Colle dell'ara is not a hotel. Staying with us, in our home, means treating yourself to a rare experience.
We are in Positano, in the small village of Montepertuso, located just above this corner of paradise on the Amalfi Coast.
The building is situated on top of the hill and can be reached on foot in 5-6 minutes through an ancient path, fully illuminated at night.
We are Pasquale and Giacomo, who with the help of our father Michele, a few years ago we decided to undertake this activity which constantly
is giving us the opportunity to convey to our guests our main passions for hospitality and good food. These passions, well-established in our
coastal land and agriculture, allowing us to constantly reinvent the offer to our guests dedicated, basing it on availability and seasonality values.
We host you in rooms equipped with private bathroom and balcony overlooking the sea of Positano between the islands of Capri and Li Galli. Each room has a large double bed (with the possibility of adding a single bed), and are equipped with linens, towels and toiletries. Free wi-fi connection is working in all our spaces. We provide you with keys for your independent access at every time.
Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival you will find free parking slots along the road and we'll help you carry your luggage with a special pulling system.
We will assist you from beginning, accompanying you throughout whole of your stay suggesting you the best local amenities including activities from ourselves offered.
You will have here the opportunity to experience our land through different activities such us farming excursions and local cooking classes (events organized on reservation). We always include breakfast, different every day and based on availability of our gardens, or made by the breads and cakes that we daily prepare.
The center of Positano is reachable by bus in 20 minutes or 35-40 minutes through a centuries-long staircase. For trekking lovers, our structure is directly related to the main paths of Monti Lattari and the most famous Walkpath of God.
However, we are located at the center of several important location like Pompei, Capri, Amalfi, Ravello and Sorrento, reachable by ferry, bus or car. Nearby you will find shops and restaurants.
Giacomo, Pasquale and Michele were amazing hosts!
Colle dell'ara is the prettiest bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at and the view from my balcony is breathtaking. Not only the stunning view of the sea and the houses on the hills but you can also see the picturesque gardens with different vegetables and fruits that they used for breakfast. Thank you for being such outstanding hosts.. will definitely be back again next summer!
Sublime experience. Located high up above Positano with spectacular views. Pasquale is a most gracious host, with excellent recommendations for local events. And his Dad is an awesome cook....dining here is a culinary delight! Unfortunately the rest of the family was away when we were there, but Pasquale took great care of us. Steps away from the Path of the Gods, a must do rewarding hike to a neighbouring town. If you don't mind being somewhat remote and like a bitiif adventure, then this place is for you. Highly recommended! Thanks Pasquale!

The highlight of our trip in Italy. Pasquale and his family really make you feel at home. Incredible views of Positano from our room. The diner they offer is a must... We met very nice people and the food was delicious. There are dedicated parking spots in the street below. It is located at a 15 mins walk distance from the start of the Path of the gods in Nocelle. Highly recommanded...
First of all, this place offers an AMAZINGLY unique experience. Colle dell'ara is a a treat! Hiking up to the B&B is an adventure in it's own, and the electric pulley system for your luggage is quite creative! Pasquale is extremely nice and gives a great overview of how Colle dell'ara came to be, as well as a brief family history of how his family came to live in Positano. He also gives great restaurant recommendations! There is a garden in their yard as well and every few days they have a "family" dinner straight from farm to table and all guests are welcome.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left 7 nights later, our whole experience at Colle dell'ara was wonderful. The scene set by the listing and other reviews on this site is very accurate - warm & welcoming hosts who could not do enough for us. Pasquale in particular provided us with much local information; where to go and where to dine, helping organise restaurant shuttle services and dinner reservations to showcase the best of what the immediate location offers.
We dined in twice during our stay and this was not only an opportunity to enjoy a family atmosphere and delights from the garden, but also to enjoy the company of other guests. (I don't think we were quite 'sophisticated' enough for the myrtle liqueur Pasquale!!)
Yes, the B&B is 1600 steps to the bottom of Positano but it is a lovely walk through the home gardens that cling to the cliffs where you can appreciate how every inch of ground is productive. The local bus did become our friend and was easy enough to plan days around its hourly schedule.
We wish Giacomo, Michel, Pasquale and family all the best with their future endeavours to offer cooking classes and expand their enterprise and thank you for a great start to our Italian holiday.
We have just returned from a gorgeous week at Colle dell'ara. It is located above Positano and the view is spectacular. Giacomo, Pasquale, Marco and Islam were the perfect hosts. The food and atmosphere were both amazing. I love the way the food that is grown on their land is used in preparing the meals of the day. The family dinner that was offered for us to participate in was delicious. We met some wonderful people staying here also from all over the world. I would highly recommend this BnB to anyone. There is lots to do in the surrounding areas with many amazing restaurants very close by. Make sure to take good walking shoes as there is a lot of walking and stairs to climb every day but don't let this detour you from staying here. It is a very warm and welcoming house. Thank you to Giacomo and family for making us a part of your family for a week. We hope to return to you some day. Michael and Ann Heron, Toronto, Canada
Nice place to stay. Friendly people and amazing views. A bit farther removed from things than we realized-- but nice for a couple days.

Hello everybody! I'm Pasquale.
I am graduated in Political Science and after many trips around the world I decided to return in Positano and running here, with my brothers and my family this "adventure" based on hospitality.
We always hope to offer you a new wonderful family experience in the heart of nature, good food and wine, and Slow Life!
