Interaction with host? As much or as little as you wish. Happy to act as a guide if I'm in town. If not, we can engage on the phone for your needs and questions.
Great, vibrant area with new, cool eateries, wine and craft beer places, events and great, friendly people
Public transportation is available including buses, free trolleys, bike taxis, but you can hoof it anywhere. Airport shuttles leave every 15 minutes to downtown on a shared ride (may be multiple stops) for $14 per person. Taxis are approx. $29 for up to 2 passengers and $12 additional per extra passenger, per trip from the airport. Taxis point to point downtown are typically $6.
Just ask if you've any questions! With rare exceptions, the room requires a three night stay on weekends, and guests must be over 21. There are a fair amount of stairs (3 floors) so, if mobility is an issue, this property is not suitable. This is my primary residence, so I may be home during your stay.
This suite is VERY comfortable and complete with all you might ever imagine needing. The bath & shower are especially fine….. the kind of fine that you don't find until you stay Five Star.
The neighborhood is one of Charleston's older but it's clear that gentrification is underway. One of Charleston's best restaurants is an easy walk away which is what ever drew us to Bogard St.
Then there is Steven. Sharing a home as splendid as his is more than generous yet he made us instantly feel at home and comfortable…… a skill not everyone has. He was also very generous with his enthusiasm and love of the Charleston food and wine scene. After hearing his thoughts on restaurants, we changed two of our planned reservations for places he thought we might enjoy more and was he spot on. His help made us feel much less like tourists as we benefited by listening to his savvy and understanding of the city. The quality of our short trip was amplified as we were bright enough to take his suggestions. Our one regret is that we didn't get more time to hang out. We love the city yet Steve got us several levels deeper into understanding Charleston.
We had a such an awesome time in Charleston and staying at Steven's rental was wonderful. His place is in a great location (approx. 25 min walk to downtown or about a $5.00 cab ride) and Steven was an incredible host. He thought of everything and left us numerous brochures which were very informative, plenty of snacks, beverages, breakfast items, coffee, and a bottle of wine to name a few. The upstairs suite was a perfect size for the both of us and Steven even left us a basket full of various toiletries. There also was a blow dryer and iron/ironing board available if needed. The place was very clean, very beautifully decorated and had beautiful hardwood floors. The large porches were a great place to sit and relax and a parking space was available if needed. Steven was great communication wise, answered all of our questions, made us feel very comfortable and was a very conscientious host. We would definitely rent from him again if and when we come back to Charleston!
PERFECT location- excellent host, super clean...what more could we hope for! Steven is also super knowledgeable about the city, restaurants and pretty much any resource you might need for your visit- he knew the best running route from his place and the wine he shared was a nice touch! We hope very much to visit again! Thanks Steven!
Really nice, modern apartment just north of the downtown area. The neighborhood looks a little iffey at first, but is actually really nice and perfectly safe. It's about a 15 minute walk from the historic district and just a few blocks from a couple of really great bars/restaurants (Fuel, Xiao Biao, Hominy Grill).
Steven is very knowledgeable of the city and has plenty of recommendations for attractions and dining. He's low-key, willing to offer suggestions if you ask, but not overbearing. I enjoyed my stay there immensely.
Steven was out of town when my cousin and I arrived in Charleston but he made sure everything was perfect for our stay complete with wine, breakfast options, snacks and full tea/coffee service in the kitchen. His girlfriend Tracy gave us a thorough tour and was on hand (as well as Steven) for any questions or concerns we had. Convenient location to the restaurants on E Bay St and shopping on King. Steven was incredibly accommodating (including an incident with a noisy neighbor) and we will definitely stay again!
Thanks so much Steven for a wonderful stay! The house is in a great location and is very beautiful. We loved it. Also, thanks for the great food recs. This is a great place, a great host, and a great location!
John and I had a great visit in Charleston and an excellent stay with Steve. The master suite and downstairs kitchen had everything we needed during our stay and the bed was extremely comfortable. He provided plenty of helpful information about the area and we found his location to be ideal especially for the price. We walked downtown both days we were visiting which we found to be refreshing and convenient. We recommend his private master suite to anyone and would seriously consider renting the second bedroom next time we visit with friends. Thanks again, Steve!
Our stay at Stevens' place was lovely! He is incredibly warm and friendly, (we ended up going out to dinner one night and that was so much fun!) , and is always very helpful with suggestions about the Charleston area. His place and our room was clean, spotless, and very comfortable - everything was in place, we had an ample amount of towels and pillows, and there was even a little basket with toiletries, which was very thoughtful of him. There was also a lot of reading/tourist material about Charleston in our room which we really appreciated (there was a really good map which helped us find our way around the city) Parking was super easy, and we loved the breakfast treats he put out on the kitchen counter top:) The location is in a great neighborhood, we enjoyed walking around it and exploring. It's very close to downtown, just minutes away if you drive, and there is a tram/trolley system, or you could even actually walk it (we were only there for two days and decided to drive to save time).
All in all, we had a great time at his place, in Charleston, and even more so, meeting him:) Thanks so much Steven, hope to see you soon in San Diego!!
