House - Private room · Chatham Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44113, United States

We have an Ohio City colonial filled with antiques and charm. Walking distance from the famous West Side Market, restaurants and shopping on West 25th Street, and easy access to public transit. 5-10 minute drive to downtown. Easy access to airport.

The Space

We are located in the Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland, within a short walk from the West Side Market and a number of other attractions. We are a 5-minute drive from downtown (or a short bike ride!). We are a few blocks from the Red Line train, which takes you to and from the airport.

Alex owns a bike shop in Ohio City and can assist you with any bike needs and is a lifelong resident of the neighborhood. We can both offer you advice on where to go and what to see in Cleveland - not just the tourist-y stuff. The Red Line train we are nearby will get you to and from University Circle, the Cleveland Clinic, and Cleveland Heights. We are a short drive from Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie, although we recommend biking down if possible. :) We are also very close to Metrohealth Hospital and about 15 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic. We frequently host guests who are in town to visit one of those two places.

We have a guest room with a full bed and lots of floor space for additional guests, a bathroom (shared) with a clawfoot tub, and an adorable small dog who loves to snuggle. We recently obtained a TV which we'll make sure gets basic channels and we'll have a DVD player (no cable). We do have wifi for guests. You can also use our kitchen - we have a fantastic vintage gas stove and a dishwasher!

In the morning, we almost always have coffee & to-go cups if you're on the run.

We have a great front porch for relaxing and are located across the street from an interesting food import store where you can find all kinds of food items. No smoking.

Guest Access

Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, laundry. In addition, there may be bikes available for guests to rent if you request in advance.

Interaction with Guests

We both work a lot, but we are often home in the evenings and can offer guests advice on where to eat and visit! Also, Alex speaks Spanish.

The Neighborhood

Diverse, walkable, lots of food options, great neighbors, proximity to downtown and the lake

Getting around

Very conveniently located to Red Line train stop and many city buses. Lots of free street parking.

Other Things to Note

We have a small dog, Pierre, who does not bite but might bark at you to an annoying degree. Pierre weighs 7 pounds and is very cute. We also foster dogs and may have an addition to Pierre at any given time. Please take heed if you are allergic to dogs or phobic. (As of 4/17, we are fostering a small Yorkshire Terrier mix).

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I had such a great stay with Krissie! I was in town apartment hunting and she and her boyfriend were super helping in suggesting places to live and giving me information about the different parts of town. The room was very clean and well prepared for the traveler (books, maps, bus info). All in all it was a very enjoyable stay and would totally recommend it!

  • Great house with a strong personality, easygoing and welcoming hosts, comfortable room. An easy bike ride (or walk) to Great Lakes Brewery, West Side Market, and many more places to eat and drink than we had time for!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Krissie's and Alex's home for a night after enjoying dinner and drinks in Ohio City and exploring the city. The house was clean, inviting, and comfortable. She was also very accommodating in giving us access and permitting our comings and goings. Because of the schedule we were on, we would not be able to arrive at a time they would be there, so alternative arrangements were made with no hesitation. This offered us a perfect - and perfectly placed - alternative to an expensive hotel in downtown. The cheapest we could find was Aloft with an online discount making it $125 after tax; I think you can assume as much, but suffice it to say we were happy as clams to be saving roughly $70.

  • AMAZING! Loved the location. The room is so well laid out and Krissie and her boyfriend are such interesting people. The home has so much character and the bed was so great to sleep in.

The room itself has an amazing depth. There's a great desk there and tons of outlets. Was such a pleasure to stay at during my stay. Parking is super easy and the house is super welcoming.

  • Ah! What a cute place to stay! Krissie & Alex have done a great job with their place and their dogs were really sweet. I'd love to come back when I have more time and there is better weather. Communication and check in was really easy.

  • My 2.5 days in Cleveland were very enjoyable in large part because of Krissie and Alex. I was traveling for work, and always felt I had the space available to take care of business. Krissie and Alex offered many great suggestions and recommendations for places to visit when asked. It was a very comfortable place, and they made me feel right at home. There's some great restaurants and places to visit in the area (bookstores, art gallery, etc), and I would definitely stay with Chrissie and Alex again. Thanks you two!

  • The room is big and cozy. The location is convenience, bus stop is just out of the door, and 10 min driving to downtown. Krissie and Alex are very friendly. They provided some maps and brochure which introduce the city.
