Though I didn't meet Cheryl, it seemed she lived elsewhere, she was incredibly responsive to all of my calls. Even when I had to come in a few hours early because of car trouble, she welcomed me.
As for staying, it too was a real pleasure. The room I stayed in, which was the one with an adjacent bathroom was very welcoming. As I read tale of in other reviews before staying, the bed was truly comfortable! Other fantastic selling points was the proximity of the house to all of the wonderful downtown Charleston things. A $6 Uber will get you to to Bay Street or a 20-25 minute walk! Also the bathroom was very modern. All provided amenities (towels, blankets, etc...) were clean as were the rented quarters themselves.
The only downside to my stay was that the rest of the house felt very off limits. Not to say that i'm someone who needs to go through the rest of someone else's house and I didn't even spend but sleeping hours in the house, I felt worried I was breaking a house rule by even filling my water bottle in the downstairs kitchen. Other AirBnB stays of mine around the country have been very inviting as long as you are respectful and clean.
Overall, I would stay again - and it was a very high value stay considering it's proximity, cleanliness, and comfort.
P.s. This room, with the private shower, has a permanently fixed rain shower head (comes down from ceiling, not out from the wall) so if you're taller than 6'0 - you might need to bend a little bit to fit under it.
Thanks dear for the grand , thorough, and complimentary review...I do live in the house , renting the upstairs...never in that area myself except to clean, and my living space is downstairs...you write beautifully and your respect to my house parallels you gift...and certainly you could have filled your water bottle.....cheers and you are welcome any time...cheryl
Cheryl's home was clean and inviting. The neighborhood is very convenient to all Charleston has to offer. Her price was fair and she communicates with you very well. This is a private residence and there is another rented room across the hall which didn't bother us but worth mentioning if thats a concern of yours. Thanks for a very nice Valentines weekend.
We never actually met Cheryl, but she left good instructions. The room was clean and attractive. The neighborhood was very quiet but convenient to downtown. Two bicycles were available and they made getting around both fun and easy.
Cheryl's home as beautiful. It was a little chilly out side so we really didn't even get to use the back area. The room is cozy and the bed was beyond comfy. We had a bottle of wine as a lovely gift very nice touch. Everything was clean and in our brief meeting of Cheryl she was so lovely and welcoming. Proximity of the house to everything was perfect. Thanks again for making my first trip to Charleston a memorable one.
Cheryl was a great host. She wasn't there when we arrived, but her instructions were spot on. Everything was as advertised. Comfortable room, convenient location.... The attractions of downtown Charleston are within an easy walk.
My sister and I stayed in Cheryl's home during our trip to Charleston for a half marathon and we could not have felt more comfortable and welcome. Cheryl was very hospitable and helpful and we enjoyed our time there. The house was exactly as described and then a little extra wonderful to boot. We would definitely recommend it!
Ok Birmingham beauties.. You have to visit again...the bridge run...the blues festival...spoleto...reindeer run...beach time...July fourth...see you again hopefully...thanks for your sweetness....stay in touch...Cheryl...you'd better keep my email otherwise you can't get it from airbnb unless you are booking...
Cheryl left a bottle of wine and instructions for us when we arrived. Her directions to the spot were perfect and the room was very nice. She had complimentary bikes available for us to use, which I thought was very nice. The location is great as well! Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go on our short visit.
Thanks for your kind words...what you liked would have been important to me...so happy that it pleased you...I'm thinking about a lock...bit the woodwork is scrollee and I hate an ugly lock...maybe a floor wedge...any ideas...certainly no key thing because to many lock outs...open to ideas and thanks for thinking about it...cheers and visit again...cheryl
