Interaction with Guests

My house has three private rooms available, where guests and myself share the two bathrooms and the kitchen. I travel and work at my studio often, so sometimes you may not see me around, sometimes when I am out of town or on a project I also have my bedroom available for BnBers. However I am always a phone call or message away with any question you may have, and my friend Isabel who helps me clean can assist when I'm out of town with any issues at my home.

The Neighborhood

I Live in the Historic "Bywater Neighborhood" Close to the "French Quarter/Bourbon St." Downtown and the Historic Marigny Neighborhood/Frenchman Street
A safe area where everyone looks out for one another, with families and young entrepreneurs dotting the area with eclectic bars, eateries and shops.
There are several good restaurants, the "St. Claude Art Galleries", and the Mississippi River. A couple more blocks and you're at Two of the most popular coffee shops in town, Even more amazing restaurants, vintage shops, 24hr health food grocery, and many local destinations! Our house is a calm and beautiful ride along the Mississippi 1.5 miles to the French Quarter down beautiful South Peters Ave.

Commonly sought after attractions within 1.5 miles of our house are: Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, French Market, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison, Apple Barrel, Coop's Place, Mardi Gras Zone, Mimi's in the Marigny, All Ways Lounge, and the Bywater, Marigny, 7th Ward, and Treme neighborhoods.

Getting around

I recommend using the Free bikes to get around the area, New orleans is a small enough city geographically you can get virtually anywhere by a short bike ride!

Check In
  • The House of Dreams (and specifically the Harem) were exactly as advertised: clean, eclectic, tastefully decorated, and in a great spot in the Bywater for easy access to the main parts of New Orleans. Andrew has put a lot care and thought into running the house and all of this work goes a long way toward making your stay there comfortable, and easy to manage. Would recommend this spot to anyone, and will look it up again the next time I'm in New Orleans!

  • Had an overall great experience! You pretty much can come in and out as you please, everything was clean and welcoming! The neighborhood is amazing and everything seemed close by. Highly recommended!

  • Staying at Andrew's place was a great experience. His response was immediate, impressive. The place was really comfortable and spacious, very picturesque with lots of character. Having the bikes to explore the city was priceless.

  • I haven't met Andrew in person, but the house and room were great for the couple of days I stayed in New Orleans. The bikes were an excellent way to discover the surrounding neighborhood and to reach Bacchanal, a restaurant everyone should visit. The place was clean, had good facilities, friendly looking, had two bathrooms, parking on site and was nicely decorated.

  • If you are looking for something close enough to everything but at the same time, a more local experience, a stay here in the Bywater is recommended. Communication with Andrew was swift and easy and though we never actually met, he promptly answered email and text messages. Complete privacy, comfortable bed, and anything else you may need to feel at home!

  • Slept like a rock, great place with kitchen and laundry. If you're not familiar with Bywater it's like the Echo Park of New Orleans. You will need those bikes if you want to get down to Frenchman or take a cab.
The street was quiet which I appreciated abd ask the neighbors say hello.
Didn't meet Andrew but he was a text away when I got confused about parking in town etc. He is right there if you need to contact him but not in your hair at all, which is really important to me.
He has a zine that he put together in your room and it dictated most of my free time, very helpful. I would stay again.

  • The room is as awesome in person as it looks online. The house and neighborhood was quiet. Distance to sites was walkable and an even shorter bike ride. I really liked the neighborhood. Andrew was always quickly accessible via text. Thanks Andrew!

  • This is is a beautiful, clean, and functional period home in the suburbs of New Orleans. Andrew was very quick to answer messages and had all the stops covered as far as the do's and don't. The suburb is very nice and safe if you remember the golden rule of any big city, "show respect." Free bikes was a great way to get around and the city is amazing, I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • My husband and I never got to meet Andrew, but he was still a great host--super friendly and helpful right from the start. Our room (The Harem) was beautiful and comfortable. We slept like babies. :) We loved the welcome 'zine with local recommendations. The Marigny/Bywater area is a great part of town. It is about a $10 cab ride without tip to the French Quarter, by the way. We checked out some of his favorite spots (Cake Cafe and Kajun Pub) and they were awesome! Thank you again, Andrew, for the lovely stay. Hope to see you the next time we're in the Big Easy.

  • Andrew was super awesome. Everything on the ad was right on and even though he was out of town while we were there, he made sure we had everything we needed. The location was a bit off the beaten path, but we had no problem finding our way around walking (during the day) and taking cabs. The guide he left in our room of favorite places to go with maps etc. was SUPER helpful. We ended up going to Cake Cafe (from his list) twice because it was close by and SO good. The room was perfect for us, and even sharing the bathrooms with the other guests was not an issue. We had everything we needed and really felt at home!
