Walks are in abundance and plenty. Eat well at the local superb gastro pub, The Boars Head or the village tea room in Ripley. Lots of local rivers to walk by, two or three mile loop walks or jogs and bicycle rides if you are feeling energetic right from the doorstep. The local Historic village of Ripley is only 1.4 miles, by car, bicycle or a 20 minute walk on a footpath .
A few miles north of Harrogate on the A61 road towards Ripon. A castle dating from the 15th century, Ripley Castle, has been the home of the Ingilby family for 700 years. The landscaped castle grounds and ornamental lakes are also open to the public.
In 2014, the Tour de France came past Ripley on its way to Harrogate. There is a cycle path between Ripley and Harrogate called the Nidderdale Greenway which is part of the National Cycle Route 67, to enjoy a traffic free path perfect for gentle cycling and walking.
In March 2017, the village was named in the 20 Best Villages in Britain to live in (one of only two in the North of England).
