The Space

Located in a safe and quiet neighborhood, just 3 blocks from La Fortuna town.
It has all the things you will need:
* Kitchenette (kitchenware: refrigerator, electric skillet, rice cooker, hot plate, coffeemaker, microwave, cookware).
* Living room with couch & Flat screen TV 32''.
* Cable.
* Free wi-fi.
* 2 adjoining bedrooms with A/C, each one.
* Bathroom with hot water (amenities includes: toilet paper, soap, Shampoo, bath towels).
* Parking lot for 1 or 2 cars.
The apartment is well equipped up to 5 people (one of the bedrooms has a double bed and the second one, has a bunk bed with an extra mattress).

Guest Access

Since the location is just couple blocks from town, you will have quick and easy access to supermarkets, restaurants and bars, souvenir, drugstores, tourist attraction like: hot springs, horseback riding, visits to waterfalls, bridges, etc. (some of the atractions are not in a walking distance but it allows you to take a cab or to book a tour with transportation included).
The apartment is completely private from 1 to 5 people it depends of the people traveling.
* Housekeeping is not included everyday (only after checkout), but if you want housekeeping service every day, it can be arranged (extra fee will be apply).

Interaction with Guests

About me?, Dogs lover (puddle style... maybe not a manly breed, but well guys... nobody can be perfect).
I've been working in tourism for over than 10 years and because of that, I decided to start renting fully furnished apartments to people who are looking for the best comfort, in a place away from home. It means I will definitely help you almost on everything and I will try to make your stay as if you were at home.
I will be always available if you need suggestions for your travel itinerary or activities in La Fortuna.
Once the apartment is booked, I will also send you a document with more details about what I like the most in Fortuna (local spots, interesting things to do, options places for eating or drinking). Likewise, the document shows with more details the address from town to the apartment.

The Neighborhood

As I mentioned before, the neighborhood is safe and quiet (family area). As safe as you can walk at midnight without any concern (I have done it several times). La Fortuna is a warm town with friendly people, but of course, you always have to watch out for your belongings.

Getting around

Public transportation gets to La Fortuna from San José. You can take optionally a shuttle service if you are not renting a car.
There are also, flights arriving to El Tanque, which is located 20 minutes away from La Fortuna.
If you are coming from Monteverde, the cheapest way is booking a Jeep-boat-Jeep, it can drop you off at the apartment.
In case you care coming from a different area, there are good shuttle companies like: Interbus, Gray Line, Ride CR, Desafío Adventure, Montezuma Expeditions. They won't drop you off to the apartment, but Arenal Rabfer hotel is located just 200mts away, so you can give that hotel as drop off place.

Other Things to Note

If you need any suggestion or advice, just let me know, I know pretty well the country and I work for a travel agency, so I can help you to save a lot of money. I can also suggest itineraries and recommendations for the rest of your stay in the country.

  • This was the best decision ever! The apartment was very close to town and within walking distance of many fun restaurants and businesses. My friends and I greatly enjoyed this experience.

  • Although we did not have an opportunity to meet Roy, the communication was excellent from the beginning to the end of our stay. His condo was very spacious for the two of us and we enjoyed having a full functional kitchen to make breakfast during our last day in La Fortuna. You can't beat this location with a mere 3 block walk to the center of town. The view of the volcano from the street didn't hurt either. When I come back to La Fortuna I will 100% stay here again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • Great stay! A really good apartment for even better price. Roy was very helpful, sent us clear directions and even recommendations where to spend time in the area etc.Highly recommended!

  • Roy's place was as expected, clean, comfortable full-size bed, kitchen with microwave, utensils, frig, electric pan, two hot plates, mixer, good WiFi connections and flat screen TV. Nice back patio. Very close to the center, about 10 minute walk to supermarket, park, restaurants, bar, tour offices (Pura Vida Tours and Desafío behind the church) and taxi stand. It was a picturesque view of the volcano. Arriving at night, which I do not recommend, Roy had Jose pick me up for $120, drove on highway which has lots of curves. If you chose to rent a car drive carefully in La Fortuna for locals do not stop at stop signs. Most tours can be driven to by car or taxi: Both restaurants mentioned in Roy's email were close by with good food but no air conditioning. Free bus at Kazan's will take you to the discotheque and back. Safe to walk at night but bring a flashlight when walking back to the apt. Baldi hot springs was great which included a buffet dinner for $31 if you have your own transportation or by taxi. La Fortuna is a small town and very clean. Mostly Spanish speaking locals with limited English but very nice. You can use colones or US dollars.

  • Roy was an excellent host, he went beyond and above our expectations. Upon our arrival in Costa Rica we had a minor car accident in Alajuela where our vehicle was slightly damaged. I did not have phone service, but was able to use WIFI to send Roy a note about our incident. The minute (literally) of our arrival in La Fortuna, Roy took us to a local mechanic to tend to our vehicle. I was amazed at the kindness of those people. As a host, Roy is very knowledgeable and has answers for all of your questions!

His apartment is on a very quiet street, but within walking distance to a grocery store, post office, church, central park, and many many different restaurants. Apartment has air conditioning, equipped kitchen, and a cozy patio where we had our breakfasts and relaxed after a long day of adventures at Arenal.

I would highly recommend staying at Roy's place to anyone who comes across this listing!

  • The location of this apartment was perfect. Just a short walk to the centre of Fortuna. The air conditioning works great. Although we never got to meet Roy he was always available for any questions.

  • Nice and spacious place, very confortable. Only 5 minutes walk from center. I only saw Roy once and he is very helpful. I recommend this place.

  • Roy's place is cozy and cute, about a 5-10 minute walk from the main street in Fortuna. A good place to use as a base to sleep and start your daily Costa Rican adventure. This was my first time in Costa Rica and I didn't foresee the drive - it doesn't seem that far, but add in narrow mountain roads, dark etc. and it adds time. Definitely get a GPS or use (website hidden) Maps and plug in the coordinates Roy sends you as it is a bit back from the road in the middle of other places and can be hard to find the first time.

  • Roy's apartment was a perfect hub for our week in La Fortuna. It is located just a short walk from the city center and has majestic views of Volcan Arenal from the road out front. Roy was also a great host; always accessible and helpful in helping to maximize our stay. I recommend this listing and host!
