Small kitchen with touch screen stove, little fridge and 3 kilo laundry machine, big room with spectacular view, a huge terrace for coffe drinking or just seeing the mountain
Anton gave me a very warm welcome (proactive too as I'd forgotten to check with him before leaving home). He also went out of the way to make sure everything in the flat was working correctly. It was a very good start.
The studio was clean and also quite interesting (do talk to Anton about his work…). It features access to a large area on the roof (?) with a nice view.
It got a little hot, but it's probably more on account on it being summer in Sofia than being a property of the flat (17th floor) and was manageable with nice cool glasses of water and fan.
You should stay at Anton's, if nothing else, to have a chat and maybe a coffee with him.
Anton is a fine person. Very polite, dependable and helpful. His room is great. Excellent view of the city. Clean. The studio is large (for a studio). He offered me yogurt, provided a bottle of water, and offered me to use his tea/coffee, etc. This was very gracious. I would stay there again if the two issues mentioned below do not matter.
First, the wireless did not work. He did not seem to have used the wireless router in a bit. He offered me ethernet access but I had not brought the ethernet adapter for my mac. Furthermore, I needed access on my iphone which would not work with ethernet. He offered me to use his computer. However, I wasted a bunch of time there because I could not get it to type the underscore button. Anton did not know what an underscore it and I did not know what to call it in Bulgarian. My email account has an underscore in it. So, I had to copy and paste from another account and finally get in. In the future, I will travel with my ethernet adapter and perhaps paper maps (in lieu of my iphone).
Second, my flight got delayed 12 hours. Although, this site mentions checkin is flexible, future visitors should know that the checkin is not really that flexible. Anton lives in a different part of the city. If it is after 11pm, then he has to come via taxi (as opposed to using the metro). So, he charged me 17 Lev. (around $12) for roundtrip taxifare extra. I paid it because I did not want him to suffer. But, if you think your flight may be delayed, be prepared to be surprised with extra charges. I think he should specify that he does not live there and late checkins will incur an extra charge.
If these two issues are not big during my next visit, e.g., if I am not coming on a flight but driving in, then I would stay again. In general, I would recommend this place if these two issues are not big for you.
Anton was extremely kind and an interesting person, he even came to meet me at the airport when I arrived in Sofia. His studio apartment was wonderful, on the top floor with a view over Sofia and surrounding mountains. It was modern, very tidy, clean and functional. I spent almost a whole week there and getting to the centre was easy as the metro stop was 5-10 minutes walk from the building. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you very much for a great stay in Sofia!
The apartment was very good and clean and Anton was very polite and helpful. Great choice !!!!
Very nice Appartement, great few over Sofia, a short walk to Metro Station and not far from City Center
vey nice contact to Mr . Anton
I can recommend
Thank you very much, Anton, til the next time
Amazing place to stay with beautiful view! They even have small washing machine and you could dry your clothes outside on the roof, how convenient! It was worth the experience for only 20 dollars for two people. The host was very friendly and cheerful! We will definitely go there again in future.
