This is the ideal place for people who love to travel off the beaten path. Enjoy the privacy of a cozy solar powered cabin and a delicious vegetarian breakfast served with locally roasted coffee, green smoothies and organic tea.

The Space

The karma cabin is surrounded by beautiful organic gardens and is furnished with a queen sized bed, full country kitchen, woodstove, a small bathroom and an antique clawfoot tub. Thoughtful touches include a soft bamboo mattress topper, Canadian made alpaca wool duvets, a reading library, board games and a selection of organic teas.

Guest Access

The cabin is located directly behind the main house and a key will be provided upon arrival. You are welcome to use the fireplace in the cabin and complimentary firewood is located on the wrap around porch. There is communal BBQ located on the porch that you are welcome to use during your stay. Breakfast is served in the main house and the front door will be open in the morning so you can enjoy come in and enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea while we prepare your breakfast. Full breakfast menu is offered on weekends only.

Interaction with Guests

The cabin is private and self contained. We give our guests plenty of space and privacy but we are reachable by cell phone through the course of your stay and of course we love to chat with you while we serve breakfast in the morning.

The Neighborhood

Batteaux is a quiet hamlet less than 10 minutes away from the town of Collingwood. It is the kind of place where the stars shine a little brighter and you'll hear the sounds of crickets in the evenings. An 8km nature trail passes directly beside our property and leads to downtown Collingwood. The trail is flat and ideal for cycling, walking, cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing.

Getting around

Our semi-rural location requires a car or a good bike to get around. There is a dependable local taxi company that services our area and a little local pub within walking distance (less than 4km away).

Other Things to Note

Nightly rates include a delicious vegetarian breakfast each morning. You can look forward to starting your day with a fruit smoothie, locally roasted coffee/organic tea and a hearty breakfast. Some of our breakfast specialties include mexican breakfast burritos, eggs florentine, garden fritatta and fluffy red fife pancakes. We happily cater to vegan and gluten free diets. Self catered rates are also an option. Treat yourself to a weekend of simple pleasures and wholesome food at Givingtree Bed and Breakfast.

  • We spent a wonderful week at the Karma cabin while exploring the different places to cross country ski in the Collingwood area. The Givingtree is a great location for getting to Wasaga Beach, Highland and Scenic Caves Nordic Ski Centres. Chai and Andy were warm and welcoming hosts and the breakfasts they served both on the weekend and during the week were fantastic! The cabin was a warm and cozy place to come home to after a day of skiing and the kitchen provided everything we needed to prepare our dinners. We feel very fortunate to have discovered this peaceful unique place to stay and will hopefully be returning some time in the future. February 14, 2014

  • My husband and I had an amazing stay at Giving Tree B&B. The Hosts were so nice and we had good conversation. The food was excellent and healthy. The cabin was so cozy and lovely. We will definitely go back!

  • We just loved the hospitality of Chai, Andy, Oscar, and Homer. The breakfasts were healthy, scrumptious (yes, even without bacon;), and set us up for a day of activity (no lunch required!). Our hosts were more than helpful at suggestions of free outdoor activities on the Bruce Trail, and great recommendations for eating out. It was bitterly cold while we were there (-26C!!), but once we learned how to stoke the wood stove, and added a few more electric heaters, we were warm enough even to enjoy the open air bathtub next to the stove. We'll be back for sure!

  • We enjoyed our stay so much, that we would wholeheartedly recommend anyone stay there if they want relaxation and a truly delightful breakfast!

With a clear view of the amazing stars at night and a 5 min drive from the water, GivingTree B&B would definitely be a place we would go back to again. Smoothies to die for!

Thanks so much Chai and Andy!"

  • What an oasis of calm. A comfortable sleep in a quirky cabin followed by a marvelous breakfast and the opportunity to pass the time in a garden with a selection of shady hammocks, sunny chairs and quiet benches next to the trail to Collingwood. Most regenerating after a hectic week. Bring your bike, a sun hat and a good book.

  • Fabulous experience at Givingtree after staying for two nights in the loft. Chai and Andy do a wonderful job of creating a warm, positive and relaxing space.

The grounds are beautiful, with lots of ways to enjoy them (benches in the gardens, hammock out front, trails for miles in either direction) and they produce the freshest veggies and other tasty things that end up in yummy breakfasts.

Breakfasts were stellar-- yogurt and fruit parfaits, fresh smoothies, great coffee plus a choice of savoury or sweet options for the main. I picked the mushroom, kale and feta frittata one day and a salsa-y twist on eggs florentine the next day, and both were outstanding. Mushrooms in the frittata were cultivated on a log out back behind the barn-- it doesn't get any more local than that.

The loft was most comfortable, decorated with an attractive and eco-friendly feel and real attention to detail (even the bathmat was luxurious!). A calm and laid-back space.

Andy and Chai are very sweet and helpful and wanted to make sure I had a great time, while maintaining a very chill vibe.

Givingtree is a great place to enjoy a bit of nature, a great meal and really fantastic night's sleep with some great people there to host and help when needed!

  • We stayed for two night at the Givingtree while visiting the Blue Mountain area. Chai and Andy were gracious hosts and the breakfasts were delicious! We had The Yoga Barn all to ourselves. It was rustic, comfortable, and we felt very close to nature.

Being from the city, we were used to hearing traffic, loud yelling, and other city ambiance. During our stay, it was very quiet. All we could hear were the crickets and birds. No television or WIFI, it was good to have a change of pace, definitely a more enjoyable experience than being at a hotel. We would definitely love to come back during the skiing season!
