This listing is for TWO luxury dwellings on the same property. Together, they sleep up to 16 guests. They can be accessed separately if required or they open up to each other using a gate in the garden. It is the perfect property to stay at if you have a large family/friends gathering or for wedding groups!
AUTOMATIC DISCOUNTED PRICE FOR OVER 7 NIGHTS AND MONTHLY STAYS.
WE OCCASIONALLY ACCEPT 3 NIGHTS AT OUR DISCRETION, PLEASE INQUIRE. 3 NIGHT STAYS INCUR A $200 SURCHARGE.
Extra guests beyond base price of 12 is an additional $40 each guest per night. Children over 3 years old are an additional $20 per night.
The front house is referred to as FRONT HOUSE 1. The rear house is referred to as REAR HOUSE 2.

FRONT HOUSE 1
4 large double bedrooms with
2 x ensuites and 1 main bathroom.
3 Bedrooms with a queen bed each (to be replaced with King beds which split into 2 king singles by June 2015). 1 bedroom with a double and single bed.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / BEDROOMS
The main bedroom has a large, luxury ensuite/wet room, bedroom 3 has a small ensuite, and bedrooms 1 + 2 share a bathroom with shower, basin and WC.
All beds are made up with beautiful quality white cotton sheets/bedding and come with soft fluffy white towels and washers.
A wooden cot can be made up on request, with a high-chair and toys supplied also. Children are welcome.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / THE KITCHEN
Wonderful open-plan kitchen to cook in and stocked with all the kitchen essentials.
SMEG 900mm wide oven/gas stove top, fridge, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine + pods, Bosch dishwasher, clever fold-out pantry, rice cooker, utensils, saucepans, fry pans etc.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / LOUNGE AREA
Living space with lots of wooden sash windows and double French doors which open out onto a side garden and lovely rear deck. 2 x leather lounges which seats 5, and 2 x arm chairs. Large 40" Full HDTV with FOXTEL Platinum package, WIFI/Cable Internet.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / OUTDOOR AREA
French doors in living area open up onto a deck, which has a Ziegler and Brown BBQ, and gorgeous leafy garden landscaped with established natives and fruit trees (olives, apple etc) and grassed areas – your own little oasis complete with a hammock and an outdoor dining table with benches and outdoor chairs to relax on.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / HEATING + COOLING
Hydronic heating in the bedrooms and living area makes the house lovely and toasty in winter. Air conditioner in main living area and fans in all rooms.
FRONT HOUSE 1 / LAUNDRY
Located at rear of front house for both houses.
Access to a large commercial washing machine, portable clothes line with pegs and gas dryer.
REAR HOUSE 2
Literally just finished. Architect-designed with oak floor boards, wool carpet, high ceilings, high-end finishes and fittings.
REAR HOUSE 2 / BEDROOMS
2 bedrooms with queen beds (Bedroom 1 is upstairs, Bedrooms 2 and 3 downstairs). Bedroom 3 with 2 x single custom made wall hung beds (pics to come soon once they are installed early/mid Feb 2015). Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a bathroom.
Top storey has the main bedroom, luxury ensuite and living area. Features amazing curved ceilings and walls, high end fittings and finishes.
All beds made up with beautiful white cotton sheets, hotel quality pillows and luxury coverlets/bedding.
REAR HOUSE 2 / LIVING AREA
Surround sound system, 65" Smart TV with Foxtel Platinum package, WIFI/Cable Internet, super large comfy King Furniture lounge, custom joinery and beautiful cushions.
REAR HOUSE 2 / KITCHEN
PLEASE NOTE: There is currently no kitchen or dining table in the rear property.
There will be a kitchenette and dining table INSTALLED BY LATE APRIL 2015. Rates prior to March are less due to this and the rear house will be best suited to work with the front house in that it provides more living and sleeping space.
ACCESS FOR REAR HOUSE 2 / OUTDOOR AREA
Access can be via the front house or lane down side of front house. There are steps that go down into the rear property which also has a lovely landscaped courtyard area.
Guests will have access to the front and rear house. The garage area in the rear house is not currently available for guest use.
LAUNDRY / Located at rear of front house.
Access to large commercial washing machine, portable clothes line with pegs and gas dryer.
FOXTEL PLATINUM PACKAGE + CABLE INTERNET
Access for both dwellings.
Stocked with a lot of baking basics for guest use.
Guests will be provided with a pin code for both the FRONT and REAR property entry doors. We supply you with our contact numbers in the event you need to contact us at any time and are available 24/7. We are more than happy to help with any suggestions/information you may need during your stay in Melbourne and also provide lots of booklets/flyers and books which offer up to date and helpful suggestions.
Coburg (like any Inner Northern suburb in Melbourne) is a fantastic place to live and stay, and has really held onto a wonderful multi-cultural vibrancy - in our educated opinion, it's the side to be on!
