The Neighborhood

I love Whittaker neighborhood. It has such mix of things to do. You can go to a choice of two different wineries territorial or the eugene wine cellars, both have very nice tasting rooms with love music often. There are many restaurants and pubs- with live music and great food. There is an bar arcade, where you can go and play old pinball and pacman. There is an great coffee shop that has local and vegan options- also live music. There is one of the best desert bakeries in all of oregon- Sweet life. And our local artist open up there studios for a Friday art walk, where many artist serve wine, cheese and crackers. If you want to go on a walk or a hike the path along the river has about 12 miles of path. With a butte to walk up and see a view of eugene. There are rock columns for rock climbing. The river for kayaking, canoeing, tube floating or swimming. And if you need to pick up something at the valley river center mall, it is a short 15 minute walk on the river path. There really is something for every one.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Amber is a great host. Friendly, knowledgable of the area, unintrusive yet reliable and easy to communicate with.

The space is central in location. Many attractions and businesses are within walking distance. The place itself is filled with light during the day and has great air circulation if you choose to open the windows. The garden is filled with color from the plants and ornaments.

It was a very comfortable place to stay and was a home away from home. All the little things we needed were here... Dishes, soap, shampoo, a fridge, a stove...

We loved it and recommend Amber's place for your stay!

  • Our two-night stay in this quaint studio was great. There's a garden outside that's very beautiful. Though the kitchen was limited, we were able to cook our dinner and breakfast there- while looking at the garden! The double bed was a little uncomfortable, but the twin bed was more comfortable. There was hot water in the shower, and LOTS of towels provided. It was easy to find and central. There was car and train noise during the night, but it was manageable for us.

  • Enjoyed my stay; the room had privacy and the accommodations were as described. Amber was available and very responsive, which I appreciated. I did have a bit of trouble with the internet service - had to change positioning to regain signal multiple times - and the train noise was difficult to deal with in the middle of the night; ear plugs recommended.

Overall, enjoyed the room; nice, bright light from the windows, privacy, and much better than a motel, with adequate kitchen space, parking, and a very sweet walking neighborhood.

  • Liked what they did with their little space. Was comfortable. Train traffic throughout night was a bit bothersome. Finding how to get in without assistance was a bit challenging as we arrived after dark. If guests are coming to enjoy the Whitaker it would be a really great place to stay.

    Response from Amber:

I leave a very detail explanation to help folks check in to the room on the airbnb page. This info usually goes to text and email also. I am wondering if possibly lance and his wife did not read this information. They seemed a bit confused. They knocked on our door and my son showed them to the studio out back. I am not sure why they felt like they didn't have assistance. I really try to make check in smooth and easy so folks feel welcome. I am sorry that this didn't work for lance and his wife.

  • Great location, great rate, great communication. This place has just what you need for a friendly stay in the Whiteaker neighborhood--no more, no less.

  • This is a charming but rustic back house. It was very clean. There were great instructions and suggestions left for us. I never met Amber but had no problems with check in or communication. My only complaint is that it was very hard to get warm despite the electric space heater. It was very close to the club where I played, which was on Amber's list of favorite local spots.

  • Had a fantastic time staying at Amber's adorable studio in a great neighborhood. My boyfriend and I had never been to Eugene before, and Amber was very helpful in leaving us a list of great stuff to check out as well as chatting us up and giving some more recommendations. We had a wonderful night out on the town and absolutely fell in love with Eugene thanks to her! The studio itself was just lovely and very comfortable, and had everything we could want with an awesome shower, sweet little kitchen and cute comfy bunk beds. We were warm and happy and also very appreciative the place was pet friendly :) Thanks so much Amber!

  • The place was cute and functional and Amber was amazing! There was lots of snow on the ground and I was so happy when Amber showed me on a map that I could really walk everywhere!! I had a great day walking around in the snow, checking out cool shops and cafes and yummy breakfast spots and restaurants. There were two oil heaters in the space and lots of blankets to keep cozy, and she even offered more if I needed them. I was able to park right out front and Amber's family was super cool and helpful, loaning me an ice scraper and a broom to get all the snow off the car. It's not fancy but the price is right and the location is excellent...for me it was perfect!!

  • Amber was an amazing host! Communication was super easy and friendly. The studio was cozy and quiet, it's exactly what I was expecting. The area is also great- easy to walk to everything and loads of great restaurants to choose from. Also the shower was amazing- strong pressure and plenty of hot water- divine!
