The Space

1 Room for $89
Our home is etched into a mountain and we share it with birds, deer and a variety of natural foliage. The decks out front provide a spectacular view of mountainous, wooded surroundings and a quaint downtown area which is just a 10 minute walk down the hill. Whether you enjoy mountain biking, fine wines and great restaurants, or simply an opportunity to get back to nature, this is a good place to do it all.

Our home was built in 1920 and is filled with happy memories. There are flower gardens, decks overlooking the town, a small orchard with various seasonal fruits. It is a good and relaxing place to spend time during the day and rest your head at night.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to a small jacuzzi, wireless internet, a small shed to store bikes, several decks, a living room, kitchen and bathroom to name a few. We have a Pack & Play highchair and toys for a small child. Additionally, we have a foam mat for an older child (7 and under) to sleep beside the bed.

Interaction with Guests

Rob and I are a social couple who love traveling and meeting new people. We also enjoy cooking and look forward to providing breakfast each morning with fresh eggs from our chickens and hand picked fruit from our orchard.

. The room is quaint and airy with many windows to appreciate this beautiful surrounding. It is a quiet and tranquil experience where most often the only noise is a gentle breeze or the sound of me cooking in the kitchen.

We hope you come and enjoy it with us soon.

The Neighborhood

Wonderful neighbors and a Mediterranean flavor to the views with many hiking and biking trails.

Getting around

Six min. to local transit stop and a 20 min drive to the Golden Gate Ferry

Other Things to Note

Picnic lunches are available for $10.00 upon request.

  • My stay here at Joanna's place was really wonderful in every way. Super comfortable and relaxing, great hospitality, and an amazing breakfast the next morning. This is what airbnb is all about.

  • I ended up staying with Joanna and her husband again. Once again, my experience was outstanding. I can't recommend Joanna highly enough or their property. If you find yourself in Marin county see if the property is available. You'll love your experience.

  • Joanna was a spectacular hostess with the mostest! She is an earth Mama type who leaves everything in her wake in impeccable shape. Wonderful breakfast with warm, scratch-made biscuits, assorted home made jams, eggs (fresh from her own chickens) or granola, oatmeal, juices and coffee. A special little basket of emergency "I forgot" items in each room! No courtesy ungranted. Every special little touch revealed. The view is spectacular. The atmosphere homey and calming. Really enjoyed it! I would heartily recommend A Bird's Eye View and Joanna's attentive care to anyone who needs a place close to San Francisco, yet wants to relax!

  • Staying with Joanna and Rob was like stepping back in time- to a time when old-fashioned hospitality meant more than just taking your money for the night. They welcomed me with open arms as if I were part of their family. We engaged in interesting conversation every day. They were extremely flexible with my crazy schedule- I ended up being much more busy than I had initially anticipated. Joanna prepared a sumptuous breakfast daily which I just had to take pictures of! From homemade pastries to eggs from their own hens, I really enjoyed a country experience at their home in Fairfax.

Dear Marc, thank you for your kind suggestion and I sure you may be correct. I would not be as comfortable in a house full of Buddas! Funny tho, the candle was just a night light and not linked to the scripture below. Never thought of that as candles and liturgy have nothing to do with our beliefs. We enjoyed the stimulation of your conversation, ideas and music. Thanks for bring Diana up to meet us.. Very interesting, food for thought! Give her our regards a charming loving lovely person. Hope you do well with your music, I am sure you will. Have not seen Ben of late but will give him your card when we return to Marin Co.. Best Wishes, Joanna and Rob

  • I cannot say enough good things about Joanna and Rob and their beautiful home. This urban homestead was the picture perfect Bed and Breakfast with quaint architecture, stunning views and a short walk to town and hiking trails. Johanna and Rob's kindness and attentiveness to my every need far exceeded my exceptions. Joanna made me a delicious breakfast every morning with fresh eggs from their chickens, home baked bread and berries from their garden. At night she left a tasty little snack. I felt very taken care of and thoroughly enjoyed my hosts.

  • Joanna's home was charming and beautiful. The view from almost every room is amazing. It was such a relaxing place to stay and Joanna thought of every special detail - snacks in the room, an amazing breakfast, tea. Joanna and her husband were extremely welcoming and made me feel like family. I enjoyed being so close to the town of Fairfax and from many great hiking trails as well. The perfect getaway!

  • This was a great place to stay, a charming house perched high on a hill overlooking the charming small city of Fairfax in the Marin County hills. Joanne is an attentive and thoughtful hostess who cooks a great breakfast and takes care of all the small details that make this a real B&B experience. Joanna and her husband Rob are friendly and sociable without being intrusive. The bed is comfortable. The room is small, but the great view more than makes up for the size. The neighborhood is a quiet residential one, up small winding roadways. Only one bathroom in the house, but this was not a major issue.

  • I booked my stay very last minute, but that was no problem for Joanna and Rob and everything was perfectly prepared when I was arriving (even the cookies!!).
After travelling the weeks before on my bike and on myself along the Pacific Coast, I really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful home above the nice little town Fairfax (the view from the room is amazing!!! ). We had great conversations, but there was also enough space for privacy.
I'm really happy that I met Joanna and Rob on my trip around the world and hope that I will come back some day to see both again!!! Thanks a lot!!!

  • What an absolute joy corresponding with joy about a future stay in her lovely home! She went above and beyond host duties and I appreciate her willingness.

  • Joanna's room has a great view of trees. She is very nurturing, and gave me freshly baked persimmon walnut cookies. The next morning, she made excellent eggs (from chickens in the yard) and biscuits. She told me a story of a hen that kept sitting on an egg hoping it would hatch, so she got a day-old chick for the hen. I really felt taken care-of, and will stay there again.
