Interaction with Guests
We have a private house on the grounds, ( at the bottom of the car park ,Hagal Farm is at the top). Hagal Farm has it's private grounds and is totally separated from our own house. The property consists of 2 separate units: the original farmhouse and the guest annex. Both have their own separate entrance but the gardens are shared.
During your stay we will not bother you, we respect your privacy, but we are available if you need any help or advice. When we are not there, we always have caretakers and they will be available if you need any assistance.
Hagal Farm is the place for you , if you enjoy the country side, nature and quiet!! We are reasonably 'far out', some would even call it 'in the middle of nowhere!
The nearest village to us is KealKill. It's around 7km away. This has one grocery shop and two pubs! :)
Bantry, a lively seaside town, is 13km from us and it has numerous shops, restaurants, bars, a large supermarket and a cinema. It also has a great Organic shop and cafe. This is our main town, and it's around 20 mins drive from the Farm. (Kealkill is around 12 min drive away)
Make sure to visit the Bantry market on a Fri morning!
Bantry House is a lovely old estate with beautiful gardens that you can visit. There is a golf course in Bantry and the local hotel has a leisure centre open to the public. There are loads of beautiful walks in the area, the nearest one is just on Hagal's doorstep, (sheeps head way) which continues out all along the peninsula. Glengarriff is a tourist town 24km away, which has lovely Irish tourist shops, beautiful old woodlands, boat trips to Garnish Island (Italian Gardens), Ewe Gardens and more.
There is no public transport. Only a bus on a Friday morning to our weekly Bantry market! Please ask us to give you the numbers of our well known and trusted taxi drivers! We have two bicycles which you could borrow, but a cycle to Bantry - and more so from Bantry, uphill, is quite challenging!!
Please respect our space, strictly no smoking inside.
For smoking outside , please use the buckets with sand for your cigarette ends.
When you have a BQ , or enjoy our gardens at night time, please respect our neighbours. Even though it may appear that we have no direct neighbours, sounds travels far at night!!
We have a no pets rule, but some times well behaved/trained pets, may be allowed, but this needs always be negotiated with us beforehand!
The surround is great, only green around for a relaxing holiday away from the noise. The house itself is "rural" as stated in the title.
We stayed in 3 bedrooms. The first I score it 10 out of 10, second 7/10 the 3rd one 5/10 BUT we paid less and we were aware of situation, so not surprise.
Overall I recommend it.
Hi Luigi, Thanks for mentioning that we did let you know before you booked, that in order to accommodate your group, one had to sleep in the small, but en suite, futon room, at a reduced price. Thanks for leaving the space so nice and tidy, and welcome back any time!
Our one night stay at the Hagal Farm was very relaxing. We were able to cook our own food in the fully equiped kitchen and have eaten it in the lage room in the top floor. Everything was very clean!
Hagal farm is a beautiful place. We had a great stay, a long breakfast and even could make use of the sauna! Definately recommended!

About the Host, Janny
My name is Janny and I have lived in Ireland for over 30 years.
When we arrived in Ireland 35 years ago,we bought an old farmhouse, and made a good attempt at living as self sufficient as possible. A rewarding experience for ourselves and our 4 kids! We also grew organic vegetables for the local market.
I became involved in holistic therapies and had a Holistic therapy centre in Bantry town for years. Our slowly expanding farmhouse also became a place for people to receive treatments and book a room for the night to savor the experience! Our 'healing' farm was born! We loved having people around and giving them the opportunity to enjoy our lovely, relaxing space and gardens. Myself and my husband, now semi-retired!- try to create more time for ourselves, and travel as much as possible. We head off to Europe in our camper van at least once a year :). This is also the reason that we now rent out our treasured family home/ guest annex.
We invite you to come stay in our 'rustic' old farmhouse that we renovated slowly and lovingly, a project that is never really finished, there's always something to do....but it is comfortable, warm and cosy, not flawless, it was never intended to be a 5 star hotel!!
We give our guest 3 options: Rent the original farmhouse only (sleeps>10), rent the guest annex only (sleeps>8) or the whole place (sleeps>18).
We now live on the grounds of the property. Normally we do not interfere a lot with guest, we really want to give you the privacy to make the place your own, your home, for the time you are there. We are always at hand though to help out as we live nearby! Looking forward to welcome you to the Hagal Farm experience!
