The Space

Hola amigos, now available for a long term sublet, for Feb and March! I'm right in the heart of the Caribbean center of Brooklyn - Flatbush/Prospect Park Lefferts Gardens: three blocks from wonderful Prospect Park; steps from both the train and bus. It's a very comfortable, sunny, clean, and spacious apartment on the top floor of a six story building - with rooftop access (rare in New York City, excellent perk during warm weather!) You'll have a large, private bedroom with a shared bathroom and kitchen. The TV in the bedroom is not hooked up, however you can watch videos if you want (but who wants to be in NYC on vacation watching TV?!)

The neighborhood has a funky Caribbean vibe; it's right off the famous Flatbush Ave. that runs through the heart of Brooklyn. Great Jamaican and Trinidad food just up the block. Groceries and corner stores everywhere. Please check out my guidebook for some of the highlights. I listed quite a few spots.

  • Stayed here in December 2013. Great place to stay. Not too far from Manhattan. The room was super clean, and Jeff was very helpful!

  • We stayed at Jeff’s room for 6 days, last December in our first experience with airbnb and everything was great. Jeff is a really nice person, helpful, quiet, flexible and full of great stories. He speaks a good Portuguese, lived in Brazil, so it is the perfect option for Brazilians. His apartment is incredibly clean, the room is spacious and well furnished. The kitchen has everything you need for a couple days. The location is ok, just a few steps from the subway and it is a classical Brooklyn neighborhood. Cheaper option than Manhattan that makes you feel like in your home.

  • Ideal experience! I enjoyed meeting Jeff and learning about his adventures. The apartment was very clean; the bedroom itself was quite large, with plenty of sunlight. I was easily able to work from the apartment, with plenty of table/chair options and internet. I'd love to rent again.

  • Jeff's place was cleaner than a hotel! The apartment was great within a security block with an elevator. We had our own double bed in a room with linen included. It had a tv we didn't use. Out the window is the fire escape which we used to go up with Jeff and watch some fireworks over New York - a highlight of our holiday. The bathroom was always super clean and warm (we visited for three nights in winter). The decor was cool because there were different world maps about the place plus beautiful snaps of Jeff's grand canyon hike. We spent some time pawing and pointing to the map swapping stories - another highlight. And more time studying the GC photographs during dinner.

Jeff himself was well travelled, really cool and friendly. We cooked in his well equipped kitchen and had our own fridge space. He was good with calling and texting which was helpful pre-check in.

Jeff, we hope you enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed hanging out with you. Please come stay with us in Sydney!

  • Jeff is absolutely the best host ever!!
I've been by him with my daughter and we spent a beautyful Xmas week.
Jeff gave us a ton of ideas to walk around Nyc having great time!
The place was really clean, quiet and easily accesible as the subway station was a couple blocks away and all the stores also!
Hope to have the chance to go there once again and of course I can easily suggest this place to everybody who wants to have a great time saving money.

  • Me and my wife got the stay to Jeff's place at the last minute and there was no problem. Great guy, great host, if u want a place to go its him. He knows a lot about where to go, giving you the best ideas to see those little stuff you would never think to see. He had to leave at the end of our stay and let us the key and some trick to give it back after we lock the door behind us when we left. Good neighborhood of Brooklyn, noisy a bit, for me who has been living in quiet area. Metro is really close, also all kind of restaurants, stores etc. And Jeff's appartement is really cool, i have to mention that!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jeff's apartment. It was very clean and cosy, and we felt at ease and had our privacy. Jeff was very helpful giving us all the necessary guidelines and directions/

The subway station was a couple blocks away from the apartment building and all the stores were also nearby.

We are very pleased with our stay and wish Jeff all the best, and recommend him as a great host.

Teacher/Musician/Wilderness Ranger
Hola amigos! I'm a very mellow, responsible, clean guy. Well traveled (mostly Latin America) and ready for more. If you get me started, I can talk for hours about music, history, politricks. I'm originally from the midwest (Iowa), via New Mexico, now in Brooklyn for a few years, but currently working Summers as a Wilderness Ranger in California. I spend my time as a musician, teacher, and budding historian whose really into trees, especially those California Giant Sequoias. Somehow that all makes sense. :) I hope to help other people who are traveling as much as I have been helped while traveling myself... while also paying the insane rents of NYC. :) Also, during this busy travel season, if I send a request (or vice versa) please reply asap, as there are many people looking for lodging in NYC. I've lost potential guests because I was waiting for someone to reply to a "pre-approved to stay" message, and they never even replied to say, "no thanks, we've found a place.". Thanks!
