No smoking anywhere on the property. If you need to smoke, you can take a walk in the neighborhood. Absolutely no pets of any size or species. We don't have TV so you can enjoy the sound of birds singing! We live in the front house and can help with questions about the area or recommendations for restaurants downtown. We live a pretty quiet life and expect guests to be fairly low key, but if you need to practice your tuba, the studio suite has decent soundproofing. This would not be a good place for you to host a gathering of any kind. No problem if a local friend or colleague plans to visit--just let us know so we understand why there is a stranger in our back yard! And please, no candles. Lights are dim-able for all the romance you need :)

We absolutely loved staying at Amy and Kern's place and certainly will again if in the area. The studio is very comfortable, and the garden is just gorgeous. Amy was extremely hospitable. Check in was a breeze, and she even left us some coffees for the keurig, half and half, and some snacks. The location is excellent, a short walk from downtown Mountain View and the Caltrain, providing easy access to the larger area and San Francisco. Quite easily my best Air Bnb experience. I cannot give it a high enough rating!

Amy and Kern's place is an oasis nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley. After a long, grueling drive, their place was exactly what I needed! The personal touches were wonderful and their garden and space is beautiful to enjoy on a summer day! I can't wait to stay there again!

A lovely little oasis in Mountain View. Amy and Kern were the most gracious, accommodating and easy going hosts. As we were staying near family, it was the perfect location for us. But not only location, the room had everything we needed, very comfortable. The winding reclaimed brick path to the back apartment took us on a lovely garden experience. Many eclectic and interesting "garden rooms" obviously created with an artistic eye. California outdoor living at its finest! I am used to a somewhat firmer mattress but that is the only comment I might make. It was the perfect situation for us. I would highly recommend.

It was perfect and just as described. Central, quiet and incredibly comfortable. Amy and Kern even went above and beyond in the welcome with snacks. Look forward to stay there again!

This is a great place. The garden is really pretty and wonderful to sit in reading on a nice spring evening, the room is neat and clean and very classy.

Very nice studio apartment--larger and nicer than what I expected based on the pictures. "Cozy" is the word I would use, not that it's small in size (it's not--bigger than most hotel rooms) but it has a homelike atmosphere. Friendly but not intrusive hosts. Comfortable, well equipped, quiet. As mentioned in the description there are bees in the yard, so this would not be the place to stay if you have an allergy or phobia. For anyone else, though, I recommend it highly. Will definitely try to stay there again when I am in town.

Amy And Kern User ProfileAmy And Kern is a superhost.

We've lived in Mountain View for 22 years and love its friendly and relaxed vibe. Amy is a high school English and journalism teacher and Kern works with a non profit that helps college students become social entrepreneurs. We love to travel, read, garden and cook. Our house was a little small for us when our two sons were growing up so we built a studio in our yard to accommodate them in their teen years. Now one has his own place and the other is in college, so we have the space to host visitors. We know you'll enjoy the serenity of our place and we will be happy to provide recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area.
