Randy welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of The Barn. The style of the space was exactly what we were hoping for: eclectic, comfortable, and fun (his record collection was stellar)! It was the perfect "home base" for our 3 day visit to the area. There were quite a few trains that went by the first night, but we got used to the noise pretty quickly. The location was super convenient- we could easily walk into town to check out local shops and restaurants. It was nice that the kitchenette had a refrigerator and microwave (we could save and then heat up leftovers easily). The bed was very comfortable (I think it was a Queen size). The only challenge was that we usually sleep in complete darkness, so it was a bummer that there were no shades on the windows. Randy was available whenever we had questions and more than happy to help! He even left a bottle of champagne for me since it was my birthday weekend (above and beyond!). We were very pleased with our choice to stay there and would recommend it to anyone!
Everything with Randy and his perfect little studio with loft was just excellent. He was a great host, mindful when we arrived late to be so nice to leave a fresh loaf of bread and some juice in the fridge. It was clean, quiet and there was plenty to look at, including an excellent selection of cd's and lp's. Thank you very much and we hope to see you again. (ps. I owe you a wine opener, it ended up in my bag after our picnic). My apologies. Tave
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed staying at Randy's place for the weekend. Randy was a great host--made us feel very welcomed and made arriving and leaving quite easy. The barn itself had everything we needed, and is designed and decorated with great style! We really enjoyed being able to park our car when we arrived and not need it for the rest of the weekend, as the little shops, restaurants, and falls are just a few minutes walk. I certainly recommend!
the "En-Suite" is a gem of a place. Every square foot chic and cozy at once. Proximity to town and privacy at once. Randy was beyond welcoming and helpful. We will highly recommend this guest house to our friends and family. Great value !
I had a delightful few days in Shelburne Falls and felt very much at home in "The Barn". It very much lived up to its description and despite very cold weather and snow i was warm and cosy. There are many individual touches that make this accommodation special and i certainly hope i will get the chance to revisit.
Wow! Amazing hospitality and amazing space. Much better than a hotel. Randy not only talked me through the airbnb process, as this was my first experience on the site, but he made us feel right at home and took care of all of our possible needs in the Western Mass countryside in a snowstorm!
The barn is a stylish and comfortable retreat so close to the amazing attractions of Shelburne Falls. Randy let us check in early, provided an emergency meal in case of snowboundness, and had awesome recommendations about where to go and how to deal with the crazy weather. The details of the barn defy expectations--a mindblowing alt-pop LP collection to explore, luxurious AND green amenities, immaculate linens, and delightful surprise decor in all the beamed charmingness of the architecture.
We cant wait to come back. Thanks for a terrific February getaway!
Randy immediately welcomed us despite our late arrival and provided a quick but comprehensive tour of the beautiful barn. One feels right at home in the cozy barn and all of our needs were met, including a wonderful homemade baguette! The restaurants and views of Shelburne Falls are conveniently only a short walk away. We spent most of the time at the slopes of Berkshire East which are just a short drive away. Would love to come back next season!
About the Host, Randy
I love painting and try hard to keep myself knee-deep in paint. Culture vulture, gardener, Library volunteer, music lover, hiker, tennis player, avid reader, firm believer in a shared economy (Do we all need three houses? What would a world where people shared stuff look like?). Happy to have folks visit our little village and to offer our extra space to guests for a comfortable stay.
