Super-bright attic penthouse within historic house (from 1921). It has a private kitchenette, living room, office and bathroom (with walk-in closet)... plus access to the main house's huge kitchen, living room, garden, etc. Location is perfect! Central and convenient!

The Space

This is a in-law suite... access is through the main house downstairs. Therefore, you have access to the amenities of the main house, plus access to your own private bathroom, living room, kitchenette, office, walk-in closet, etc. Go downstairs when you feel social... hide upstairs when you don't.

- kitchenette (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, cutlery, dishes, etc... everything except a stove)

- private bathroom (with walk-in closet)
- there is a double bed and a futon, however the bedroom and living room are not divided (open concept)

Interaction with Guests

We try to leave our guests alone. Just a bit of chitchat during "the welcome tour", and again at the end of your stay to see how things went. Now, that said, if you need anything just give us a shout.

The Neighborhood

The house is perfectly located in a beautiful and quiet residential neighbourhood, yet steps away from Dalhousie University, coffee shops, restaurants, grocery store and downtown Halifax.

Other Things to Note

There is no parking at the house. You can park your car along the road during night and when there is no snow. During the day the car needs to be moved every 2 hours. Parking on the road is not possible when there is snow.

  • This was the perfect place. I stayed 3 nights, and would go back again in a heartbeat. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and very spacious. The neighbourhood is beautiful and safe, and only a few blocks from the heart of downtown--restaurants and museums in easy walking distance. Kristina and her housemates were very friendly and accommodating, although I didn’t interact much with them. Thanks for making my stay in Halifax (and my first experience with airbnb) so enjoyable!

  • This apartment was "true to label" - pretty much what we expected from the airbnb description. It was clean, reasonably comfortable and adequately heated (we were there in cold weather).
    The floor plan is a bit odd but never the less we considered it very good value for money.

  • My husband Victor and I enjoyed our stay at Kristina Boe's house. It is located in a perfect location, close to restaurants, a supermarket, coffee houses and a drugstore. We were able to walk all the way to Halifax's waterfront with no problems. Kristina was very welcoming and gave us directions upon our arrival. Our apartment was very quiet and bright and the bed was comfortable. We wish Kristina all the best with her future Airbnb rental arrangements.   • Kristina was very pleasant, though I met her for only a brief moment!
    My father and I were visiting the city and needed a last minute place to stay. With only a few hours notice, she was happy to put us up! The bed and futon were both comfy, the place was very tidy, and the kitchenette was a great asset! We both slept sound before having to leave super early in the morning (which Kristina was fine with). Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to stay here again in the future!

  • Great location to everything downtown in Halifax. Host was there to greet me when I arrived and show me around. Other students where also very helpful when I needed anything at all. The apt has everything you need and very quiet and comfortable. I booked very last minute and Kristina was very accommodating and wonderful in getting back to me promptly. House was very clean.

About
I am a PhD student in Marine Biology (Dalhousie University). In the house, there are 3 other grad students/post-docs (from Canada, Germany and Portugal). They are all easygoing, love to cook, and love to tell stories about their field trips and adventures. The house is eco-friendly: It is 100% powered with electricity from renewable sources (i.e. bullfrog power). All lights have been upgraded to LED. The furnace burns wood. All exterior walls have been insulated... and more. Note: Allison and Diego (i.e. previous managers) are still around (two blocks away). Let me know if you want to get in touch with them.
