Centrally located private room with shower/wc. Almost all city highlights within walking distance. Restaurants, bars, shops, theaters and live music clubs around the corner.(Leidseplein)!
Cosy, well equipped room with private bathroom right in the city center. There is a double bed and a convertibale sofa for a third person (+20 euro), which sometimes can be useful, but not ideal . You can be by yourself since the room is separate from my apartment. Free tea or coffee is provided and drinks may be refrigerated in the mini bar. In the bathroom you'll find towels, soap, shampoo and a hairdryer. There is radio, tv with various channels in your own language, a DVD player and internetacces through WI-FI. You'll find a small library in your room where you may exchange books. In the guestbook you can share your experiences with others.
The room is located on the fourth (!) floor of a 19th century building and is only accessible via a steep staircase. If you are infirm or traveling with large suitcases, this could be a problem. I live on the first floor where I can optionally serve breakfast (+7.50 euro pp)
Interaction with Guests
It's my pleasure to provide you with information about the city. I may assist with reservations for theatretickets or (my favourite) eateries.
Depending on what you'd prefer the heart of the historical citycenter will surprise you with art in its numerous museums, offer you rock concerts at legendary venues like the Paradiso or the Melkweg (Milky Way), allow you to party in one of the many clubs, have a picnic at the Vondelpark, go shopping, admire the architecture from a canal boat or enjoy a nice dinner. There are endless opportunities.
There is a direct bus service (197) from Schiphol airport to the Leidseplein (taking half an hour). From the central railwaystation it's a 12 minutes tram ride (tram 1, 2 or 5) . All public transport, taxi, canal boats and bike rental within easy reach. Parking fee on the street is 4 euro per hour(!) from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Other Things to Note
The price includes wi-fi and cleaning expenses, not the breakfast.
I speak Dutch, German and English fluently and also some Spanish.
The room is situated in a private house with various apartments. I take it for granted that my guests understand that they should not bother the neighbours and act safely. No smoking. No drugs.
It was wonderful staying in the apartment - small but lovely, the only disadvantage is the many stairs leading to the apartment. The location was great and the host was wonderful, Edith explained us a lot about the city and in the room there is a folder with useful information that helped us, thank you very much!
A lovely clean and cosy apartment quite literally in the heart of Amsterdam. The location is very central so that it's a short walk to the canals but not too close that there's a lot of noise when you want to relax on an evening. The room had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Edith was very welcoming when we arrived and offered to help us with maps and there was a useful handbook in the room which helped with attractions, transport and such!
This was my first experience at using an Airbnb listing and can't fault it one bit.
Thanks Edith for having us :D
Tolle Unterkunft in zentraler Lage!
Thank you Édith, for everything! You have been well received and well explained how to make the most of our weekend.
We had a vert good stay in the room which is nice, colorful and very well located.
I hope to see you a next time.
Echte gastvrouw, heerlijk ontbijt, fijne bedden, perfecte locatie! Cultuur, historie, muziek, film, theater, winkels, heerlijk eten: allemaal op loopafstand, met Edith's B&B als rustige uitvalsbasis. Aanrader!
Fantastic room in a great location. All you could need for a few days exploring the city. Comfortable, clean, great design and a wonderful host. Highly recommended!
Although Edith was away when we stayed, we were made very welcome by a neighbour and Edith provided us with a bottle of wine to compensate for some minimal building works outside the flat. We did not know the room was self-contained until we arrived or that is was up 66 stairs (not a problem for us, but definitely not for the infirm or those with very young children). The area was really quiet but central.
Originally I am from Frankfurt, Germany. I have been living in Amsterdam for 25 years and I love the city with its cultural activities like theatres, modern dance productions, pop concerts, cinemas, museums and all kinds of festivals. I enjoy the urban, cosmopolitan atmosphere. I earn my living with the B&B, as a substitute schoolteacher and sometimes as a translator. I've travelled around quite a lot (as a backpacker when I was younger and a bit more at my leisure nowadays, on my own and in the company of others). I therefore know how important it can be to find warm hospitality and a nice place to stay in foreign surroundings. This is what I would like to offer my guests. In return they will enrich my mind with their stories and experiences. I speak Dutch, German and English fluently and some Spanish.