You only need to read our reviews to see how much our guests love the neighbourhood and it's easy access to the city!
Coburg is home to the lightest, fluffiest falafel in all of Australia at one of the many reasonably priced Middle Eastern food shops.
The Post Office Dining Hall/Cafe and Hotel (see pics at end of listing) is stylish, beautiful and just around the corner (a great place to have dinner, listen to some fantastic live music or sit in the awesome leafy beer garden with a pint.
There is a lovely cafe just around the corner called 'True North' which we love and it's quintessentially 'Melbourne'.
The 'Eastern Block' and 'East Timor' are 2 other great cafes nearby. There are new cafes popping up everywhere at the moment! The quirky Woodlands Hotel is also nearby and well worth a visit.
And then, well Sydney Rd and Lygon street are fantastic and well worth a tram ride in when you're on your way to the city with lots of stop-off points! Be sure to visit Green – a cafe at the end of Sydney Rd in Brunswick for some amazing home-cooked goodness at cheap prices or Ray for breakfast.
Also nearby is CERES, an environmental park with a cafe, farmers markets/stalls, a fantastic nursery and community vegie patches/initiatives.
There is also a COBURG FARMERS MARKET. It's on every 2nd and 4th Sat of the month at Coburg North Primary School - lots of awesome produce there.
Our neighbour, Brunswick (we are nearly on the border) is full of trendy cafes, shops, pubs, bars, restaurants, parks etc
Our house has excellent fast access to transport of all kinds. Firstly, trams and trains are literally just around the corner, making it super easy to get into the city or other places along the way such as Brunswick (neighbour), Melbourne uni, the hospitals, Queen Vic markets for fresh food or the Royal Melbourne Zoo!
In addition, right behind our house is a bike track which goes into the city (with great stop-off points along the way like Lux Foundry.
The other option is to take a walk down Sydney Rd, along Merri Creek or around the beautiful Coburg Lake.
Whether you're into op-shopping, unique, independent fashion, boutique wine bars, great pubs/live music, restaurants, coffee, fabric, gardening, vintage, jewellery, bridal wear, Melbourne-made craft, the zoo, or record stores, there's something for everyone on this side, if not on Sydney Rd, Lygon, Nicholson or Brunswick Street, than tucked away in little lane ways and unexpected places that no travel book will know about.
Public transport is easily accessible from the house. The closest train station is Coburg, which is a 1-2 minute walk away near the shops. The closest tram stop is also a 1-2 minute walk away and located on the corner or Sydney Rd and Reynard (or Munro Street).
The Yellow Door has a strict 'No Smoking' policy indoors. Any evidence of smoking indoors will result in the bond being withheld.
Please adhere to the check-in and check-out times as due to the popularity of the house we often have back to back bookings and require enough time to replenish, re-organise and clean the house.
Early check-in and late check-outs may be possible depending on the calendar and will incur an additional cost.
This house is strictly not to be used as a party house. Please do not book this house if this is your intention. Any evidence of it being used as such will result in immediate termination of the stay and the bond withheld.
In staying at The Yellow Door, you agree to keep moderate noise/voice levels at all times, respect the neighbours and refrain from playing loud music at night.
Jayne was not there in person but made absolutely sure that everything was perfect for our arrival.
The correspondence before our arrival was friendly and accurate and Jayne left us with a contact no should we need it.
Would go back again and would strongly recommend it to friends and family
Overall staying is fine but improvement on following area is suggested.
1. Maintenance. E.g. door lock
2. Facilities. E.g. Cabinet for some rooms , hanging rack in toilet .
So far we enjoy our trip in Australia.
It was a lovely experience to be staying in Jayne's house for a 6 days vacation in Melbourne with my family. The house is decorated very tastefully with great plants, fresh flowers and great furniture. Having the garden in the morning for breakfast and star gazing at night was a absolute bliss. I'd recommend anybody to be staying and have a wonderful experience in Jayne's!
Our stay in Jayne's beautiful home was amazing. We truly enjoyed our time and it felt like such a luxury escape, we didn't want to leave.

Jayne was fantastic! From the initial book to the check In day and just prior to arriving she checked if everything was all okay and any last minute questions. this house is simply beautiful! Thoughts down to the tinest one. Myself and my partners family absolutely loved our time in Melbourne at this easy living house.

A lovely home for a large group excellent facilities and good transport links into Melbourne we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying here.
