Come and stay with us in our twin/triple room with ensuite bathroom in Entebbe. Lake views from our peaceful garden and roof terrace. 10 minutes from Entebbe airport, we can arrange an airport pickup for you as well as a filling tasty breakfast.
Our house was originally built by a local man and in the local fashion, we have remodelled it with a 2nd storey to fully enjoy the views of Lake Victoria and watch the sun set while being able to sit and relax with a nice cold drink of your choice.
The bedrooms have been remodelled to include a self contained ensuite bathroom. Relax in our bright airy lounge with a cup of tea or a good book or sit in Alisons beautiful garden which will have provided part of your breakfast!
We have a lovely peaceful garden that attracts a wide variety of birds to feed off the flowers and many fruit trees. Our roof top sun terrace is the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset over Lake Victoria and Western Uganda.
Interaction with Guests
We are inviting you to stay at our house and be our guests we come and go as necessary and enjoy meeting a wide variety of visitors. You can sit and chat or simply read a book in our garden or wherever you fancy the choice is yours.
Alison and I welcome you to join us on the terrace around 6pm to enjoy a sundowner have a good chat and watch the sunset. We think it's perfect and never tire of enjoying it.
Oh and if your a dog lover our two dogs Tippy a 7 year old Ugandan rescue dog and Maisie our Alaskan Husky!!! Love nothing better than going for a walk so feel free to offer to take them. If your not a doggy person then don't worry as they are banned from the guest areas and both know where the boundaries are. They are house pets and not guard dogs so are very lovable and will be only too happy to let you pet them.
We live in a semi rural environment with cows and goats grazing on the grass road sides, local ladies run little fruit and vegetable stalls. A 15 minute stroll brings you to the ferry landing point for the Ssese Islands and a soporific or lively depending on the time of day and day of the week local market. Wander around in safety and interact with the wonderfully friendly local Ugandans who always have a smile for you.
If we are going out then jump in with us or we can get you a Boda Boda (motorbike taxi) or a 5 minute walk down to the main road gets you access to the local taxi minibuses which are as thick as fleas on a dog! transport is very cheap. Beware that Bodas are risky but quick and cheap.
Other Things to Note
All bathrooms have different forms of hot water systems and if your using our solar system then beware it is hot enough to make tea and coffee! However we have thermionic shower valves fitted so it's only at the sink you might find the water very very hot
No smoking inside, although the garden area is a nice place to relax and have a drink and a smoke if you want to.
We do expect our guests to be well behaved with no loud music or drunken behaviour.
Dave and Alison were great hosts, both really friendly and made us feel at home after a long flight. They arranged for their driver to pick us up and made sure we had everything we needed. They know the country/area really well which was very helpful.
Great place to stay!! I travel to Uganda a lot, but this is our first time staying in Entebbe. The 10 min drive from the airport just one of the many reasons I would stay here again. Alison and Dave made us feel very welcome, and helped us navigate the city with our 15 month old.
Between them they know everything there is to know about Uganda. Certainly recommend asking lots of questions. In talking with them they have saved me time, money and some frustration.
The accommodation is nice and the beds are big - I have stayed in many hotels were my feet hang over or it would not fit two people. The breakfast is also great, fresh fruit, toast and scrambled egg.
My daughter loved chasing the dogs, they are really friendly. They ended up avoiding her towards the end of our stay. I guess the relentless tickling became to much for them.
I would stay here again and I would recommend to friends and family.
Dear Alison and Dave,
thanks a lot for hosting us in your lovely house in Entebbe. We very much enjoyed our two days with you after our 14 days travel in Uganda. It was a pleasure to talk to you and share your expierences.
We could truly recomend your place for all future guest, especially if one needs a quiet atmosphere after a packed vacation and before going back to "normal".
Such a wonderful experience to be welcomed so warmly by Dave and Alison when arriving in Entebbe, we felt like we were visiting family. Comfortable bed, luxurious towels, great breakfast, friendly atmosphere. We learnt a lot about Entebbe in our short stay. This far exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much. Max and Leonie from Australia.
Our first couple of days in Entebbe were amazing and just what we needed to start our holiday. David & Alison were great hosts, extremely flexible and provided detailed information about the area and where to go. The house is beautiful a good view from the balcony over Lake Victoria and bird life to be seen in their garden. Our bed was really comfortable and the showers are hot (a treat in Uganda as we found out). They have great knowledge of Entebbe and give you advice about things to do, places to go and restaurants.
The property is not too far from the airport and if you are a light sleeper like me you might need earplugs as there is the occasional plane taking off or landing, but you really won't know the airport is there otherwise.
Breakfast was delicious and catered for all tastes and sized bellies, with porridge, fruit, and my wife's favourite banana pancakes.
Their local taxi driver (Charles) charges very reasonable prices and stepped in at the last minute to take us to Masaka. Unlike other Taxi's he knows where David & Alison live and so, if you can, book him in advance through David & Alison.
Entebbe itself is a really great place walk around with markets, craft areas and beautiful beaches. The people are very friendly and we felt very safe walking around and asking for directions. Unlike other areas you don't get hassled for money. There are great restaurants (Faze 3) which have an extensive menu and you will not bust your budget on a very good 3 course meal.
We would definitely recommend.
We are a semi-retired couple who are restructuring and enjoying living in Uganda after teaching in England for over thirty years. Dave is an old Uganda hand having been brought up out here. Alison enjoys the change of pace of life and wide variety of fresh produce in the local markets, as well as volunteering at a pre-school orphanage directing teacher development and learning materials
