host guests who are in town to visit one of those two places.

We have a guest room with a full bed and lots of floor space for additional guests, a bathroom (shared) with a clawfoot tub, and an adorable small dog who loves to snuggle. We recently obtained a TV which we'll make sure gets basic channels and we'll have a DVD player (no cable). We do have wifi for guests. You can also use our kitchen - we have a fantastic vintage gas stove and a dishwasher!

In the morning, we almost always have coffee & to-go cups if you're on the run.

We have a great front porch for relaxing and are located across the street from an interesting food import store where you can find all kinds of food items. No smoking.

Guest Access

Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, laundry.

Interaction with Guests

We both work a lot, but we are often home in the evenings and can offer guests advice on where to eat and visit! Also, Alex speaks Spanish.

The Neighborhood

Diverse, walkable, lots of food options, great neighbors, proximity to downtown and the lake

Getting around

Very conveniently located to Red Line train stop and many city buses. Lots of free street parking. We can point you to the Ohio City Bike Co-op for bike rental.

Other Things to Note

We have a small dog, Pierre, who does not bite but might bark at you to an annoying degree. Pierre weighs 7 pounds and is very cute. We also foster dogs and may have an addition to Pierre at any given time. Please take heed if you are allergic to dogs or phobic. (As of 4/17, we are fostering a small Yorkshire Terrier mix).

  • My boyfriend and I had a quick (less than 24 hours) stop in Cleveland in the middle of a three city MLB stadium trip. Krissie's place was perfect for what we needed—a convenient place to lay our heads. Her place is so adorable and she was super easy to coordinate with. And she gave us a good breakfast rec for our way out of town in the morning!

  • Krissie was a great host. Her place was so close to the markets and in a really cool area. Thanks so much Krissie!

  • Krissie's home was very welcoming and eclectic. There was plenty of street parking. Her dog Pierre was a sweetie! My boyfriend and I stayed for only one night and went to the West Side Market for breakfast per Krissie's boyfriend's suggestion.

  • I had a perfect experience staying with Krissie.

Her house is really neat with cool art and tons of charm. Her neighborhood is awesome; plenty of bars, cafes, and things to do. Super bonus points: her (very cool) boyfriend runs the nearby bike shop so if you are a cyclist... :)

Bottom line: if you are visiting Cleveland and you want to stay in an awesome neighborhood with really cool people then this is THE place to do so!

  • Krissie and her adorable pup Pierre were excellent hosts. Krissie was really accommodating and even let us leave our bags at the house for the day so we wouldn't have to carry them around all day before our late flight. The awesomely retro house is in the adorable neighborhood of Ohio City and is a 12 minute walk from the metro and West Side Market, and a 30 minute walk from downtown. It was the perfect spot for us on our weekend trip to Cleveland!

  • Krissie and Alex's place was a fantastic stop for us! So full of charm and delightful knick-knacks. We could have spent a week just writing down the titles of books in their eclectic and interesting "library."

We met both Krissie and Alex (and Pierre the Pooch!) and they were both very personable and helpful with everything we needed. There's a great stack of local info (maps, bus schedules) in the room, which would've been of great use if we had more time in the city. Since we were just passing through, though, the location was great - super close to I-90, but far enough away to not feel like a highway hotel.

If you're ever in the Cleveland area, do yourself a favor and stay with these great folks!

  • Great place for a quick overnight stay. Super convenient to public transportation and plenty of free parking. The place was very clean and Krissie was very responsive to texts. Thanks for everything!

  • My stay at Krissie's house was brief but great. It was one of the stops along my road trip to the West Coast, and I only stayed for one night. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. It was nice to be greeted by her adorable puppy Pierre when I first entered too! :) I didn't get a chance to explore the area much, but there's a whole block of restaurants just a couple streets away and a grocery store. Also, though I didn't take advantage of it, Krissie was kind enough to leave a note saying that the bus to downtown stops right in front of her place. In other words, this location is convenient.

As for Krissie, she was very responsive. I didn't have many questions since my stay was short and straightforward, but she gave clear instructions on how to enter her home. She also ensured that I had everything I needed for the night.

With the convenient location and an accommodating host, I'd recommend anyone to stay here!

  • I had a good stay at Krissie's place. I notified her last minute that I had an additional person with me and she told me that was fine and allowed me to add the extra person, so that was awesome of her. We had good communication leading up to my reservation date. She gave me a heads up on where the key would be located to get in. I didn't have a chance to meet Krissie as our schedules just didn't align and I was constantly on the go, but I did have a chance to meet Alex and chat with him briefly....pretty nice guy. Overall, I love the old school houses and the room was definitely good value for the money. Thanks guys.

  • My friend and I really enjoyed our stay with Krissie! She was tree to welcome us when we came in and Pierre and Yogi her dogs were there to greet us as well. She was extremely friendly and welcoming as she gave us the run down.

It was a great location close enough to downtown and to some of the other fun areas of Cleveland!

When we got up in the morning Krissie was there and she let us know some great places to eat and some areas we should check out, we ended up going to a place called Melt which was fantastic if you like gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches!

Truly enjoyed our time and stay on Cleveland and with krises would definitely stay here again when I come to Cleveland again!
