Layne's apartment is exactly as advertised: wonderful, spacious, bright, well-designed, comfortable, and peaceful. Combine that with an incredibly conscientious host and the "Alonzo Apartment" makes for a fabulous place to stay in Chicago. I can't recommend it highly enough.
We were very happy with this apartment. Two small bedrooms and then a wide open space that was great for cooking and hanging out. The neighborhood seemed to be on the cusp of gentrification, with many humble Latino businesses mixed in with hipster hangouts. Layne was friendly and easy to deal with.
The loft is unique and fun. Layne is a good host and communicated well. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet her in person because she had other obligations. She made the necessary arrangements, and there were no problems with getting me keys and access to the property.
The photos and description are accurate, but the loft was "less nice" than my expectation. Renters should be aware that the property is a bitter older. The air has a musky aroma.
Taken together, the property is a good value, but may not be an ideal match for a business traveller.
Stephen, glad all went well for check in as I was traveling when your booking came in and it is rare that I am not there to meet a guest. It is a 130 year old house and have hosted business people from all over the world, but thank you for letting me know and will see what maybe can be done to alleviate any mustiness. It is the first time It has been mentioned and I appreciate your feedback. Best regards, Layne
Beautiful apartment in a great location. Layne was extremely friendly and accommodating and we had a fantastic weekend.
Layne is a true AirBNB pro. She was professional, quick to respond, and accommodating. The house is just amazing, adorned with her amazing work and other pieces of art and decor in every corner. Very clean, comfortable, and cozy.
This place is like a beautiful little museum (though not at all stuffy!) Layne has amazing pieces of art (by her and others) up in every nook at cranny. The place is big, very clean, and very comfortable.
A wonderful artists' loft in a great and walkable location. Lots of character and easy access to great restaurants.
