Cool n cozy room right in the heart of Leiden! The room is situated on Haarlemerstraat (shopping street) but located on the back side of the apartment, providing a quiet and comfy space with roof access and a chill-out kitchen space. Everything you need is in walking distance!
The neighbourhood is absolutely great. A very colourful and vibrant street right in old town of Leiden, full of shops with all kinds of dutch specialties and beyond.
As you are right in the heart of the city, the old historical town of Leiden is literally at your feet. Therefore, public transportation won't be necessary since everything you need is in walking distance. In case though you want to take a bus, there are bus stops just 2 minutes away.
This place is suitable only for 2 people.
A nice and clean room at a perfect location.
Great location. The bedroom is small but nice. Both the bathroom and the kitchen are dirty.
Thanks for the review. Yes, the location is great! Yes the room is small, and you can see that from the description and because it is cheap. But the room is very clean and I am surprised that you said that it was dirty. Maybe you should have specified what was dirty (e.g the kitchen, or the stove), so I could understand to what you refer to and improve. Because now, your review sounds more offensive than actually descriptive. The room is quite private, nice and clean and you can see that from the previous reviews of numerous guests :)
Olga was a great host!
Olga's apartment was great! The location couldn't be beat (definitely within walking distance to Leiden Centraal) and we had everything we needed for our stay. When we needed an additional night at the last minute, she was super accommodating. If I'm ever back in Leiden, I would definitely stay there again!
I can definitely recommend Olga as a host as well as her place without any second thoughts. She was a very flexible host, the room was in the very centre of Leiden, close to all the hot spots. It also provided enough of privacy, the bathroom was right next to it and it was possible to use the kitchen as well. The room is rather small but it was still a nice and quiet environment for sleeping, relaxing and working.
perfect central location ! clean and comfortable stay, friendly flexible host
+ Quite central place, just on the main shopping street.
+ The room is at the back side so there is not much noise indeed.
- However, I found the room quite small. You have a private bathroom and kitchen but no living room to chillax.
- Also the bed is not very stable. Every time you make a turn, you feel the vibration and the noise of the bed makes you wake up.
- The broken mirror on the wall and the bad wall paint do not help to make the room really cosy.
- The apartment was a bit dirty, especially kitchen and the walls of the bathroom.
For backpackers, it can be a good place to sleep over for 1 night since it is very central but for couples or elder people, I would not recommend it.
I was in Leiden for a three-day conference at the university, and Olga's place was perfect for my needs. The room was small, but had a desk and a nice sofa to relax in, which helped me prepare for my presentation. The area is buzzing during the day, but very quiet at night, as most shops close quite early. Olga and Thanos were very helpful, and met me outside upon arrival, even offering me tips and recommendations for food, shopping, and sightseeing. I wish I would have been able to explore more, as the conference took up most of my time, but their flat is in easy walking distance to the entire old city. Highly recommended.
Olga was a nice and friendly host and the place is at the very center of Leiden. It was perfect for me to stay a week there while I was looking for an apartment.
Pros: GREAT location! Very central and easy to and from the train station and all other sites in Leiden. Hosts were also very nice and friendly and gave suggestions and advice of places to see when we checked in. Room was not cluttered and had a desk that came in handy to sit at for planning.
Cons: It says no smoking, but the room definitely smelled of old smoke when we checked in. We aired it out a bit and it was better, but I'm pretty sensitive to the smell of smoke, so if you are too, just be warned. Also, the bunk bed felt a bit precarious and creaky--we were afraid of moving too much on it. The mattress was a bit too springy (meaning, we could feel the actual springs) for our taste and probably needed bigger blankets for two people. And the bathroom is pretty old style--I would suggest bringing shower shoes.
