Interaction with Guests
My house has three private rooms available, where guests and myself share the two bathrooms and the kitchen. I travel and work at my studio often, so sometimes you may not see me around, sometimes when I am out of town or on a project I also have my bedroom available for BnBers. However I am always a phone call or message away with any question you may have, and my friend Isabel who helps me clean can assist when I'm out of town with any issues at my home.
I Live in the Historic "Bywater Neighborhood" Close to the "French Quarter/Bourbon St." Downtown and the Historic Marigny Neighborhood/Frenchman Street
A safe area where everyone looks out for one another, with families and young entrepreneurs dotting the area with eclectic bars, eateries and shops.
There are several good restaurants, the "St. Claude Art Galleries", and the Mississippi River. A couple more blocks and you're at Two of the most popular coffee shops in town, Even more amazing restaurants, vintage shops, 24hr health food grocery, and many local destinations! Our house is a calm and beautiful ride along the Mississippi 1.5 miles to the French Quarter down beautiful South Peters Ave.
Commonly sought after attractions within 1.5 miles of our house are: Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, French Market, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison, Apple Barrel, Coop's Place, Mardi Gras Zone, Mimi's in the Marigny, All Ways Lounge, and the Bywater, Marigny, 7th Ward, and Treme neighborhoods.
I recommend using the Free bikes to get around the area, New orleans is a small enough city geographically you can get virtually anywhere by a short bike ride!
*a note on the bikes:
The bikes are FREE so they are not the fanciest of rides. Mainly geared toward the travelers who are down for an adventure, and aren't expecting a Lexus, they're more like an old Toyota (strong guts, but moody) But we love them, they have their quirks, and they get a lot of use. Please, if you are not used to working with a used "get around town bike" than consider renting a bike from one of the many lovely rentals around town. (Gerkins, Bicycle Michaels, or Crescent City Bike Tours)
Other Things to Note
No pets please due to allergy concerns, thanks!

The room was as described. The location was a short drive to the French Quarter and local attractions. However, the area is on the rougher side. As we unpacked, it looked like the sheets/bedding were not washed before our arrival. It certainly did not smell clean. As I went to lay down while waiting for an Uber, I had a roach crawl in my ear. I couldn't help but think about this the rest of the night. So we decide to wait outside for the Uber and as we're walking out we notice blue lights. The police have arrested a couple of guys literally two houses over. Lots of people are walking the streets even late at night. I will say the common areas and bathrooms appeared pretty clean and maintained. The other house guests were quiet and courteous. If not for the roach, sketchy neighborhood and sheets that looked like someone had slept on them the night before, I'd have rated it much higher. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it to anyone I know.
So much charm and character, in a totally charming neighborhood. I strongly suggest staying here instead of somewhere inside the French quarter - which frankly is suffocating. Being based in bywater makes for a much more "authentic" and local experience, Andrews tips and advice are super helpful, and the bikes he provides are truly the best way to get around town.
Although my stay was short; staying at the hareem was a great experience! Would definitely recommend the space.
What a great place to stay! The room was just as cute as the pictures showed. My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights and staying at Andrew's house was very smooth and convenient from start to finish. Andrew opens his home in a very professional and thoughtful manner. Getting into the house was easy, and everything we needed was provided, a clean cute room, our own keys, the infozines (that were really helpful - we took one with us whenever we went out!), towels, etc. We met some of the other guests who were very nice, as well. As promised, the house was well air conditioned which was a good thing, as it was 100 degrees each day of our stay. We slept very well and comfortably. The kitchen was available for our use, and with two bathrooms, we never had to wait to use one. Even without meeting the host, there were lots of helpful directions left all around. The whole house was beautifully decorated and had tons of charm. Thank you, Andrew!
Easy to book. We didn't meet the host because he was out of the country. We weren't sure if any of the people in the house were the interim host. We stayed two nights in a well furnished and comfortable room. The AC stayed on so that was nice. The bathrooms were a tad bit dirty and the soap dispensers were all empty. The neighborhood was pretty nice and walking distance to our places of interest. We felt safe. Overall, good experience for our first time using AirBnB.
The house was convenient and nice. The other guests were very polite and respectful, so Andrew must be making sure he is accepting good people.
There was a simple snafu on arrival about the room being ready, but literally within minutes of notifying Andrew, it was fixed and they apologized. Very polite and attentive.
I was able to meet Andrew and he was polite and helpful.
What a great deal in the middle of Bywater! 5 minutes from Frenchman and the French Quarter. Andrew's personally made "zine" introducing us to the Bywater neighborhood was an awesome personal touch. The neighborhood is a wonderful up-and-coming community with plenty to eat, drink, and view. The bikes he provides offered us quick and easy access to the French Quarter from the East and the King bed in The Harem ensured us plenty of room to relax. 10/10 would stay here again, you can't really beat the price for the location.
