Interaction with Guests

About me?, Dogs lover (puddle style... maybe not a manly breed, but well guys... nobody can be perfect).
I've been working in tourism for over than 10 years and because of that, sometimes my work keeps me away from La Fortuna, however I always try to be present to greet my visitors and provide all possible assistance.
Similarly, I am always available if you need suggestions for your travel itinerary.
Once confirmed the booking in my apartment, I will send you a document with more details about what I like the most in Fortuna (local spots, interesting things to do, options places for eating or drinking). Likewise, the document shows with more details the address from town to the apartment, and also very important, how to get the key in case I am not in La Fortuna on your arrival.

The Neighborhood

As I mentioned before, the neighborhood is safe and quiet (family area). As safe as you can walk at midnight without any concern (I have done it several times). La Fortuna is a warm town with friendly people, but of course, you always have to watch out for your belongings.

Getting around

Public transportation gets to La Fortuna from San José. You can take optionally a shuttle service if you are not renting a car.
There are also, flights arriving to El Tanque, which is located 20 minutes away from La Fortuna.
If you are coming from Monteverde, the cheapest way is booking a Jeep-boat-Jeep, it can drop you off at the apartment.
In case you care coming from a different area, there are good shuttle companies like: Interbus, Gray Line, Ride CR, Desafío Adventure, Montezuma Expeditions. They won't drop you off to the apartment, but Arenal Rabfer hotel is located just 200mts away, so you can give that hotel as drop off place.

  • The location of this apartment was perfect. Just a short walk to the centre of Fortuna. The air conditioning works great. Although we never got to meet Roy he was always available for any questions.

  • Nice and spacious place, very confortable. Only 5 minutes walk from center. I only saw Roy once and he is very helpful. I recommend this place.

    March 2014
  • Roy's place is cozy and cute, about a 5-10 minute walk from the main street in Fortuna. A good place to use as a base to sleep and start your daily Costa Rican adventure. This was my first time in Costa Rica and I didn't foresee the drive - it doesn't seem that far, but add in narrow mountain roads, dark etc. and it adds time. Definitely get a GPS or use (website hidden) Maps and plug in the coordinates Roy sends you as it is a bit back from the road in the middle of other places and can be hard to find the first time.

  • Roy's apartment was a perfect hub for our week in La Fortuna. It is located just a short walk from the city center and has majestic views of Volcan Arenal from the road out front. Roy was also a great host; always accessible and helpful in helping to maximize our stay. I recommend this listing and host!

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Roy's place in late February 2014. Roy greeted us at the flat, gave us a map of La Fortuna and offered us great tips for all the stuff worth doing in town, where to eat etc. and was afterwards easily reachable via WhatsApp (even ahead of the visit Roy sent us a detailed PDF with a map, attractions and even a YouTube video of how to find his place, very impressive!)
The flat was even nicer than the photos, super clean and with a fully equipped kitchen (plus there's a patio and a BBQ if you're keen on doing your own cooking). The 10-minute walk into the town centre was not of any inconvenience to us (plus it's very quiet at night).
Roy's place was one of our three AirBnB bookings in Costa Rica, by far the best of them. We highly recommend the place to anyone visiting La Fortuna, Roy is a great host and we'd happily stay there again!

    Response from Roy:

Thank you Liron! you are very welcome anytime you want.

  • Roy is a very friendly host. He picked us up from the local hostel and took us shopping. The apartment was comfortable for a short stay. It was close to all amenities in LA Fortuna.

  • Roy was a great and helpful host. The apartment was clean and in a great location, walking distance to the center of La Fortuna.

  • Great value compared to other options. You get an entire apartment with two rooms (one with a full size or Queen bed, couldn't tell, and one with two twins) so the apartment could easily fit 4 people...it was spacious since we were only two! The place is very clean and fairly new / new for Costa Rica, plus the added bonus of there being air conditioning + a kitchen. We had some problems with loud neighbors, but once we let Roy now he was very responsive about talking to them and getting everything ironed out - more than I expected. Lastly, Roy gave us great advice and recommendations on what to do while we were in La Fortuna (you have to do the Sky Trek ziplining!! Incredible!!) and even came to pick us up from our shuttle dropoff to make sure we could find the apartment. Great stay, thanks for everything, Roy! :)

  • Roys place was great, just as described on Airbnb. Everything was very clean. It was the nicest bathroom I've seen in Costa Rica. The apartment is in the perfect location close to downtown. I would definitely stay here again if I ever came back! He also gave us an awesome video tour to help us on how to get there! I would recomend putting the coordinates into a GPS.. It would have been a little trickier to find if we hadn't done that.

  • Roy's apartment is just as described. It's clean, comfortable, and well-kept. Although there were only two of us, there's easily enough room in the apartment for 5 people to sleep comfortably.

The apartment has all the basic amenities you'd need during your stay, which are detailed in the listing. The kitchen doesn't have a stove/oven, but it does have a fridge, rice cooker, coffee maker, and electric skillet that make cooking easy.

The apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the center of La Fortuna, which is where all the restaurants, shops, and tour offices are located. But there is a small supermarket and a few other things that are closer if you need to run out for a beer or last-minute snack. It's also located on a well-lit, main street -- so it's easy to find your way.

It was a little difficult to find the apartment upon arriving in La Fortuna, but the shuttle driver just called Roy's cell phone, and he sorted things out quickly. Once we arrived, everything went smoothly.

Roy was really responsive to my inquiries before and during our stay. I certainly recommend you stay here. It's a much better deal than staying at one of the hostels or hotels.
