Kule was a great host, and his assistant Cynthia was really good at quickly sorting out any issues that arose. The apartments ( this one is next to Cosmo B) are well located in Upper Hill, and breakfast at Nairobi Java was a morning treat. Well worth staying here!
Thanks, Kule and Cynthia and Mama Kule!, for a great stay. You've got the Austin vibe happening in Nairobi! Happy to be back in Kenya. Thanks for providing a great space for reentry!
Perfect little studio with a comfy bed, hot shower, and convenient kitchenette. Kule was incredibly responsive before my arrival; however, I couldn't get a hold of him by phone once I was in Nairobi, and Cynthia was unable to help. In particular, there was a bit of confusion about a taxi pickup from the airport upon my arrival, which Kyle promised Cynthia would arrange. Nonetheless, the apartment was spotlessly clean, cozy, and in a great neighborhood on a safe street with nice little coffee shops. Overall, I would definitely stay here again!
I arrived to the apartment quite late after a long flight from California and was so happy to be greeted with personalized notes all around the apartment as well as bottles of drinking water and some crackers. The grounds were secure and the location was really convenient to take a nice walk up to the arboretum to stretch my legs and get over my jet lag. I would definitely recommend the complex as a simple alternative to staying in the city. I have stayed downtown and in Karen before, and this was a good mix of the two, close enough, but not TOO close to the hustle and bustle of downtown. I also met a really friendly and reliable cab driver named George who was stationed just across the street that became my driver for my 3 day stay. Highly recommend his services as well!
Only problem with the place was the poor signage of the apartment complex. The name "Habitat" was etched in some white chipping paint on the blue corrugated tin gate, but this was nearly impossible to see at night so we had to place a few phone calls to figure out the exact location.
My first trip to Nairobi was a wonderful one. A large part of that was due to the comfort of knowing I had a nice, clean, secure, central place to come home to each night.
As many others have said before, Kule's apt was in a great area and very close to the hip suburb of Westlands, where many things of note seemed to be situated, and also close to all the other major sites the city had to offer in other areas. Most uber cab rides costed me less than 600 shillings (about $6 US).
Kules staff was very attentive and did all they could to make my stay a pleasurable one. There was a minor issue with the water temp of the shower, which was fixed while i was there, and once Kule was informed of the situation he took the extra steps necessary to make me feel appreciated as a guest.
I look forward to staying at his residence again on my next stay in nairobi.
P. S. Breakfast across the street at Java house, Nairobi's popular coffee house chain, was great as well. I highly recommend it.
Kule is a fantastic host and has a great space! All the home comforts I needed after 45days trekking and camping through the southern parts of Africa.
Arriving late evening I was welcomed by Lucas (one of the property caretakers) who escorted me to the apartment and ensured all was ok.
Anything I required Kule and Cynthia were on hand to help, from laundry to restaurant recommendations. Kule even put me in contact with a local designer who gave me the best places to explore the art and design scene!
I couldn't have asked for more!
