Rathmines has the village feel within a large city. It has plenty of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cinemas, bars, leisure centres and swimming pool all at your door step. With some of the best trad sessions in Dublin available in the local pubs, some might say it’s the true Dublin untainted by the tourist traps.
Getting around Rathmines couldn’t be easier! Everything is on the one straight street which leads back into Dublin city centre. There are numerous bus routes that go through Rathmines which operate from 7am till 11.30. They pass by every 5 to 10 min to Temple Bar and city centre area. If you choose to get a taxi, they are available 1 minute away from the house.
There is street parking available but it is metered during day time.
We do not allow smoking in the bedroom, but if you wish to use the living room that’s fine. Sorry no pets, and just treat our home with respect.
Relax and enjoy!
We enjoyed our stay with John and Julien, both of whom were gracious hosts providing directions and suggestions for things to see and places to eat. The accomodations were neat, clean, and as described. Amazingly, the weather was fantastic! Bus 14 or 15 can take you from train station to within 1-2 blocks of the apartment.
It's been a wonderful experience. We've really appreciated the room: it is bright, cute, clean and tidy, and John and Juliet are very polite. We really reccommend this solution: it's very easy to reach the downtown.
I have been in Dublin last week and i spent 3 beautiful days with my girlfriend.
I booked the room in the apartment of Jhon and Julien in Rathmines by airbnb .
The house is 10minutes by bus from the center and there are many stores all around included pub and market. The house is very clean and Jhon and Julien are perfect Host.
Thank you guys for your ospitality
Our first Airbnb experience was a sucess. John and Julien are very kind ,friendly and welcoming.
The house is very well located, Clean and warm, very comfortable room, a lot of towels, tea , coffee a huge breakfast and others exquisite details.
We fell in love with Dublin after this visit. The first thing that caught my eyes was the brick building and the Georgian style red door (I told myself I'll have one of these regardless of the country). John welcomed us as soon as we got there without even having to ring the door bell.
The flat is just the way it's described. Well, you might say the description is not accurate when you'll feel the actual cosy feeling, which one can't feel just by reading a text.
The bed will make even the pickiest person fall asleep in it. But before that, we had to eat the chocolate that lay on it, otherwise we'd have made a mess. If you come from the continent and bring your whole technology with you, don't worry about plug adapters. The tea selection box turned me into a posh gentleman sipping tea in the morning.
The white cupboard and the hearth brought up the nostalgia in me. If you spend some time indoors, there are books and dvds.
What I enjoyed the most was the fact that we could spend time with the hosts in the living room and stay for a chat, not just the "I'm-a-tourist-give-me-some-tips" kind of conversation. Well of course, you get that as well, even a map.
If you liked to feel that you're a part of Dublin, and not just a tourist in a hotel, this would make a good choice.

WOW! My first AirBnb experience was a tremendous success. The short time my friend and I spent at J&J's place was great. The two are absolutely friendly, fun to be with and talk to in the evening while watching discovery science. We had few but lovely moments together!
The room and the flat are even nicer in real life but the pictures on AirBnb definitely show how their place looks like. Everything is clean and absolutely cosy. It just felt so warm and a little bit like home! There were little chocolates in our bed and lots of towels. There was plenty to eat for breakfast - cereals, fruits, yoghurts, coffee, cheese, ham.... Just perfect! Couldn't have been better!
We spent a great time in Dublin and fell in love with this beautiful city. We had a great time with John and Julien at their lovely place just a 15 minutes bus ride from the city centre.
We would definitely come back to stay with them and we would love to spent an evening at Mother Reillys just across the street with these two guys! We will never forget this trip.
A big THANKS for everything and see you next time :)
All the best,
Luisa & Maggie
About the Host, John
Hi, we're John and Julien. We are a couple living together for the last 9 years in Dublin. Julien is orginally from France and has loved Ireland so much that he's been here for the last 14 years. I'm Irish, born in Limerick and living in Dublin for 9 years.
We love travelling exploring new cities, people and culture.
As we are both well traveled we have tried to create a restful gem for the wary traveler with all the things that wouldn't fit in your suitcase at your disposal.
