It has been fully remodeled with lockable compact bedroom suites with private bathroom(with shower stalls) in every bedroom. You will share the common area with other airbnb guests. Sandwiched in between the Post and Courier Newspaper and the historic Cigar Factory. We are a bike ride away from all restaurants and bars. We are a few blocks from the Ravenal Bridge. Nice room, comfortable bed, had a really nice outdoor space for me to enjoy a cigar or three. Location is great with Palace Hotel around the corner and the Old Cigar factory shops, bars and restaurant only four blocks away. Brenda is a wonderful host, great communication and I l…

This is not a safe area. Look at a crime map before booking a stay here. We decided to stay in this air b&b based on its walkable distance to king street and the price. Unfortunately, I felt so unsafe outside the b&b that I had to use Uber to avoid walking in the area even though…

I am so sorry that you felt unsafe. It is a mixed neighborhood. I assuming you live in a whiter one. There is not a liquor store next to my airbnb, it is a barber shop. And people do hang out there waiting to get their hair cut. And this is what people do in an Urban environment as most people don't have yards to hang out in, I'm assuming that you live in a suburb somewhere in white america. I am 61 years old and have lived in my neighborhood for 10 years and have never had a problem. I actually know these people and respect them. The barbershop next door is where one of the Charleston 9 worked. He was gunned down in his church by a crazy white man. I think that you were very safe in my "hood". None of my friends or neighbors would harm you. They would go out of their way to help you. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I clean the rooms myself but did you a favor and let you in early, trying to accommodate you so maybe I did hurry through the cleaning a bit. It's always the people one does favors for who (Website hidden by Airbnb) I do recommend that you stay in a hotel next time obviously you are much too delicate for my place. If you bothered to look at my other reviews you would see that I have over 400 really great reviews and then there is yours. Have a great day and thanks so much for staying with us! :)

Brenda's place worked out great for my long weekend in Charleston. I liked its homey feel, especially when compared to most hotel rooms that can feel so dull and standardized. My room was more than big enough for me and would easily accommodate a couple as well. I do think the co…

I stayed here for a month and was quite pleased with the location, cleanliness of the apartment, and Brenda's responsiveness. It's close to the main areas in downtown and a block away from a bike share. There's a liquor store on the corner that might attract some sketchier folks,…

Brenda is a hospitable host, providing muffins for the morning for her guests. She has a handful of rooms with shared space, and we didn’t run into anyone else during our stay. The location is close to everything in downtown Charleston, so if you’re planning on walking everywhere…

Good location close to bikes, which you’ll need in the summer heat! Don’t walk or you’ll be drenched. Free public parking on this street only (super plus)- parking is expensive and hard to find otherwise. Lovely garden and secluded apartment.

Very convenient location to fun things to do (king st). However, neighborhood did not feel safe. Was also concerned with the amount of weeds brushing against me as I was trying to get to the door. Shower wasn’t very enjoyable- water would get extremely cold and extremely hot wit…

Thanks for staying with us Erin. I am sorry the plants were an inconvenience, it has been raining here for a number of days and the water weighs the plants down. I don't think it was weeds , those plants are called bamboo plants. And then there are hibiscus plants,, those were the ones with the red flowers...I am sorry you did not enjoy my garden! And as for the water, as explained on my airbnb page, I have a tankless water heater, what that means is that once you turn the water on you must leave it on, as it gets hot when the water is running through it. If you turn it off then it must go through the cycle again. I live on premise and you could have called me. I'm very responsive. And as far as cooling was concerned you could have adjusted it to any temperature you wanted. It has arrows on the side of the thermostat that go up and down....again you could have called and I would have told you that!! And I am not really sure what you mean by too expensive I think you got a lot of bang for your buck! As hotel rooms are going for much more. Maybe you should try a hotel next time. lol :)
